Thank you Sansrita for your review, we are very sorry you didn't enjoy your stay with us. We wish you would have brought your concerns to our attention since you stayed with us 2 nights. Although we could not have moved your room for Saturday as we were fully booked, we could have moved you for the 2nd night. We also would have been happy to provide you with extra blankets and a space heater if needed. You had full control of the heat for your room so you could have turned the heat up if you were cold. Our weather in the mountains is much colder than in Denver.The Daisy suite is on the ground floor of the main lodge building. Unfortunately when you book through a 3rd party you are making a decision based on the limited information we are able to provide through that 3rd party. When booking a unique property like ours, it is always best to research on the property website or call directly to be able to make an informed decision. This would also have helped avoid the confusion about check-in times and common guest areas that you experienced.The windows in the master bedroom overlook our pond and gardens. Unfortunately when you stay with us in the winter there is not much garden to view. We also mention a garden view because the patio that goes with the suite overlooks the waterfall, gardens and our main lawn area which at this time of year is covered in snow. You are correct that the kitchen window overlooks the parking area, but again that is bordered by flower beds and the center island is a flower garden. In the winter, we agree that it is not much to look at. We are not sure as to why you would feel claustrophobic in a 634 sq ft suite with a king master bedroom, full living room and full kitchen, but our pricing is very competitive for the area. We are happy your son was able to enjoy the adventure!

We are not sure what you are referring to as smelly unless it's the smell of Febreze. We understand that at times there can be traffic noise if sitting outside which has been aggravated by the current construction around the lake which backs up traffic onto Hwy 73. We also wanted to put a ceiling fan in our Farmhouse room, but the older building wiring would not support that. We've never had a problem without AC until this past summer where our temperatures have been consistently warmer than normal. We always have tabletop fans available for guest use which we should have mentioned to you. Next summer we will be putting them in any of the rooms without AC so guests don't have to ask for them. We hope you will have the opportunity to come and visit with us again in the future!

We are sorry you didn't enjoy your stay, but your account is not quite accurate. When you book a room for 2 guests it is expected that you will be 2 guests in the room. When your friend's husband unexpectedly joins you, we expect that you would let us know. Especially when that also meant another vehicle in our parking lot. Perhaps you didn't observe the security cameras on our parking lot which allow us to see when and who enters and exits the property. When asked about the additional guest you lied outright which understandably may have caused less of a welcoming attitude. You didn't request to have your friend's 78 year old mother over for coffee. You were in town for a reunion and mentioned that some people that were up already were planning to come for coffee since we had so many nice outdoor seating areas. After being lied to about the additional guest you already had, we were not in a welcoming mood to have additional people join you for coffee. If you had been upfront and honest and requested to have some visitors for a short time to enjoy a cup of coffee and had not lied about the additional guest you already had, we may have been more welcoming. Most guests appreciate the cleanliness of our rooms, but if you were sensitive to the clean smell you could have opened the windows. We instruct guests not to leave the door open because there is no screen door and if left open you may be visited by chipmunks or mice that try to get into the room. That is just part of living in the mountains.As a small family owned and operated lodge we strive for excellent customer service, but we also expect that our guests respect us, our rules and our property.

Thank you James, we are so happy you enjoyed your stay. Highway 73 can be busy at times and is especially busy at this time due to the construction by the lake which tends to back up traffic. It is a small price to pay for our location just 1/2 mile from historic downtown and the lake. Luckily our buildings being constructed of plaster and rock make them very soundproof once inside. We hope you have the opportunity to come and visit with us again in the future!

Thank you Amy for your review. We are a mountain lodge and our furnishings are meant to be rustic, but since the room you were in was recently renovated, we aren't sure what you felt was outdated. The restored barnwood floors, rustic furnishings and fireplace as well as our handmade quilts are all to give our guests the comfortable, cozy feeling of a mountain lodge. The 4 rules we have for the hot tub that we go over with guests upon check-in are for the safety and enjoyment of all of our guests. We hope you enjoyed the quiet, peaceful setting we offer our guests even though we are only 1/2 mile from historic downtown and Evergreen lake.

We are very sorry Shelbey that your stay was not as you had hoped. You were in our Daisy suite on the ground floor of the main lodge building which is not a basement. Unfortunately when you book through a 3rd party you don't always get all of the information, but the room description and pictures were all accurate so not sure why you thought you were booking a cabin. Perhaps you also looked at our cabin, but it was unavailable for your dates.
We wish you would have brought the issue with the bathroom door to our attention so that we could address it. It was a simple adjustment to get it to close properly.
You made a reservation for 2 adults. We do charge for additional guests in the room and if you had put the correct number of guests on the reservation you would have been quoted the correct price and could have made an informed decision to book with us or not. Children of driving age are usually consider adults.
We are sorry you didn't fully enjoy your stay and find it hard to understand why you weren't able to relax either in the suite or on the property.

