« Thanks for letting us use your house. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed the bath. Huge lawn for playing soccar and badminton. »

« Just a place to stay- not nice or cozy at all. We should have paid attention to the reviews that weren’t good, but as we aren’t overly picky people we thought those leaving bad reviews were likely exaggerating - they weren’t. NO nice touches and RUN DOWN. The host supplies next to nothing, no serviettes/ napkins, Kleenex or even salt. What was there was more than likely left by past travellers. Chipped dishes and literally every mug was chipped. Broken toilet seat, no garbage can in bathroom,...

« While we only stayed one night here, it was the perfect location to get away from the noise of town traffic yet very close to Hokitika and right on the way to the Hokitika Gorge. There were only two of us but perfect spot for family with children or couples travelling together. »

« Such a fab place to stay! Everything is super comfortable and cosy and the stocked kitchen surprisingly generous. Loved the outdoor bath - anytime of day as the setting is wonderfully private. Ōkārito is incredibly special. The lagoon and waterways, the ocean, the wildlife and birdsong, the forest, the mountains - there is nowhere else in the world like this! Having a great dwelling really contributed to the entire awesome experience. 100% recommend. And such good comms with the host - so easy! »
