Perfect place to get away
I love staying here. It is so clean and comfortable. I loved waking up in the morning and having my coffee on the front porch soaking in the beautiful natural world. It far enough away from town to enjoy the quiet but close enough to grab delicious food for meals. I’ll always stay here when visiting Eminence.

The location was centralized for my visiting attractions. Better location than Echo Bluff cabins, which I was thinking about. So glad I chose Mary's place. Had a little trouble originally finding the place. But once there, it was easy to navigate in and out of property. The window heat pump unit is excellent cus I needed AC in the afternoons and heat in the mornings. You will hear some animal noises periodically during the night, but you located inside a fenced property so you are safe. The cabin has all the amenities you need, even WIFI router, which I realized a few days into the stay. Mary is a great communicator and very friendly, her dogs are super friendly, they greet you as one of the family, very gentle.i had a great trip with my dog in Emience, we saw alot of first time attractions. The landscape in Emience is very beautiful along with Mary's property. Nothing but happy times :-)

New Years Eve trip
This cabin was the perfect spot to ring in the new year with friends and loved ones! Mary Kay was very responsive and thought of everything in the cabin to make our stay comfortable. The driveway was steep at some spots, but my smaller sized suv had no problem getting to and from. Overall we had a great time and we are looking forward to planning a trip back this summer!

Amazing Peaceful Cabin in the Woods
We absolutely loved staying with Mary Kay and her family. The cabin is adorable and cozy and warm even in the cold of winter. The beds are comfy and kitchen has everything you could ask for. Mary Kay was so welcoming and helped us plan our day and find a wild horse herd. We will absolutely be back again!

The most relaxing time we’ve had in 8 years
The roads weren’t bad at all with a front two wheel drive suv. Didn’t have any problems finding the cabin with the signs in the gates you pass through. The cabin was so impressive and you can tell whoever built it, took their time and all of the decor was exactly what you’d want in a cabin in the woods. The different themes matched my kids and us perfectly. Everybody was happy. We had plans to do a bunch of hiking and sight seeing but once we got settled in, it’s hard to want to leave the peaceful cabin. The kids loved seeing all of the animals and Mrs Higgins’s is the sweetest woman in the world and goes above and beyond. There’s way more expensive and bigger cabins out there and none of them compare to this cabin at all. We had such a perfect time and we’re already talking about doing it again in the spring.

Beautiful and Unique
The cabin sits on a beautiful property, remotely located but close to Eminence. We enjoyed the peaceful environment, view, wildlife (and longhorn cattle)! The cabin is so cute! I will say, it’s best to have a 4 wheel drive SUV or truck. The road coming into the property is a little precarious. Going down isn’t too bad but coming up can be tricky! A small car would definitely struggle and quite possibly not make it. Mary Kay is the sweetest host! Great communication and will go above and beyond for her guests.

This was the cutest little cabin with the most beautiful. Jew of the sunrise! Mary was a fantastic host who has thought of every little thing you could possibly need! Four girlfriends stayed and we floated the river! We will be back!

Loved this cabin and property!
Clean and very comfortable. Loved the cabin decor. The owners have thought out every little detail to make you feel at home. Beautiful property to walk around. Longhorn cattle there too! Close to all the state park sites we wanted to see. Such a fun stay! Would definitely live to stay there again.

A Piece of Heaven

Perfect Cabin!!!
The cabin was very clean and decorated so nicely! Great location to everything Eminence has to offer. Mary Kay was the BEST host! One of the kindest people you will ever meet. She was So quick to answer any questions we had and even helped us try and find the wild horses! The longhorns on the outside of the property fence were so awesome to see as well! I would say the only downside was the road getting in is a very steep gravel road , if you have a small vehicle it probably won’t make it up and down the road. Definitely need a truck or a vehicle with four wheel drive . Besides that I would highly recommend this cabin and can’t wait to go back next summer!

The perfect vacation
This cabin is amazing. It is quiet and off the routine path of life. If you need relaxation and rejuvenation this is where you need to go. The cabin is picturesque, it has everything you will need. Mary Kay is exceptional as a hostess. Whatever you may need or want she will help you get it or make it happen. I cannot say more positive words for the hostess and the cabin! We will be going back.

Beautiful and secluded
This place is definitely off the beaten path, which is what I was going for. Make sure you have a vehicle that can handle rocky and hilly roads! Watching the wildlife and horses was amazing from the front deck. It was a joy to get a visit from the dogs that were around. The place was very cute and comfortable! It took some getting used to hearing the acorns hit the tin roof and sometimes was a bit loud overnight. All in all was a fantastic stay. Thank you Mary Kay!

