The Bear Cave is a true gem north of Durango away from the hustle and bustle of people, traffic, concrete, and all of those things people like me look so forward to getting away from in a place like this. Kate is an awesome host that answered any questions I had regarding her home in the area. For instance, I had a question about air-conditioning and she mentioned that the nights are very cool in the days warm up, but it stays comfortable. Being from Texas I am very conditioned with A/C which is why I asked, and it was exactly as she described in our communication. The weather was wonderful in June. This was a perfect homebase for me as a solo traveler, and I didn’t have to drive to Durango, except to reload on groceries once during the week I was there and everything in nature from hiking, fishing, scenic views, million dollar highway drives and walks near me, condominium, village, fully satisfied, and more everything I had expected. There is a fitness room, which was nice to keep my routine, and indoor pool for guests, laundry facilities in the same building and an 80s style game room with a pool table and arcade. The Bear Cave had all of the amenities as described in the listing, and was was very thoughtfully planned and designed for guests to enjoy without worry. I look forward to visiting again and probably again!
