Check out is at 12 & since 10 they started twice to call & show up at the door to remind check out time as if it’s the first time being in hotel !! Very unhappy with the management & how they dealt with their returning customer. Stayed there few times & just once when I needed to change a booking that I only made an hour earlier from full night to half day they didn’t agree! Fear of making 20£ less one time they lost a customer all together.

Find a better alternative!
The hotel is definitely overpriced! Cleanliness lacks. basic amenities like faulty air con was a put off! However, mr tushaar was helpful to move us to a better room quickly. There were dead cockroaches here and there. Though the lobby is renovated, poor flooring and dirty worn out rugs in the room corridors disappoint. The ocean view is the saving grace but the busy road in front and frequent trains passing by makes it noisy. Breakfast was decent but nothing wow!

Overall, I was disappointed with this property. There were some plus points: The management staff were excellent. The GM Dr. Shobhit and the manager Yusuf. They were both very friendly and willing to accommodate. They made effort to continuously improve which I appreciate. Another plus is the rooms are large which helps with large families. Also the kitchen staff and waiters were accommodating and they continuously improved breakfast. However, the property is unfortunately not up to par. The pictures online are not representative of actuality. The rooms, while large, were not clean. The rest of the property is also not clean. Looks old and worn down. Elevators are dirty. The bathrooms in the rooms were hopeless. None of the showers drained properly. My taps were loose. The bathrooms were never cleaned properly. Finally, the worst thing about the rooms is they are not at all sound-proof. Felt like the windows were made of paper. The property is in front the railway, and you will hear the trains as if they are passing through your own room. The property needs to invest in sound-proofing! The staff at the front desk are not helpful. Alifa in particular was rude and not friendly. Finally the most important part is value. The price we paid was not worth it. I could have paid the same or less and stayed in a better 5 star property such as Cinnamon Grand or The Kingsbury, or Platinum 1 Suites. Next time I would stay at those properties instead.

这本来是一个长故事,但每每想起都让人恶心,所以下面简短地说说: 2019/01/31 早上0635到酒店入住,前台查找很久预计信息,入住信息确认后,提供房卡并安排人员引导入住... 房间是狭长的套间,房间里有一种莫名的气味,让你很难在房间里感觉到舒适... 酒店有餐厅,健身房和室内泳池,但仅仅只有表示有;预订信息里写着包含早餐,但餐厅一早并没有服务提示,,也基本无人用餐,所以放弃;健身房的空间,少有的设施,无法转身的空间,还不如去海边跑跑步;泳池不比浴缺大多少,所以... 2019/02/02,上午1035计划火车Colombo到Kandy, 收拾东西准备Check-out时,房间门在未敲门及问咨的情况下并打开,发现有人后,未表示歉意后又关闭..0930前台check-out,前台给出一份Early Checkin的账单,表示非常惊愕,告之对方,这个账单在Checkin时,没有任何人对于入住时间可能会费用,做出说明或提供账单签署,这种行为是非常不专业的;并且Hotel平台上显示酒店入住时间是24小时;前台打电话给酒店预计服务本地市场人员,电话中再次向对方说明,酒店方事先未说明,事后收费的行为,让人无法接受后,对方与酒店方沟通无果;前台这时叫来一位穿着休闲的管理人员,向其说明情况,对方在未表明其身份,也未事先就工作人员的不专业行为道歉的情况下,而且采用的是非沟通协商的态度,本人拒绝他的沟通后,其对前台工作人员用非常不友善的态度说“Don't let him go if he don't paid it”...这是最让人恶心的场景..如果不是行程早有计划,或许我一定会让他为他的不专业进行道歉... 在此之前,本人一直用平静的语气与对方沟通,在本人用愤怒的语气,告诉前台工作人员,我在意的不是账单,而是对方处理事情的不专业与态度,我支付了“Early Check-in”账单并离开... 如果没有经历这一切,无法想像如何糟糕.. 不专业的服务,不应该获得任何Money,哪怕他们只关心Money!

