The Honeycomb Hollow - your getaway in the mountains in a place the Cherokees still call Peaceful Valley.

Find rest and rejuvenation for your journey at this beautifully furnished cottage on a creek with a fire pit and panoramic mountain views from a welcoming porch. If it sounds like heaven, it is.
The space
The Space: The Honeycomb Hollow features a wonderfully finished, fully-furnished living room, bathroom, and bedroom. Kitchen has refrigerator, microwave, and ample countertop space while the bedroom boasts a queen size bed and an incredible view of the creek and neighboring mountains and farm animals. Heart pine floors and room galore. Rocking chairs on the porch provide a wonderful view of mountain sunrises and sunsets, gaze at the splendor of the mountains, meander around the property and creek, and go name a cow. In the heart of gem mining, canoeing, biking, this cabin nestled in the heart of the Nantahala Forest will become your favorite place away from home. Close to everything, you may choose to take a scenic hike on Appalachian Trail, eat a gourmet dinner at Highlands, journey from brewery to brewery, or just relax and stay home with someone you love. Rural setting away from the busy city but still close to civilization. Western Iotla Valley filled with pastures, creeks, and mountains (with some farm animals nearby). Two additional 1 bedroom/1 bath cabins (The Feathered Nest and The Butterfly Bungalow) next door available for bookings, so bring your friends and family for reunions or getaways.

Book early, as this this spots gets a loaded calendar fast with the gem shows and area events.

Please inquire regarding pets. We are very open to the possibility, with a small added pet fee ($50).
Guest access
There is a lockbox attached to the cabin next to the front door. After booking, the directions, lockbox code, internet password, will all be supplied via email along with specific check-in and check-out directions.

You will have the entire cabin to yourselves, no shared spaces other than the grounds. Private entrance and amenities.
Other things to note
Many activities close by, rafting, tubing, golf, sightseeing, antiques, museum’s, casino and scenic drives. Well, everywhere you drive around here is scenic.
We know these spots are small, meant for two, but if you'd like to invite another couple or two, remember, we have three little cabins available.

With advance notice we may be open to a pet (depending on size and type) with a nonrefundable pet fee. Please advise if you think you may be bringing a pet to make arrangements.

Everthing was ok except for the cold shower we had to get fixed & trying to understand the TV internet connection & also how to turn up the heater. Parking could we larger for your car so you dont drop off ther edge. the property manager got a plumber to fix the shower knob.

We enjoyed the cabin very much! Great views from the porch! The corner stove, cows, birds, the church bells, the cemetery…all enjoyable. Franklin is a nice little town. The very thoughtful little “extras” at the cabin were much appreciated! The one negative, as mentioned before, is parking. The space itself is large enough but no room for turn around or even backing up especially with an oversized vehicle! FYI. Thank you!

I opened the door to Honeycomb Hollow, did a walk through, walked back to the car where my husband was unloading and reported to him, “It’s perfection” It was exactly what we were looking for. Quiet, comfortable, cozy. A place to sit outside and enjoy the evening, the mornings and the rain. We wanted to relax, unwind and recharge and this little place delivered in spades! We’ll be booking again!

The cabin was just as described! The back porch was our favorite spot- watching the deer, rabbits, squirrels and listening to the rain on the tin roof. VERY relaxing! The cabin is centrally located to downtown Franklin, Bryson City, Cherokee, and Sylva (all a 30 min drive) and many great hikes and waterfalls. Kristi is very good with communication and any issues you might have; she is a great host! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this cabin and so did our dog!

Love the creative decor of the cabin. Cannot beat the scenery. Nothing is more relaxing than opening the french doors to the back porch taking in mountain air. Only suggestion is bringing the smallest vehicle you may have because the maneuvering is tight once you get onto driveway to the cabins. Also won't recommend low riding vehicle either which is common the mountains.

The cabin is a cute place that is well maintained. Our getaway was specifically meant to retreat from the world instead of venturing out. Although comfortable, it really isn’t meant for you to spend full days there. There are two other permanent residences and two other rental cabins within very close proximity sharing the same single-car road/driveway, so there is no true feeling of seclusion or privacy. However, I will say that noise wasn’t an issue, as I spent a great deal of one day on the porch reading without distraction. Plan to drive a compact car or small SUV because it is difficult to turn around and the parking space holds only one vehicle. The parking space is basically a retaining wall with steady decline of 3-5 feet drop on the sides to the back, and it has no guard rails as a buffer. We drove our Silverado, and trying to maneuver it to turn around in the tight spacing was not great. The overall location is well placed between Sylva and Franklin, so you’re an easy drive to food and groceries. There are also many outdoor activities being so close to Nantahala. We spent the day of check-in in Sylva, and the shops and breweries there were my favorite thing we did. We highly recommend Lulu’s on Main (Sylva) and Kountry Kitchen (Franklin) for eating out, and Innovation Brewing (Sylva) for good beer and atmosphere. Overall, I would recommend this place for a couple wanting a conveniently located and comfortable place to stay. You’ll find a few extra details for guests upon arrival that make the stay a lot more welcoming than other places we’ve rented (keep an eye out for them).

The place was quaint and peaceful. The kitchen living room and bedroom was as pictured very accurately. The only thing that was disappointing was how cold the place was, it dropped down into the twenties and the gas heater in the living room could not keep up and the space heaters they had for the bedroom and the kitchen were just not enough. Other then that it was a peaceful stay.

We really enjoyed staying here with our pup and would love to come back in the future. The cottage was the very definition of cozy, close to a plethora of pup friendly hikes in Nantahala Forest, and the super cute downtown areas of Franklin and the Highlands. We’d recommend this spot to any couple looking for a quiet escape!
