The Dexter Inn at first glance isn’t terrible. The location as well as outside upkeep of property weren’t bad. The guy at the front desk helped save me money on my room by suggesting I book the room online instead of right there in lobby. I mean who don’t like saving money!? The room cleanliness is what my biggest issue was. Walking up the stairs I noticed the boxspring, mattress, and metal bed frames for most the rooms were sitting in the hallways. Walked into my room and flip the lights to see a bedbug in the sink upside down squirming around alive. Instantly I took a photo and showed the guy at the front. They have a no refund sign posted in the lobby but he agreed to give me a refund because of the circumstances. With me booking the room online I had to contact their customer service to initiate the refund for him to approve it and receive it back to my debit card, which could taking up to 15 days.

we are remodeling some of our rooms: paint, carpet and other amenities are being replaced. since we are open 24/7, 365 days a year: we have to do remodeling while property is still open. I do apologize for any inconvenience and we had expert check the room and there were no signs of bugs in mattress, headboard, or room. We are almost done with all the rooms freshly painted. thank you

Sam and Gina were wonderful! They made me feel well cared for, and endeavored to fix anything not working. i.e. they brought a new fridge. Never were able to get the phone working. The mattress was so soft, it really needs to go on a sheet of plywood. But I would stay there again tomorrow, such nice people!!!

For the cost, I cannot complain. I do not mind to stay in a place like this by myself as I am a traveling salesman. Absolutely would not stay with my family if we happened to be passing through. Upon arrival the main level appears to be clean and well kept. The second floor that I stayed on was a different story. The stairwell was incredibly dirty as was the hallway leading to my room. In my room the bedding was clean as were towels, carpet was dirty in all corners, the cloth chairs in room were stained and extremely outdated. Bathroom had no trim at all and needs updated. I’m ok with old, not ok with old and cruddy. Again as a solo traveler who can avoid touching everything in sight it’s ok for the price. If my kids were there I would have an anxiety attack trying to keep them from touching stuff! Breakfast area was clean and provided make your own waffles which is always good so no complaints there.

Thank you for your response. I do apologize for stairs being dirty, but during the month of February we have Snow Geese hunters that trail alot of mud through the hallways and stairs. we do try to keep it clean once a shift. as to other things in room, I will personally check rooms and find a solution.

Only one coffee and 1 cup in the room. If you want another one, it is $2.50. Just add $2.50 on the room price, and put 2 in the room.

we do have coffee in breakfast room, so many people do not want to be charged for extra coffee in the room. Alot of customers do not like the price change, so we try our best to accomodate everyone. thank you for the suggestion.

This is the worst place I have ever been to. It smells like an old musty man that smoked for 30 years. The staff said they might be able to find a cleaner room! Floors mirrors and bedding was dirty, we stayed there for 10-15 min to decide what we were going to do. We ended up Leaving and driving 25 minutes down the road to a different hotel.

The attendant responded immediately. He was courteous and efficient. My only complaint was the car dealership across the street kept the speakers blaring all night. The third time they woke me, I just left. Which was 3:12 am

Was convenient to our weekend plans. Linens were clean but dingy. Mattress was ok. Towels were small and thin. The facility seemed generally l rundown and lights in hall were dimly lit. My husband said he actually saw a bird inside the building. Breakfast consisted of pancakes or waffles, cold cereal, coffee, juice and bread to toast. You could help yourself to a large jar or peanut butter and another of jelly for your toast. We choose to eat breakfast at a nearby restaurant. Can’t believe this place received 4 stars on trip advisor.

Check in was easy. Room was dated. Linens were clean but basic quality. Early morning workers use this hotel so if you have outside room, noisy starting around 6 a.m. Saying there is continental breakfast is a stretch. There are makings for waffles, cold cereal, and bread with jars of peanut butter and grape jelly. There was no fruit or any type of breakfast rolls. Convenient location but would not plan another stay.

Everything was excellent except for the air conditioner. The drain was clogged and made the floor wet around the air conditioner and the chair sitting nearby. I notified the owner and he said he would make sure he would take care of the problem.

Not impressed. It was OK and clean, but lacked maintenance. lighting was terrible. We had a long day driving through the Ozarks and needed a place to stay. In that context, it was OK.

The pool should have been cleaned by now. It has been shut down for quite a while. It's not difficult to drain and refill a pool. That was the reason I stayed here

We arrived and checked in with no problem. Staff was friendly. The pool wasn’t operating and that really disappointed us as we were looking forward to it and one of the reasons why we stayed there. The other big issue was ants we had to change rooms due to ants literally covering the desktop in the room. We took a nap and woke up to the ants invading the room they were also on the walls, by the air conditioner and I found some in the bed. After we changed rooms our stay was good it was nice and quiet the hotel just needs some updating. However I don’t think we would stay here again.

we live in Southern Missouri and during that week it was flooding with rain, so all the homes around here have ants that try to get in the buildings to get away from rain. pool was out of order due to heavy rain for four days and discoloration due to chemical imbalance. i do apologize and i am glad we were able to switch you and make it little better. thank you for your review.

I will never do that again,
It was hideous (Dexter Inn) walls looked like they were patched not painted and it smelled horrible, I went to the store and bought incense to help the smell, The TV and stand were so dusty someone wrote wash me, and it wasn't me, so needless to say it was from the last people, and no one cleaned it. Safety was an issue, The doors going inside is just open, the locks were not working so anyone can walk inside those doors. It was next to a dispensary, and it was busy even people at the hotel who looked like residents weekly paid so with some cleaning and patience and please get some air in those halls it smells, and it was hot having to walk upstairs. The lady working at the desk was very nice and helpful so that was the plus staying there.

we give you what the online site had reserved for you. sometimes online it will guarantee the room but not room type. we have not had this happen before, but i will address your concerns. there were gulf tornaments, and pool table tornaments in town that weekend so sometimes the guys do sit outside pool by grassy area to just talk and enjoy themselves. I apologize that you had seen cans outside in grasssy areas. we do have trash cans out there. we will try our best to clean up better in that area. thank you for your reply.

sorry for your inconvenience. We try to put 4 different type of pillows in rooms, because every guest has different preference. Next time if you come to desk, they will exchange your pillows or will get you extra different pillows for you. we want our guests to have good night sleep and great stay.

After making it online, I called to verify the reservation because I needed two ground-floor rooms, non-smoking with outside access because we have two dogs. I was assured by the man I spoke to that we would have just that. Upon arriving, I learned we had two upstairs rooms not next to each other, with no outdoor access. The clerk at the desk, Shannon took the steps to put us in rooms as requested however we did end up having to stay in smoking rooms which was very disappointing. Shannon did everything in her power to make sure our stay was comfortable. The amenities are older but the accommodations met our family's needs for the one-night stay.

I apologize for any inconvenience. we do not guarantee bottom floor outside access to anyone, but we do try our best to meet your needs. Bottom floor rooms we try to accommodate our handicap and elderly guests first. I will look into your situation and see what happened and take care of this in future.

You should have notified the frontdesk and they would have taken care of the issues. Our housekeepers clean rooms everyday and make beds. If you had Do Not Disturb on door, then that would expain the situation. Thank you for the review.

My room was a suite and it was very big. Under the side table next to the bed was a tennis ball from how many guests ago?? On the other side of the bed between the wall and the side table were some pennies on the floor.... from how many guests ago? So it was an okay stay....