Great view of the Ocean if you get the balcony class. Convenient location. with quite a lot of eating places. Getting to the Colombo Fort and any location is also easy using the uber ot tuk tuk. Only pull back is the room fixtures getting old. Generally a good hotel.

Very good Location, and that's good enough.
I got a very big suite, more like a one-bedroom apartment which is comfortable. The location is great. Right by the ocean. Two major casinos as well as a shopping mall, a major tea shop and McDonald's restaurant are within 10 to 15 minutes walking distance. The vehicle charge by the hotel to go to the airport is a bit high (US$25,) and the driver, who openly admitted he drove under fatigue, asked me to pay for the toll. I thought it should be included in the charge.

Very old hotel not well maintained
The hotel room we had (after we changed rooms as it wasn't the room type we booked) was very old and in much need of repair (as was the first room too in fact). None of the blinds in the room worked so had to stay down (unable to take advantage of the ocean view room), had large holes and were falling down letting light stream into the bedroom. Other issues with cleanliness of the kitchenette and bathroom as well. The website says a self-service laundry is available but despite travelling with a baby staff insisted a laundry was not available for guests. Decking around the pool was poorly maintained and actually quite dangerous. The hotel provided free drinking water which we were grateful for.

I was definitely NOT pleased! The carpet was smelly, the bathroom was leaky and had a cockroach. My friend woke up with red spots on her back and face. I presume it came from the mattress or the room itself was infested.. There was no hand shower in the wash room. The hotel staff didnt understand the meaning of travel adapter. There were few good things, but I don't think they matter against these bad experiences. We came to the room only to crash at night, so talking about it to the staff to change sheets and clean the toilets made no sense - as we were pressed for time. Definitely disappointing!

Needs some updating.
Whilst I was basically happy staying at Ocean Edge, the rooms are dated and not what many travellers from Europe or Australasia might expect. In my particular suite, Ocean Panorama, neither the toilet button or bath plug button worked properly. The bathroom was either unkempt, aged or dirty. Room cleaning staff were young males, very polite, friendly and helpful. Room cleaning or tidying was, however, fairly cursory. Reception staff were more or less either unwelcoming or passive. I was not ‘welcomed’ at any time during my stay, notwithstanding the reception area adjoins the lifts. Breakfast buffet was varied and tasty. Breakfast room staff were, again, either somewhat friendly or passive. On departure at 4.30am, the night reception staff member asked if I had used any of the fridge contents, Mars bar and some drinks to a value of less than $10, and I said no. The contents had been checked each day in any event. The reception staff member then phoned someone to check if my statement was true and I had to wait for some poor chap to access the room and make sure I wasn’t telling untruths. No ‘I hope you enjoyed your stay. Please come again. Etc.’

The rooms was relatively big and very clean. A small family can comfitably fit in. The hotel is close to the Galle road. Food is easily accessible nearby the hotel.

The staff was extremely nice and accommodating.
Me and my family really had a great time at the Ocean edge. The staff was nice and helpful. The location was great and convenient. We ordered food from the hotel a couple of times, the cost was reasonable and the food was good. Some areas that I would recommend the hotel puts more attention to, would be the cleanliness of the bathroom.

Basic hotel by beach on very busy railway & road
Everything is out of order from jagguzi in the swimming pool, bathroom tub & toilet flusher. The panoramic suite (which is the more expensive category) was very noisy as it overlooked the main ocean busy road & railway lines (as the trains was running in both directions every couple of minutes).

海沿いで中心街から少々距離があるが快適なホテル
オーシャンビューの良い部屋で、とても満足です。食事はまあまあでした。 Wifiは弱めでしたが、全般的に弱かったのでやむをえないのかも。。。

City stay
We stayed for 3 nights (the first night to deal with our jet lag!) and the other 2 to look around Colombo - 1 night is enough for this! We also took the train to Kandy which was a great family experience! The hotel is basic but very comfortable and the staff are very accommodating.