We are very sorry Elizabeth that you did not enjoy your stay with us. Since you stayed multiple nights, we are sorry you didn't bring any concerns to our attention during your stay so that we could have tried to address them.
We are confused as to why you felt you were in anyway treated rudely or unfriendly. Guests are often disappointed when they show up 3 hours prior to check-in and their room isn't ready, but as a small family owned and operated lodge and we can't always support early check-in during our busy season. We also understand guests disappointment when they make a reservation for 2 guests and show up with 3 for which they are charged. We pride ourselves on customer service and both exchanges were handled professionally. We are surprised that you felt otherwise and wish you would have brought this to our attention.
As for the room complaints, the suite you stayed in is on the ground floor of our main lodge building which has 3 floors. The suite was completely gutted and renovated in May with a new bathroom, kitchen, flooring and paint. We will agree due to the limited windows the room tends to be dark, but it most certainly isn't damp or musty. We are looking into adding some additional lighting. We do not advertise to have A/C. Most guests when entering that suite feel that there is A/C because of the foot thick plaster and rock walls. If the heat is kept off then the room stays very comfortable. We encourage guests to keep the windows closed during the heat of the day and open them in the evening when our nighttime temperatures go down to the low 50's. We monitor the temperature for all of our rooms and the temperature in that suite during your stay was between 67-70 degrees.
That suite is partially under our living quarters and we make every effort in the evenings and early morning to minimize any foot traffic or noise. Unfortunately as with many old buildings there can be plumbing noises, but those would actually be from the guest room above your suite, not our living quarters. During the day we are a working lodge. We rarely get guests that come to our beautiful area of Colorado that spend their time just in their room all day so it hasn't been an issue. We wish you would have brought this to our attention. Our understanding was that you were in town for a wedding with multiple family members in the area and would not be in the room much so we didn't make an effort to minimize our daytime activities.
It would appear that staying in a small family owned and operated lodge is not your normal choice of accommodation and perhaps you'd have been happier in a more standard hotel setting.

We are sorry that you didn't fully enjoy your stay, but enjoyed our property and the newly renovated suite that you occupied.
We agree that Highway 73 can be busy during the day, but traffic slows down considerably after about 6pm in the evening. Considering the suite you were in is in our main lodge building and the walls are a foot thick made of plaster and rock, we find it hard to believe you were bothered by traffic noise overnight. Our ground floor rooms due to the old style construction are virtually soundproof when the door is closed.
Your reservation was for 2 adults. Upon arrival you added a 3rd adult and 2 children to the reservation which was the additional $77. All of our pricing is double occupancy (2 people) and we do charge $25 per person additional because additional people in the room use multiple beds, more towels, more water, more in-room products, produce more garbage and requires more cleaning. If when you made your reservation you had put the correct number of guests you would have seen the correct cost and could have made your decision whether or not to book with us.

We are very sorry you were disappointed in your stay. Unfortunately your visit was during an artic blast and our nighttime temperatures were going down to -15 degrees. The fireplace in your room is on a thermostat which when you checked in was at 68 degrees as was the room temperature. It may have taken a bit longer than normal for the room to heat to higher than 68 degrees due to the falling outdoor temperatures. There is no possibility that the fireplace went off by itself in the middle of the night since it's on a thermostat. We have checked and the fireplace and thermostat are functioning properly. If the heat went down overnight than it was because the thermostat was turned down. Our fireplaces never go off unless a guest specifically turns the heat off on the thermostat. We did have a problem with our hot tub being unable to maintain the normal 104 degrees due to the excessive cold. Since it is located outside, when the outdoor temperature dips down to -15 as it did on the evening of your stay there is no way the hot tub can hold it's temperature. This is not specific to our hot tub, but to any hot tub located outside in the open. Sorry you didn't enjoy the jetted tub in the bathroom although we aren't sure why it wasn't what was expected since it is exactly a jetted bathtub which is how it is described. We are sorry that your Valentine's night was not as you had hoped, but the weather is really not under our control. Luckily we do not get that many artic nights.

We are sorry that you didn't fully enjoy your stay. Guests generally feel are rooms are oversized and less expensive compared to other accommodations in the area. We apologize if the hot tub wasn't up to temperature, but guests at times turn down the temperature and then don't turn it back up when they leave the hot tub. Unfortunately we sanitize the tub daily, but it is impossible for us to check it after each guests use to be sure the temperature is set properly.

You probably would have been more comfortable in one of our larger rooms since your plans changed and you had your daughter with you which we were happy to waive the extra person fees.

Unfortunately from the information provided we are unable to locate your reservation. We are sorry you didn't fully enjoy your stay. We apologize if either of us was rude to your friend over the phone, we pride ourselves on good customer service. As for pricing, we are competitive with the other lodging in Evergreen if not cheaper than most.