This place is on a lovely property, it's so quiet and secluded! It's a bit of a journey to the river, but being set up on a hill - it's the perfect spot for those who are a bit more active!

Very nice, clean, and cozy! Hostess super friendly. Great layout inside and slept the 4 of us very comfortably. Must travel on a gravel road to get to the cabin (a little steep at one point), so just be aware if in a smaller vehicle. Larger vehicles/trucksSUVs would have no issue.

Our host was great! We have stayed in rural VRBO before in the Current River area and this was as good as any. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back. Dirt road into cabin but only about 3-4 miles. Convenient both to Emminence and Carr's outfitters.

Best Trip!!!
On our way there my car blew a head gasket. I called Mary Kay and said not to worry. Her and her husband Mike came to mine and my daughters rescue. We were about 30 minutes still away from Eminence. After they got there we had to load the car on the trailer and they took us to the cabin. While my car was being checked out all week Mary Kay and Mike let me and my daughter use their truck. My car didn't get fixed but they even brought me and my daughter home with my car on the trailer. The cabin was lovely very quiet and peaceful then getting to watch the horses pass by in the morning. We went swimming everyday and went on a horse and carriage ride which her nephew is in charge of it was so neat. This was a vacation me nor my daughter will ever forget Mary Kay or Mike and we got to meet her son and watch him sing. It was a great time we will be going back!!!!!!!

Ozark Mountain getaway
We thoroughly enjoyed the property! Mary and her family were the proper host in my book. They checked in with us on arrival introduced themselves told us a little bit about the property and left us be! The little cabin had everything we needed and then some. The property was beautiful and a perfect place to escape to for the weekend just outside eminence! I will definitely be returning.

Cute place, we ended up with more people then expected but worked out just fine. Road is a little rough to get to the cabin. Only thing that was a little annoying was 3 trucks came by with about 10 dogs in cages in each one right before sunset and there was a lot of barking and howling until 3am in the morning that night. Wasn't sure what that was all about. Nice landlord . Brought us extra wood for the firepit.

River Fishing Base Camp
This was a perfect central location for our week long fishing trip. Central to almost everything and absolutely relaxing! Up on a ridge with a beautiful view and plenty of animals around to appreciate. Clean, comfortable, quite, away from the crowds and a great hostess made sure we had everything we needed. Mary Kay was an amazing host to a truly comfortable cabin! I've stayed in the general area many times and this is probably going to be my go to property. I have always worked remotely so I need net to be able to travel. I was able to work and stream movies easily (hint: charge the mifi and move it to the window sill opposite the sink). I will say that I borrowed my daughter's CRV and might hesitate to take my Accord, although I think it would be doable (just not as easy). But what really made the difference was that it was so peaceful and I was able to truly relax. This time of year, the goal was mostly to escape for a few days and not so much hiking, but the property was still great to explore. I highly recommend the property!

We had a wonderful stay in this adorable cabin. It was very clean and well-equipped. Our hosts were so nice and accommodating. We had everything we needed! This experience was definitely worth the 7 hour drive from Des Moines. We highly recommend this VRBO to anyone visiting the Eminence area.

Relax off the beaten path
My family of 3 was looking for a relaxing after Christmas getaway and this was the perfect place. It is definitely off the beaten path and I was glad we had driven my husband’s truck, as there are some steep gravel roads. Mary Kay and her whole family were very welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed, even helping us get our fire started both nights. We enjoyed walking through the woods to the pond and the creek and playing games in the cabin when it was raining. We plan to make a return trip.

Peaceful easy feeling
From start to finish one of the best stays I have had in my Eminence experience . The Higgins are such a lovely family and made us feel at home from the style of decor their lovely cabin to providing a nightly pit fire . The property is stunning with both views and access to the river and Eminence proper . A true DIAMOND !

Relaxing with family
I and my 3 adult children had a 3 nights stay. It was quiet and relaxing. Forgot about checking the time. Since our stay is in early November the temperature was in the upper 50's during the day. There is a great fire pit where we had a nice fire with wood supplied by the property. The river is a short drivable distance and beautiful. The cabin is well appointed with kitchen appliances, cookware and dishes. We enjoyed our time greatly and Mary Kay was a delight.
