Guide de voyage: Cyngor Bro Dyffryn Cennen 2026

Cyngor Bro Dyffryn Cennen : idées de séjour, infos pratiques et culturelles

#lksawaydays 4a/2020 today we decided to step back in time and enjoy a Welsh castle double header. Car packed, satnav set and the ipod on playing the back catalogue of the Manchester Orchestra (top tunes) Our first of the two planned castles was Carreg Cennen in the village of Trap inside the Brecon Beacons National Park. We arrived as the weather seemed to get murkier, perhaps a little bit of luck kept the rain away, we parked up in the free, quiet but again rather small car park. The site has a cafe and shop, these can be found around from the car park as you enter, all of which sit below the prominent ruins dwelling upon the hill. After paying £5 per adult we hiked up the slope and enjoyed the impressive views of Towy Valley, on a clear day it must be spectacular! The six towered castle built in the time of Lord Rhys in the late 1100's has sat in ruin since 1462, once inside you can move around the skeleton freely, walking across the base or along stairways to see more of the structure. Make sure you head down to the naturally made cave which runs under the castle and travels deep into the hillside. Be cautious, once you start walking along the cave it's pitch black and a little slippery under foot, we used our phone touches but you can hire torches at the pay hut for £1.50. #lksawaydays give Carreg Castle a 👍
