District de Svitavy : idées de séjour, infos pratiques et culturelles

Renaissance chateau with arcaded courtyard, a centre of humanistic learning in past times.

Apart from classic exhibitions in Moravská Tƙebová Chateau, do not miss the medieval torture chamber, which is the largest of its kind in the Czech Republic. Here you can experience the atmosphere of an execution chamber and try various torture instruments and means of punishment from medieval times. Another interesting exhibition with interactive features which you have to visit is the alchemistical laboratory of Master Bonacin, where perhaps you can prepare an elixir of eternal youth with a bit of luck.

Schindler’s factory 'Vitka' at Brněnec may be named Czech cultural heritage site
Anything to save? Site where Nazi industrialist turned humanitarian Oskar Schindler moved .

A crumbling factory in the eastern Bohemia— immortalized in Steven Speilberg’s 1993 film “Schindler’s List” as the place that led to the ultimate salvation of some 1,200 refugees from the Holocaust – is set to become a Czech cultural heritage site. But time is running short to save it.

The factory lies in the town of Brněnec, not far from where Oskar Schindler was raised, back when it was deep within the Sudeten German region of Czechoslovakia (and known by the locals as BrĂŒnnlitz). Before to the Second World War broke out, the factory was owned by the Jewish Loew-Beer family.
