« Ranau Backpackers Hostel is in the center of town, and since Ranau is such a small town, food & stores are all within walking distance. It’s also right across from the central market. I stayed in a twin room with private bathroom good for a solo traveler like me. The A/C in the room worked well, as well as WiFi, and overall the room was good, except the bed / mattress was too hard & hence not comfortable; the same goes for the pillow. « It has been a short stay, but I loved it. You feel well there, and the super friendly staff and vibe account a lot for it. I enjoyed meeting the staff and sharing stories of Borneo. « Halo hostel is a good option for couples travelling. The rooms are small, but have storage space, individual bathrooms and are clean. The area is really good if you want convenience. Walkable to the downtown area and jetty. Breakfast is made to order eggs, toast, fruit and coffee. My only con is that it does get a bit loud at night from surrounding bars, so just bring ear plugs. »
