La chambre était grande et propre. On a bien mangé. Juste un peu d’attente pour le repas du soir. C’est un bel endroit.

One of the most expensive accommodations on the 500 mile loop and it did not meet my expectations. Front desk should be a bit more flexible on checking in hours, bathroom was quite small and outdated, also I think the breakfast badly needs improvements. Other than that, lovely people, waitresses at dinner were very nice and the food was quite good.

We’ve check in but no one inform us that the main door on our room given has no safe lock and when we call staff He said it same prior to that night. The thing is no one bother to fix the door for the safety of their customer rest and privacy in case someone will open the door in the middle of the night and everyone inside are sleeping. It’s very shame to the hotel and irresponsibility. Juice was serve prior to our present during breakfast. And no cover on the glass at least it’s been poured on our arrival it’s just awkward to drink. Also the carpets are dusty..

The hotel looks lovely from the outside but is a bit tired inside. I’d booked a room with a queen bed but the room had 2 singles. When I asked for it to be changed the girl didn’t seem to want to change it. She asked that if she put the beds together would we want a double duvet! The evening meal was lovely but I ordered grapefruit for breakfast and, when I asked when they brought my cooked breakfast, where the grapefruit was I was told they were waiting on the delivery. I understand that this can happen but I feel I should have been told, and perhaps offered an alternative, before I asked. I didn’t get the offer of an alternative even when I asked. Communication wasn’t their forte.

Disappointed
The room was very disappointing Old, tired, bed clothes not matching, bathroom not clean. We would not have stayed if we could have found alternative accommodation locally. After a 7 he drive and the high cost of the room, this was not what we were expecting to find. Food in the restaurant was lovely which has helped the situation

Mostly Clean and tidy but a little bit tired. The ceilings in the room and bathroom had marks, cracks and crumbling from water damage and the wallpaper was peeling. Rubbish from previous occupant left under the beds.

Despite pre ordering dinner waited 45 minutes for food, there was an ‘incident in the kitchen’ dauphinois potatoes were not cooked properly and the fish pieces in the fish pie were so small it was like soup. The menu we were sent to pre order from was different to the one in place, so the dessert ordered was not available. Tables designed for 2 people and we were 3 crammed on at dinner and breakfast. Pre ordered breakfast Waiter failed to tell us that hot drinks and juice were self service, when we realised no glasses or cups were available. Room was clean and a good size with a very good selection of drinks. Staff were all young and needed more support and training, one girl in particular was carrying the rest and was constantly apologising to customers for others mistakes.

Disappointing visit
Not the warmest welcome. Staff seemed overwhelmed and lacking in customer service experience despite the place seeming fairly quiet. Breakfast was extremely disorganised despite everyone being asked to order their food the night before. They seemed to ‘lose’ people’s orders and the staff kept saying sorry but we are really busy (they absolutely weren’t) Room door was very awkward to lock and upon asking for assistance the staff member was helpful enough but kept complaining that guests should be shown how to lock the doors when they arrived (we weren’t) All in all a very disappointing visit.

Room was tied. Level of finish even to newish bathroom was poor for money being charged. Earning meal in restaurants I had was not very good. Only 3 pieces of meat in pie!

Okay stay for a nice area
We were put in a very small room near the service area of the hotel which was quite loud and cramped in by the food cellar. The shower water went everywhere and the room had some cobwebs in it as it looked like it hadn't been cleaned for a while. Staff were working hard though so can't fault their efforts!

A very comfortable and enjoyable stay, lovely walks close by and beach a 10-15 minute walk through a wooded area from the pier. Meal a bit over priced in the bar area, however enjoyed the meal we ordered. Staff friendly and welcoming. Overall no complaints.

Gairloch stopover during the NC500
Good overnight stopover at the Old Inn. Friendly staff and great atmosphere from the other guests. Very dog friendly - they gave us a dog bed and bowl upon arrival. Breakfast not so great - last serving was at 9am, limited veggie options and we were rushed due to a coach party coming in. Stick to simple fare in the restaurant. Room was a little tired but very clean. No complaints overall. Make sure you book the restaurant well in advance during busy periods.

Breakfast and meals beautiful, the bedroom number (1), large spacious and the bed was comfy. The bar man was friendly. To be critical though a few slight changes could go a long way. There was no physically possible way to plug the tv in so it was useless. The bathroom shelves were filled with clutter leaving no space for any of your own stuff. The shower unit was a gorgeous modern triple shower however, the shower itself was not strong enough to wash hair. It was a trickle. The breakfast lady was a bit full on. As soon as we got near the bottom of the stairs she was already in our faces (genuinely trying to be helpful ) asking how many pots of tea we wanted. Then the same at the automated self service coffee machine; in my space trying to assist me with the buttons. As you can tell, I’m grumpy in the mornings, and she was doing everything to help, just perhaps too much for grumpy sleepy people like me. Some slight and simple (cost free) adjustments to the room; extension cable for the tv and clutter removal from the bathroom shelves would make the room more practical. The shower does needs replaced.

Very mediocre but ok if you’re on a budget.
We stayed in July and chose a family room that had a double and a bunk bed as we really wanted a twin room and that’s the best we could manage. It also mentioned having a bathroom that was a wet room. This was a big turn off as really it was set up for disabled showering and meant the entire bathroom which was tiny would have been soaked. We didn’t shower because of this. The tile floor in the bathroom looked grim as well. The only positives were that the restaurant food was good and the bar had a band on the Friday night which made it lively and entertaining. The setting was fairly pretty near the harbour too. We used this as a stop on the NC500.
