Il ne faut pas se fier aux photos!
L’hôtel en général n’est pas dans un bon état. La piscine est hors d’usage. Le déjeuner est vraiment le minimum de ce qu’on peut s’attendre. Il n’y avait pas beaucoup de diversité dans les choix certaines viennoiseries étaient pas très fraîches. Le pire était notre chambre. Le tapis était très sale et le divan était taché. On hésitait à marcher sans nos souliers. Il y avait de forte odeur de cigarette dans la salle de bain. Pourtant nous avions une chambre non fumeur. Ça venait d’une autre chambre. C’est dommage car l’hôtel est bien situé pour le magasinage à FREEPORT. C’est un hôtel qui n’est plus sur notre liste.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review for yoour recent stay with us. We are new to the hotel and have inherited a few problems such as stained carpeting and older furnishings. We are making plans to remodel the hotel rooms during the winter months so next summer we should have better room amenities. We apologize for the smoke, we are a 100% smoke free hotel, however some guests feel that they can smoke in their rooms and that it wont affect others. They are so very wrong and when we can catch them, we charge a substantial fine for breaking the rules.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review for your recent stay with us. We are saddened to hear that your stay did not go as you had planned. Our pool has been unavailable for a considerable length of time and we had scratched it from our amenities list because we are unsure as to when it could be made available for use. The outdated carpeting is going to be addressed soon.

Was under complete Construction. I am honestly surprised it was legal to allow anyone to stay inside. I’m not certain how a building in this stage of construction was given certificate of Occupancy by the local municipality. When booking through Expedia, it should absolutely be required to notify the client that the building will be not only under construction, but potentially dangerous. In the future I will make sure not to use a third party such as Expedia and book directly with hotels. I’ve always known it was possible for the hotel not to be as nice as expected, but this was an astounding low. My one singular interaction with the hotel staff when checking in was fine, this is solely to do with the state of the property which other than not existing at all, was a worst case scenario.

I booked not realizing that the property was being renovated. Not only was there trash littered all over the place, the stairwells were blocked for construction and the elevator was the only way to get up to our room. The bed had hair in it and there was dust all over the place; the bathroom sink was clogged and wouldn’t drain. We ended up leaving a day early.

Under Renovations. No continental breakfast served here. Its a shyteshow. Drywall dust in the hallways, Beds were clean but mattresses were well worn, rolled right into the middle. Construction garbage everywhere inside and out. They kept a $100 for incidentals..say I'll get it back next week sometime. FFS.

I was unaware at the time of booking that the hotel would be undergoing renovations. However, timings of renovations should be expected because it's just before the tourist season. Typically this is not a big deal because I have stayed other places with construction happening and their planning was very thought out. I was so disappointed with this one night stay, thankfully it was only one night. The check in/out window was actually a window that they opened while you stood outside. My husband had to fix the toilet so it would flush. We had to go back outside to the "window" to ask for towels because none were in our room. There was NO HOT WATER, so in the morning we were cooly refreshed to start our day on a chilly April morning. Lastly the "continental breakfast" was left by the elevator, in a hallway unattended so who knows could have touched it. This place honestly should have been shut down to do renovations. I was extremely disappointed and certainly will not recommend.

Disgusting cigarette smell was keep coming through the bathroom vent. Stayed 3 nights and my room never got cleaned up. On the top of heater/ac unit was very dusty. However, the staff was very friendly and helpful.

The hotel failed to mention the intense construction all indoor and outdoors of the building. There was no hot water in our room. There was hair in the sink and bed. No working curtains. The conditions were so bed we left after being there for an hour. We’ll be requesting a full refund and never coming back or recommending this.

Paint/wallpaper was peeling off the walls, mold in the bathroom on the ceiling, had to stand in a puddle and let water fall on you just to check in. The check in was under a makeshift wooden “hut” due to renovations. The outside had shingles coming off the exterior. Looked nothing like pictures online. Right next to the interstate so was incredibly loud at night to sleep through while 18 wheelers drove by.

We got catfished -- by a hotel! The photos and descriptions were stunning, like a half-naked supermodel with abs and 401k. We got there only to find a 300lb sweaty chain-smoker who hadn't showered in a week. The "lobby" was a plywood tunnel leading to a window with nobody staffing the folding table propped up as a front desk. The main entrance resembled a haunted house - another plywood tunnel leading to the side door. There was hair in the tub, coffee splatters on the wall behind the filthy coffee pot, and what looked like a bloody booger smeared across the door frame. Construction is one thing - I get that, the place needed work. But at least CLEAN the rooms you've conned people into renting. The front desk lady needed a few lessons in customer service - she denied us access to the stairs, which is great fun when traveling with your highly claustrophobic mother-in-law. She possessed the logic of an 6 year old: We asked her, "What if there was a fire?" To which she replied, "There is no fire, and you're not using the stairs." If this were a first date, I would have stiffed her with the bill and jumped out the window. Well played, 44-Catfish-Hotel. Well played.

The front desk clerk did her best to advise of the necessary precautions if taking the stairs given the ongoing construction at present and also advised that in the event of a fire we have preparations in place. The hotel is in the process of a remodel. The outside appearance is iniductive that the property had been neglected for a while. The interior is a little worn in some areas as well. A construction crew was on site making upgrades, as can be seen from a newly remodeled lobby. It should be a great place once they are finished. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. The staff was pleasant.

I was unaware that the property was undergoing renovations when I booked my stay online; it was not listed anywhere that I could find. Do not stay here if you don’t want to be woken up by hammering & scraping outside your window at 8am. The fire alarm went off this morning due to the renovations and was not turned off until the staff found the key for it (15-20 minutes of continuous loud noise). Staff is kind and friendly. The room itself was clean & comfortable. I’m sure any other time of year this place is 5 stars.

The property is being renovated and that was not noted when booked sadly it’s very dated the walls were not clean and the carpets had stains. The breakfast looked like it was from Walmarts frozen food section. The one staff we checked in was nice and helpful. He did explain renovations and noise but that would’ve been better known prior to booking.

During registration, I found out about renovations and noise (8am to 8pm) In the room, the tub did not drain properly and when telling the front desk got a teaching on how to drain a tub. the gentleman probably thought I had never used a tub. in the bathroom we had two bath towels for three people( me and my grandchildren) no extra blanket. the room door did not lock. during my first night, i was awaken at 2am by a violent dispute going on in the room next door. I called the front desk. they told me they will come and check. an hour later the noise kept going even more disturbing- language and screams. i called again. the situation kept going on until 4:30am. the next day the front desk agreed that the customers in the next room were too loud and were using foul language but he never apologized or ask how to help my stay. i asked to see the manager....never did....never received a call. Later that day i decided not to stay a second night . I did not trust my door and the clientele of the hotel.It seems that I was staying in a third grade hotel. Because I booked with Expedia the front desk person smiled and told me they could not do anything about reimbursement ," next time don't use Expedia." I am often looking for hotels for client looking for real estate up and down the coast of Maine. I will make sure to stay away from booking through Expedia as the Hotel 44 mentioned and will to stay away from Hotel 44. Some reparation would be appreciated
