Aloha and welcome to our Hawaiian Celebration, our Ho'olaule'a. Hale Laule'a at Opihi Point is a one-of-a-kind, World Class, 5-acre private, Estate Retreat sitting on the cliff edge of the Pacific Ocean with an unmatched view of the Hamakua Coast. Hale Laule'a features multiple buildings and structures measuring just under 10,000 ft² of space, a resort style swimming pool, and 4 beautiful gardens with multiple pavilions and many different sitting areas. Our lower garden, one of the four gardens, sits 7 stories above the ocean with water surrounding you. It was the site selection for the TV Series, “Bachelorette” final ring ceremony season 2025 (we declined). Guests often describe Hale Laule’a as one of or the most beautiful place they have ever stayed. Others use the adjective, “Kardashian Sh#t”. You decide your own opinion but one thing is certain, it will be a special place you will remember for the rest of your life. Yes, Hale Laule'a at Opihi Point is that special.

The space for rent is a one-bedroom apartment located in the carriage house on the property. This space has a private bedroom with a queen size bed, a luxurious bathroom with bidet and rain shower, a full kitchen with range, oven, microwave, and refrigerator, a living room with pull out couch and desk, and an outdoor lanai with custom table and benches for meals and enjoyment of the ocean. A laundry facility is located onsite and available to guest through a concierge service. Guests do have full use of the main house pool and back lanai facility, and all garden spaces.

While staying at the Carriage House Apartment, a typical day would start by drinking a cup of coffee or tea watching the most beautiful sunrise on the Pacific Ocean from your bed, the lower garden, or pool deck of Hale Laule'a. After coffee, go on a 2-mile round trip walk to Hakalau Beach Park taking in views of Mauna Kea, waterfalls and lush tropical plants. When you arrive to the beach, it will most likely be all yours as you explore the ruins of an old sugar plantation and look in amazement of the natural beauty of Hawaii. Once back, you can jump into the pool for a refreshing swim in the 25-meter lap lane or play a game of volleyball in the sports area of the pool. When done, settle into the lower garden on Hale Laule'a with a good book or do Yoga or meditation session in any of our four gardens. After lunch, walk the gardens, visit the farmers market, or arrange for an optional inhouse experience. During the winter months, watch the whales frolic right off the property. At night, enjoy the back lanai of the main house by the fireplace, or get into the spa and watch the stars unfold. For privacy, head to the lower garden and sit by yourself surrounded by the ocean on three sides with waves crashing on the rocks below as you drift away to another world in one of the most beautiful spots on this earth. Anything you want is possible and arrangements can be made with the host.

Additional activity arrangements for guests can be made by host to include Horse Experience, a Land Experience or a Water Experience. You can also make a private appointment for Lifestyle Medicine consultation with Dr. Jennifer Walker. For special occasions, guests can arrange for private parties such as weddings or other intimate events.

OUR PROMISE TO YOU AND CONDITIONS OF THE STAY

• Hale Laule'a is a Retreat to find your own Peace and Hawaiian Celebration, Ho'o'laule'a. This property is not intended for a family stay or for multiple couples in a room. We offer pullout couches for two individuals traveling together to allow separate beds. We want our guests to feel and enjoy the beauty of the property; not put as many people as possible in a room or just a place to sleep at night. We want you to enjoy the property, land, and ocean, the Aina and Kai, and let it speak to you to find your Hawaiian Celebration, Ho’olaule’a.

• All photos are 100% accurate and taken with a cell phone, not professionally done with wide angle lens to make small look big. All pictures are from the property, not nearby attractions.

• It is a privilege and honor to stay here and we do not do this for the money but to share our Ho'olaule'a with others. We want nice, honorable, respectful guests looking for more than a place to crash in between sightseeing excursions, but wanting to experience the power, beauty and splendor of the land, ocean, and surroundings

• Upon arrival, you will find the space fully furnished, clean, and stocked with shampoo, soap, paper products as well as clean, quality towels and linens.

