The hotel is in the middle of a busy shopping area near the mall.. not that I was there to shop. I needed a comfortable room to rest overnight from a long drive. Thanks to Expedia I got a great rate for a nice room for the night. The room was basic, but modern, clean, quiet. My only criticism is of the breakfast the eggs looked like white hockey pucks with a yellow center... not appealing at all. Need to switch to scrambled or something else.. Overall the stay was excellent.

In general everything was nice, however my room smelled of smoke. The smell improved with the AC on and it didn’t hinder my stay. Breakfast was nice. They had both warm and cold options

I did not like the fact on the second day of our 6 day stay I started to have heart problems, I am 78 and my heart has been getting worse for the last few years, but I wanted to see my four great grand kids that I had yet to see. My daughter is an RN and lives in that area. She wanted me to say with he until she could get me on a plane home. We let the front desk what was going on and told them we needed to cancel the last four days of our stay. They would not refund us for the days we were not there. I feel that is really low and bad business. I will never pay up front or stay at any Howard Johnsons ever again. There are to many GOOD places to stay that have a reasonable Cancelation Policy,

It looked nice when driving up to it and they continued once inside. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The front desk arranged for us to have a shuttle to an event and it is greatly appreciated. The shuttle driver - Country- is very friendly and helpful. The room is pretty with the aqua/teal wall and curtains and accents. It is clean and the beds are comfortable. I’m looking forward to breakfast in the morning.

The area is overall nice, However: the website didn’t mention anything about a non-negotiable $50 deposit. I almost wasn’t able to get my room because of it.

First, it was the cheapest hotel on Expedia in the area for the days we were going to be there. We were visiting Evansville University. It is convenient to that location, less than 10-minute drive. This is a typical OLD hotel that has changed hands many times over the years. Cheap. The sheets were basically clean. The mattresses weren’t bad. “Breakfast” was typical of FREE breakfast at a cheap hotel. 4 types of cereal (generic) room temp milk, rubbery eggs, biscuits and gravel that I didn’t brave, and the typical waffle maker. Where my complaint comes in is the smell. Funky, musky smell. Twice we walked out of our room to an overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke. The hotel is dated and cheap. Had I paid a premium price, I would have been less generous with the two stars. But, you get what you pay for.

After reading a half dozen signs about hair dye and $300 charge for damages. Saw a bell for service after waiting for the front desk person which I had thought to have made eye contact with a couple times but apparently not. Rang bell and front desk person got up from watching YouTube or something on his computer. Also the room had obvious water damage to the walls and I hate to think what was growing behind the wallpaper. Room 166

About an hour after arriving at the hotel the front desk personnel knocked on my door wanting to "check the AC". I did not request this and was told upon checkout by a different staff member that this is not common practice. I have no idea what he was doing but leads me to believe he was maybe placing a camera in the AC unit. Creepy then and creepy now. I put a towel over the unit for privacy. But I will never return to this hotel

The walls are all paper thin. You can hear literally everything from in your room. I was under a group of men who were clearly wasted and making a huge spectacle in the middle of the night for hours straight. Not sure how they weren't asked to stop disturbing others.
