The Space:
The Gingerbread River House is a tranquil 4-bedroom retreat overlooking the Cartecay River in East Ellijay in the Northwest Georgia mountains.
Surrounded by apple orchards and wineries, this vacation home offers much more than just peaceful relaxation. For adventurers, there are kayaking outfitters, mountains to hike, lakes and rivers nearby to explore, or water holes to fish. For the non-adventurers, there are plenty of antique stores, trading posts, and places off the beaten path to discover. Whether you want to pick apples or berries will probably be one of the hardest decisions you will have to make while vacationing here.
Downtown Ellijay is just a 15-minute drive if you want to find typical stores, restaurants, or a night out on the town.
The Gingerbread House is a 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath home overlooking the gently rushing Cartecay River.
The double entrance doors welcome you into the large foyer, next to the new kitchen with all new cabinets, stainless appliances, large island, with granite countertops. Hardwood floors run throughout the entire main & upstairs levels.
The kitchen gives onto the family room area with a comfortable seating area, wall-mounted flat screen smart TV (all TVs are smart; log in to your streaming accounts for streaming only) WIFI, and plenty of games for family fun.
The dining room has a large table that can be extended for large groups, with chandelier and sconce lighting on dimmers throughout all the main living/dining/kitchen areas.
The master on main is tastefully decorated to make you feel at home. 3 sets of French doors run across the back of the main level, opening to the back upper deck. One set opens from the master bedroom, one from the dining area, and one from the family room. Connected to the master is the master bathroom with slate tile, & a granite vanity.
Upstairs you will find a large kid's bedroom with 2 sets of twin bunk beds, a smart TV, and toys. This room has a small balcony with French doors overlooking the family room below.
Also upstairs is another guest room with a queen bed with an antique dresser & nightstand. Directly across the hall from this room is a large full bathroom.
In the basement, you will find a secondary master bedroom with a king bed, and an attached half bath. There is slate tile throughout the entire basement, as well as a small laundry room with full-size laundry machines.
Continuing down the basement hallway will lead to another small bunkroom with 2 more bunk beds*, & a family room area with a flat-screen smart TV, 2 large chairs, a coffee table, a foosball table, and more room to enjoy! (*The small basement bunk bed room remains locked unless the home is rented to a large group, and has rented the home for more than 10 people.)
Outside the basement door is the lower deck with a hot tub.
Beyond the deck you will find a large fire pit rimmed with river rocks, surrounded by Adirondack chairs. Please bring your own firewood.
On the left at the river's edge, there is a small set of stairs, leading down to a sandy beach area of the river, with a swimming hole just beyond the beach.
The property across from us is private property and the owners have stated that they do not want people trespassing on their property please.
You will find it easy to unwind, but hard to go home after your stay at The Gingerbread House.
