Very nice location with shopping and dining options nearby. Room was very clean and bed was comfortable if a bit hard. Breakfast was great; the attendant was on top of keeping everything filled and hot. Wide array of hot and cold foods; something for everyone.
Positive things about this hotel were that it was convenient to I-5, the staff was pleasant, the room had been cleaned well, I enjoyed a swim, and the breakfast was good. Negative things were that the room was dark and its layout was poor so two guests were constantly having to crawl around one another. During the night, the building occasionally hummed/rattled which awakened us; and we could hear the interstate. The mattress was so-so. I don't know whether they use surge pricing, but I know that it was full the night we stayed there and it was expensive (approximately $380)--way too high considering the quality and amenities.
Im traveling with my parents who do not have Hotels.com and do not know how this works. My mom wanted to use another program to capture the points. (My parents are in their late 80's.) I wish the person behind the desk had spoken to ger kindly, had taken the time to listen to her, and connect a little, to explain why he could not or would not do that. He was very dismissive and her feelings were hurt. When you get older, it can be tough to communicate. We should all treat older folks kindly, take the time, and hear them. They really have a lot to offer and getting older can be pretty tough.