• Check in is from 3pm to 10pm by a Reception Appointment you must set a minimum of a week from arrival. You must be received in person on your initial check in visit. After your initial check in, you are free to enter and leave the property at will.

• Upon arrival there is a mandatory insurance required safety brief and tour of the property to use the gardens and amenities. If arriving after dark, the tour and safety brief will be the next morning. In addition, all guests must provide a government issued photo ID to confirm their identity.

• Taxes and all fees were included in the price you paid to VRBO

• You are coming to a 5-acre working estate with animals. It is not a hotel/motel, condominium, or timeshare. There are activities going on during the day and night in support of daily living on an estate of this magnitude.

• This is a drug-free and tobacco-free property. No smoking, vaping, or chew tobacco is allowed on the property.

• Guests agree to stay a safe distance from cliff and follow all rules of the property.

• HOSTED in compliance with Hawaii County Ordinance Number 2018-114, this property is a Hosted Rental Unit. License number TA-068-185-3952-0

Animals on the Property: There are many animals on the property such as horses, dogs, ducks, and a tortoise. All animals are friendly and are in specific areas. We could not have imagined a better place, location and host to stay with for our trip to the Big Island. Chad and Jennifer are truly inspiring hosts who love their island, what they've built and sharing it with others.The location is private but close to the main roadway to get to anywhere you need to. Hilo is a quick drive with lots to do and Volcano National Park is a wonderful, bucket-list visit.We stayed in the Carriage House and it was perfect. Everything we needed was there. The perfect view of the horses in the yard and the ocean just beyond them with perfect sunrise views were there. Comfort, cleanliness and character were there. The property is truly unique and worth the stay in itself. We enjoyed taking our morning walks, greeting the loving dogs (give Sage a pet for me), and wandering the grounds seeing the inspiring views, beauty and care within its boundaries.There isn't enough to write about our stay here. It truly was special and something we will hold dear for a long time to come. We hope to make it back and see this incredible place and island very soon!

We spent 5 nights here and absolutely loved it! The property is just as Chad and Jennifer described in the listing. The views are incredible and the location is close to so much! We have already recommended this property to family and friends. If you are looking for a place on the eastern side of the island, don’t skip this one.

From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted by Jennifer, who took the time to walk us through the property, and go over the ins and outs of visiting their oceanside paradise. We immediately felt right at home.The carriage house was beautifully appointed, blending comfort and style perfectly. The living area/kitchen opened up to a patio that had views of the ocean, creating the ideal spot for morning coffee. The property’s location was perfect—within walking distance to Hakalau Beach and a short drive to Akaka Falls State Park. Jennifer and Chad were outstanding hosts. Not only were we greeted upon arrival but they also shared great local tips on nearby restaurants and activities. Their warm hospitality made us feel welcomed and secure, and were always just a text away if we needed anything during our stay.Overall, this vacation rental exceeded our expectations in every way. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable retreat.

At check out my wife and I never felt so relaxed or free of life's stressors. Chad's intro was excellent and so informative. Both he and Jennifer want you to have an excellent stay and truly roll out the red carpet. The grounds as mentioned by previous guests, has gardens and views that are just spectacular. The location was secure and serene. Everything you would want to see on the Big Island is easy driving distance. Chad and Jennifer are so knowledgeable and made great suggestions for us. We had the BEST food, so much better in quality, quantity and pricing than the "other" side, lots of restaurant choices. This was our 5th trip to the island, we stayed week 1,North of Kona and week 2 here. Lots of consignment, thrift stores, Macy's, Walmart, Ross, TJ Maxx, Farmer's markets, Fair's, vintage items and shopping in general. Don't miss the Zoo, that was free and really fun. Many hiking trails and museums. A must stop is the Lyman Museum. There is even a lunch bag with built in ice packs in the freezer! Did I mention chocolates at check in? We have been to all the islands and thought this would be our last trip to the Big Island. We were wrong... this is now our "go to" Hawaii destination.
