A lovely place!
We truly loved this property! The house is lovingly taken care of and this was a wonderful place to stay. The bed in the master bedroom was awesome! The best part was the seclusion of the property, while really not being too far out of town. We took the trail to the dunes daily and our dog loved every minute! The owners were in contact with us multiple times to ensure our comfort and well being during our stay. We highly recommend staying here!

Beautiful Escape into Nature
This place is so lovely and cozy. Its closeness to Ten Mile Beach is amazing, and after a long walk out on the wild dunes a soak in the hot tub was everything. We needed a reset for 2024 and Cedar run was it. Thank you for a beautiful stay!

You can take a short walk through the trees to get to the sand dunes and beach. It’s really beautiful. And the house is cozy and comfortable. A very peaceful place. The owners of the property were really kind, helpful , and communicative.

Cedar Run was spectacular! It is well stocked with all the essentials. It was super cozy and had everything we needed for our week long stay. My husband liked the privacy and seclusion of the house. I loved being able to just walk out to the dunes. I also made several trips to the water as well and never saw another person! We would definitely stay here again.

Not a dog beach
This listing is inaccurate, this beach does NOT allow dogs at all. It’s part of mckerrichrr state park and we were kicked off and told no dogs at all. So that sums it up, false advertising.

No false advertising here. You were given check-in instructions which included a review of the beach area. We state that there are park rangers on the beach and that you go at your own risk. We're sorry for your embarrassing situation but it was your choice to ignore our suggestions.

Our family loved the seclusion of this lovely property. A 5 minute walk to reach the sand dunes and watched the sunsets every night. The house was absolutely spotless upon arrival and the hot tub was a perfect way to end each day. We will definitely stay again in the future.

Peaceful getaway
This is a cosy cabin with quiet peaceful surroundings It suited four adults and a dog very well. It’s a very short walk to miles of dunes. I highly recommend it

Love this quiet country/beach cabin
We have stayed at this rental before and loved it. The ocean is about a 20-30 min walk over loose sand. The surrounding woods have become very overgrown so it’s harder to walk the property than before. The house has one room downstairs with connection to the only full bath. Upstairs is an open room with 3 beds and one very tiny low ceiling half bath. Upstairs could use more lighting. We will definitely stay here again. The hot tub was great. Thank you so much.

Loved this cabin in the woods!
We really enjoyed our stay at this house! It was the perfect size for our family-big private bedroom downstairs and loft bedroom up stairs with several beds. It’s on a beautiful, secluded piece of property with a fun tire swing in the backyard. The owners were thoughtful to cut the grass in the backyard ahead of our arrival so the kids could get down to the swing. They also kindly turned the heat and lights on for us before we arrived. My family enjoyed the hot tub. The house is easy to find and get to and is fairly close to Fort Bragg for shopping or restaurants. We visited two of the beaches nearby that the owners recommended and were pleasantly surprised! All in all this was the perfect house for my family of 6!

Abrupt cancellation
Two days before being scheduled to check in, I had not heard from the hosts any information about how to check in. I contacted them to find out the process and was informed that our reservation was cancelled due to a pest problem. The problem was identified two days earlier but we received no notification. Had I not called we would not have known of the cancellation. The hosts then directed us to contact VRBO and to cancel the reservation ourselves, even though they were the ones who cancelled us. VRBO made it clear to us that the hosts were responsible for the cancellation and agreed to direct them to do so. VRBO did offer to help us find an alternative accommodation, but by then we were in a motel one day away from moving to our “reserved” accommodation, too late to come up with an alternative. This put a huge damper on our trip. Lesson: be sure to confirm your reservation repeatedly before hitting the road or you could end up traveling to a place you will not find. Also, one week later we have still not received our reimbursement. Very disappointing all the way around.

In twenty-three years of renting Cedar Run, we have been fortunate in not having any problems arise such as this recent unforeseen experience. Turns out, it was a false alarm, but unfortunately, completely out of our control. We saw to it that you received full refund from VRBO but it's issuance did take longer than we would have anticipated. They have assured us that you received your full refund. Once again, our sincere apologies for the last minute cancellation but had there actually been a pest infestation, we are obligated to protect our guests' health. We have offered you a complimentary reservation for a future visit but fully understand you reticence in not accepting.

Quiet Spot
This place is great for a nice quiet spot near beautiful outdoors. Only downside is the internet is really slow if you need it.

Our Internet in this area is a little slower-paced ~ one of the reasons guests are eager to escape the technology-laden larger cities. Welcome back to nature!

Loved our long weekend
My wife and I loved our long weekend at Cedar Run. The house was perfect for the 2 of us. I hope this doesn't sounds corny, but my wife and I both felt like we were staying at our grandparents house. Not because it's old and outdated but because it had a warmth to it that we felt almost from the very start. We took a walk to the beach everyday. We loved sitting on the deck and hearing the ocean waves from the house. Would definitely stay here again.

Our hosts thought of everything, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time. We didn't realize that the entrance road to the cabin would be dirt/mud and the walking trip to the "private beach" was not private and a bit treacherous due to the winter creek. We crossed by utilizing the logs in the water. It was ok, just not what we were expecting. The location to Pacific Star Winery, Fort Bragg beaches and Skunk Train and Medocino was perfect.

Perfect getaway!
I’ve stayed at a few different properties along Fort Bragg over the years and every trip is amazing! This house had all the amenities we look for, beautiful forest setting in a cabin with a warm fireplace and hot tub:) The property alone was well worth the trip, no need to leave when you have a beautiful trail through the woods that lead you to 10 Mile beach but the best part of my trip was getting engaged! Overall it was a perfect place to stay and I’m sure we’ll be back soon.

