good location, very good meal at the restaurant
nice place to stay; would reccomand the old rooms in the castle part rather than the modern part (much less charming). very good restaurant (very important to book as very busy). It was a shame the TV set didn't worked and wasn't fixed!!

Unfortunately we don't have maintenance on site 24/7 so especially in the evenings, it can take us a short while to investigate issues. This is an absolutely amazing property. Travelling with our adult children, we had 3 ‘4 poster’ rooms in the old part of the hotel - each uniquely decorated with great charm. Very comfortable and quiet, can highly recommended.

Great welcoming staff. Quiet for a weekend. Staff at the Brasserie and Spa really friendly and helpful. Some areas of the hotel a bit tired but overall lovely.

Only stayed one night - hotel certainly has the wow factor on arrival - sadly the corridors and rooms feel very dated - need some serious expenditure - although the corridor carpet to our room seemed to be brand new so perhaps there is a programme planned - the room didn’t have a smart tv which seems very old fashioned and we had nothing to watch as no Netflix or catch up -however the pool area was spotless and lovely and we had a great relax in the pool and spa - the breakfast was also absolutely delicious - very quiet and lovely food (little sad there was no meat/cheese to go with croissants which would have been nice but no big deal) we did get a great rate for the hotel stay and for what we paid it was good - although the mattress was very saggy in places and not very comfortable - again perhaps these will be replaced in a programme of works? Had a lovely walk around the grounds this morning - hotel was fine for one night but has potential to her absolutely wonderful if money is spent on it!!

Property is excellent, very historical. Had feature room which was lovely and had great facilities (inc wine and beer in room). Food wasn’t great, we explained to staff who were very apologetic. Roads leading to hotel are full of pot holes and in desperate need of resurfacing. Staff were very friendly and helpful

Nice hotel, good location, slight attention req'd
We arrived earlier than check in time but the receptionist was lovely and gave us 2 rooms there and then. We had a ground floor room as we had a dog, the room was dated and the voile curtain was slightly mouldy at the bottom but our daughters room was far better on the 1st floor. We had lunch in the Brasserie, unfortunately, it really wasn't very good. We used the spa and had treatments, this was very clean and lovely. Breakfast was very busy as expected but fine overall. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. Close to some very lovely old inns which allow dogs.

Upon driving 4 hours to check at night in we were told that the restaurant was fully booked and there were no options to dine in the hotel but we could order a takeaway. Grand building from the outside in open grounds but really needing investment as hotel looked tired

Very average and no worth the usual rate
Overall there was a lack of attention to detail. There was a blue line from the top to the bottom of the television and the towel in the bathroom had a very large rip on it. There was no water provided which was surprising for this standard of hotel.

The hotel itself is very lovely but the windows looked like they haven't been cleaned for a little while. The restaurants food is also lovely but a somewhat limited menu abut the wait for our mains was a little too long but the head waitress offered us the bottle of wine for free as a good will gesture.

Very nice stay, nice place - nicer staff
We were only staying for one night to see a show in Crewe so didn't spend a lot of time at the hotel. The room was nice, bed very comfortable. There wasn't a lot of room for other furniture so hard to be critical about that. Nice bathroom, good toiletries. When we came back from the show we had a drink in the Terrace Bar, which was fine. Service was excellent and the drink selection was good although the wine choice, by the glass, was a little limited. The only meal we had was breakfast. The staff were brilliant despite being under a lot of pressure from the large number of guests needing attention. All smiles and very helpful. The food was standard hotel fare and everything was available, sometimes with a short wait but as stated the staff were clearly short-handed but coping admirably.

A well earned reputation for excellence.
A little bit of constructive feedback. Disappointed with the breakfast organisation e.g slow to refill items and respond to requests to do so. Also ran out of some basic items. It would also be nice if all diners at a table could be left to finish a course together rather than several visits to clear plates before everyone had finished (pet peeve). Please ensure there are enough supplies provided to cover the number of guests in the room eg shower gel/towels.

Sold on the grandeur but the reality is average
Very palatial and impressive, long driveway, vast grounds, reception is main entrance to old building. Unless you're booked into an expensive suite you're then sent down through this lengthy route with all your bags to get to a room which is in the newer hidden 'wing' built out of sight to the left and behind the old building. Rooms are spacious, quite plush, bed is getting a bit tired and squeaky, decor is dated and paper is beginning to peel. Very low water pressure in gravity fed generic shower over bath, bath plug is captive flip-over style chome disc so you constantly plug the bath whilst having a shower by standing on it. Lighting is all warm temp and low wattage so you'll need your phone torch for any decent light to read by. Fridge in room is a welcome positive, not plugged in when you arrive so remember to do this first. TV has all generic freeview channels, signal is decent with no blocking, remote is typical LG hospitality option with million and one pointless buttons all in the wrong place. The brasserie is absolutely riddled with flies everywhere and the staff don't seem to be bothered when mentioning the issue. Food itself is typically pretentious and expensive. Breakfast buffet isn't magic either, hot buffet is luke warm but will keep you alive but the presence of flies on everything does nothing for the appetite.

Lovely overnight stay. Used the leisure facilities and they were nice and clean. Breakfast was a little chaotic, not refilling the cereals etc meant everyone was asking for something and the staff were backwards and forwards. Food was good though. Room was in the annex which was fine for us. Spacious and clean room.