Poor Service and Maintenance but Good Location.
Overall maintenance of the room is very poor - cupboards falling off hinges, shower flooding the bathroom, fridge in the room not working, door latch broken,blinds on the windows broken, 2 stove induction plate in the kitchen not working, no kitten utensils for cooking and cups and saucers not adequate. The standard of service was poor - airport pick up booked and confirmed in writing and did not happen ( Hotel manager apologised and compensated with a free airport drop off ), all complaints of the maintenance issues in the room was ignored and not fixed for the duration of my 1 week stay. The quality of towels in the bathroom was poor. Lobby area is tiny, onsite restaurant is basic, breakfast is very average and service is slow and cumbersome at all times.

Disappointing hotel
I was very disappointed, to find that there was no beach or beach front at this hotel. In fact there was a railway track right in front of the hotel, with noisy trains running, day and night. Looking out from the balcony I was above a very noisy road as well, and because of the train and traffic noise, it was not nice to sit out there. The restaurant, served good variety of food, but needs a lot of improvement. The Sri Lankan food was very spicy and near impossible to eat! The indoor swimming pool Is not heated, and was very cold, not nice to use. It is surrounded by ugly buildings and has no sun what's so ever. Having been to other 4 star hotels, I would definitely not rate this hotel a 4 star. More likely a 2/3 star.

Very disappointing and lost $600
I made booking of 2 rooms considering it is a 4 star, it is not even a single star. The reception appeared to be dingy and the entrance to hotel was narrow with a shady atmosphere, so we made a decision on the spot not to stay despite losing around $600, hope there is a way to claim a refund. Message to everyone please don't make the same mistake and avoid booking this hotel.

Only partial view on Studio, Expedia did not provide that information. The hotel is slightly inside a lane (which is fine, since many such hotels have that kind of access). Safety is not an issue.

Smart hotel with good staff
Very nice hotel. Nicely presented, with pleasant staff, especially the pool/gym attendant. Good breakfast with a range of options. Must be new as tuk-tuk drivers do not know where it is.

私の部屋は、ちょうどビーチが見えて、通りも見えて、、、という、とてもついている部屋でした。 部屋は、日本の自分の自宅よりも広い部屋でとても快適でした。 また泊まりたい!と思いました。

While booking this hotel, in.hotel advertised free upgrades of room, free wine bottle and discount on food and beverage. Nothing such at this property. Disappointed with in.hotel completely... Fake promises...

Rekomenderas knappt för övernattning, ovärt!
Det var smutsiga lakan och djur i sängen, det var även massor av smådjur i pentryt. Allmän smutsig känsla. Hela poolområdet var under tak mot nån form av baksida, så ingen solmöjlighet. Hela området är riktigt sunkigt och känns som baksidan av Colombo.

A recommended hotel
I've stayed at this hotel a few times now and I think I'll keep coming back. It's good value for money. It's a very low key place but in a good way. Discreet even. Rooms are nice, some of the views are really good. Great beds! Staff is nice. Indian restaurant on the first floor is maybe a bit boring at first glance (why didn't they put it on the rooftop? There is nothing on the rooftop floor...) but the food is good. Pool area is a bit underwhelming. It should've been on the rooftop one would think, but it's on the first floor as well. All in all, a recommended hotel!

Gute Citylage in Colombo
Das Hotel ist 'leicht in die Jahre' gekommen. Nach dem Ende des 'Bürgerkrieges' haben die Preise in Sri Lanka EXTREM angezogen und ich denke, dass man die Schraube schon überdreht hat. Es kommen immer weniger Deutsche, hört man von allen Seiten...!! In Thailand kann man, bei besserem Komfort und niedrigeren Preisen, ebenfalls Urlaub in dem Tropen machen...!!