Owners are really nice, a little trouble getting a hold of them to check in but overall experience was great! A LOT of open space to roam for us and the dog! Clean, well stocked house. Great place to read a book and enjoy the quiet outdoors! We will be staying here again!!

Privacy and relaxation
Had a great stay here over Christmas in this Aframe in what woods. Charming decor, cedar interior, total privacy for the entire house and deck, tempur pedic king in downstairs. fully equipped with everything you need. We settled in very well, even the dog. The hosts are more than accommodating. and the pride of ownership is obvious. Our kind of place, the photos are accurate, and we will return soon.

Great quiet little cabin away from it all but close enough to drive into town. It is a great cabin for a family of 4 ( with teenagers). Great hot tub and well stocked kitchen. Path to the dunes was an easy walk.

Great cabin for peace and quiet
We really enjoyed our stay here. Beautiful, quiet cabin. The tire swing was fun, and the trail to the dunes was a nice relaxing walk with my morning cup of coffee each morning. It's only a short stint down a forested road off the main highway, yet it felt like we were in the middle of the woods far, far away from the hustle bustle. Highly recommend!

Idyllic, peaceful nature retreat
We can't say enough good things about Cedar Run. It was exactly what we were looking for in a summer getaway from the city. This property is quiet, peaceful, beautiful, and extremely comfortable and our hosts were delightful to correspond with. The walk on the private trail through the eucalyptus to the dunes was such a lovely part of each day, as was unwinding in the hot tub at the end of the day. We had everything we needed, including a very well stocked kitchen, and can't wait to return.

Perfect vacation house for us!
We loved the secluded location of this house. Sitting on the deck you hear absolutely no sounds except for the birds and the distant roar of the ocean - very relaxing. We took a walk through the woods, over the dunes, all the way to the water’s edge - quite an experience. Everything about the house was perfect. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone going to that area.

Nice Place to Get Away from it All
We had a great time getting away with our kiddos and dogs. This secluded gem will give you the opportunity to reset and spend some quality time with your family/friends. The only hiccup we ran into was not knowing dogs aren’t allowed in the sand dunes or ten mile beach. We were politely escorted back to the end of the property by a State Park ranger. The only reason we didn’t get fined was because our dogs were leashed and we were cooperative. However, there are plenty of places you can take your dogs within a short driving distance. The kiddos had a great time exploring the property and finding banana slugs. We will definitely be coming back in the future.

A Quiet Retreat to the Woods and Beach
We loved our stay here. The cabin is located in a very quiet forest glade. The footpath through the woods to the beach takes you to the dunes, where you then wander through about a half mile of a trackless wonderland. We found the dunes to be fascinating and beautiful! Then you’re at the beach where the only company you have are your human and dog companions and bird life! During our 4 days at this cabin, we explored this outdoor world every day. It was wonderful! Jim and Shirl are excellent hosts. They were helpful, accommodating and welcoming. With the wood stove going, we spent our evening time together reading and sharing meals, retiring to our extremely comfortable beds at night, then back to the woods, dunes and beach the next morning. . It was an entirely delightful stay. I hope to return!

Labor Day Weekend
Enjoyed our stay at this gem of a property. It was nice to escape the Labor Day crowds in Fort Bragg and enjoy a little peace and quiet just outside of town. The house/cabin is located on a beautiful piece of property with acreage and access to a private beach. It was well equipped and provided for all of our needs. We were lucky to find such a great a place on such a busy weekend and will absolutely recommend it to friends. We'll be back!

Low key/high comfort lodging in private fairy tale setting
Pristine North Coast shoreline just a 33-minute walk from the secluded, comfortably-furnished cabin with quiet upscale touches. Just 10 minutes from town, but a world away. Good kitchen set-up, spacious enough master bed and bath and a sparkling clean hot tub tub on the deck. Upstairs beds and half bath may be a little cramped for tall adults. Overall, a charming, well-appointed, well-cared for little treasure in a stunning location. We had a wonderful stay here ans definitely will come back.

Yes, stay here! A sweet retreat in your own secluded acreage, and a wonderfully kept home. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the hosts provided everything that we needed. You can tell that they treat this as their own home. Some vacation rentals have cheap towels and low quality linens, we really appreciated the nice towels and linens here. This home is prepared the way I would have guests at my own home. Would absolutely stay here again. Great escape from my hot hometown of Sacramento to the cool, beautiful woods at Cedar Run.

We enjoyed our stay at this wonderful property. The owners were a dream, communication was prompt and the property itself was clean and well-appointed with everything we needed. The beach was about a 35 minutes hike for us (traveling with a four-year old) but well worth it! We were all able to navigate the dunes and had a lovely time getting there. Town is about 10 minutes away, which is just perfect! You really have the best of both worlds here: close to town and also a very private area with no close neighbors. Our children (ages 7,9 and 4) spent hours on the tire swing. We can't wait to plan our next trip here!

The perfect escape
We spent 4 nights in this lovely cabin. Our phone service was minimal but that was the perfect break from the day to day work grind we needed. The area the cabin is in feels secluded yet we were close enough to visit many different beaches. The kitchen was fully stocked with all of the necessary cookware we needed to prepare lunches and dinners. The hot tub was clean and enjoyed nightly, gazing up at the endless stars. We ventured to the beach near the cabin, it is quite a trek to reach the waterfront but the seclusion is unparalleled. We only saw two other people walk by the day we were there. If you are bringing dogs like we did, be sure you are prepared to help them back to the wooded trail. The sun can really heat up the dune sand and make it painful for them to cross back during the day. We really enjoyed venturing into the dunes to watch the sunset in our own little oasis. This vacation was exactly what we needed and would love to come experience this area again. Highly recommended!

A very good point on dogs crossing the dunes. Possibly ten months out of the year are ideal, but summer months pose problems with heat on the sand.
