First of all I wanted to say the owner was a lovely man as many of the reviewers have mentioned ,very knowledgeable about the local area,history and food.
However this does not detract from the fact our room was not fit for purpose.I had requested a quiet room ,this is very important to me,and the unfortunately the rooms on the back were all taken,the landlord however assured me that it would not be too noisy.
It turned out to be a nightmare ,like having your bed on a highway.
Also what was unaceptable for the price was the bathroom which was very basic,there was no shower curtain so basically everything was soaked and also the shower itself was a very basic plasticky device .We stayed in 2 hotels prior to this one in Penang and this was by far the worst.Way overpriced for the offering ,I am quite surprised by the other glowing reviews,the location itself is on a corner of a busy road,the street is not pretty like some of the others in old Georgetown and for me it would be ok if the price was half price but I actually ended paying more then the royal Penang.
