Quel bel établissement !
Quel bel établissement ! Le cadre est tout simplement magique, arbres magnifiques, fleurs, plantes tropicales. Les chalets sont en bois avec terrasse avec tout le confort au milieu de cet environnement, le cadre piscine est très sympa et les petits déjeuners sont tout bonnement exceptionnelles ! Le seul bémol éviter les chambres simples donnant sur l’accueil.

El Mono Feliz and Dana and Luz were terrific for our last of three areas visited in Costa Rica. Staff was friendly and accomodating, breakfasts were yummy and the pool was refreshing after a sweaty day of hiking. The only drawback was that the room my partner and I stayed in was very small. We were squished in our two bedrooms and the bathroom was the smallest I've seen in all my travels. Also they were right next to the dining area and reception area and morning noise was difficult to sleep through.We did get used to it as there were no other rooms available while we were there. There were lots of fun activities within a short drive of the hotel.

From the moment we arrived at this property, we loved it! Our check-in was very efficient and pleasant. Our room was a little on the "cozy" side for space but more than made up by the outside nature waking up in the morning sounds!!!!! The surrounding area was very nicely laid out and beautiful wildlife you could see come and go. The pool was perfect! The breakfast was so delicious!!! We loved Dana!!! She was so helpful, friendly, professional...I could go on. All the staff was nice. Highly recommend this hotel. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

First of all, Dana and the rest of the staff are amazing! My car battery died the day I was leaving and they were more than helpfull, attentive and supportive while the problem was fixed! The hotel is a hidden gem in the heart of the rainforest... I was lucky to find it! Beautiful wooden cabins, all sorrounded by the forest, where you can spot monkeys and birds in their natural habitat, a creek that runs through the property and so quiet it trully is a little paradise!!! Great breakfast too!! I hope to be back soon!!!

We enjoyed our two night stay at Hotel El Mono Feliz. The property is absolutely beautiful with trees, flowers, hummingbirds, other birds, a lovely pool & a sweet yoga shala by the river. Accommodations include rooms & cabins. We were in a small room with a comfortable bed, nice sheets, good towels, including pool or beach towels. Breakfast is included & is delicious! Lisa, the hostess during our stay, was super friendly, helpful & had great suggestions as to where to go/where to eat.

A lovely little place nestled in the wonderful town of Ojochal. Beautiful setting, quiet, surrounded by nature and beautiful birds that keep you company while you have some great breakfast by Claire. She is the awesome hostess who always greets you with a bright smile and is eager to accommodate and help with any questions or needs. We loved our adorable bungalow which had enough space and amenities for my husband and I. The place is magically beautiful, clean, friendly and kind staff, and a lovely owner. We stayed for a week and enjoyed every day! Will definitely go back!

So glad I answered the call!
Wow-y wow-y wow, wow. Um, for me, it was exactly what I wanted, needed, and more. It was meditative, deep nature, and then opportunity for adventure. Claire made it feel quickly like home with unbelievable breakfasts with hummingbirds and strangers who are friends. Do not come here if a power outage would ruin your trip. Do not come here if you expect a big room (you don't at all need it.) But if you hear your heart pulling you, listen. You will be so glad you did. I will never be able to express all that I got out of my time at el mono feliz. I left feeling like everyone working there is someone I can't wait to get back and see soon. Also I love walking so I had no problem being carless. And jeez leweez it's such a warm generous peaceful culture. Do plan to drop any White colonial cultural norms when you arrive because what you'll experience will prove to you how much better life can be. La Pura Vida!

Stunning natural setting/landscaping but not overly "groomed" or artificial looking. Staff is gracious,attentive, and helpful. Fantastic value. Wonderful that we can eat such a delicious breakfast everyday that just happens to be so healthy. Booking my next stay already!

Es la tercera vez que les visito este año y siempre ha sido una grata experiencia con la atención que nos brinda Clare y la buena mano en la cocina de Yorleny. En esta ocasion en ausencia de Clare, nos recibio Sofia, una chica con un trato y don de gente espectacular, por lo que felicito al hotel por la incorporacion de ella a su equipo de trabajo, hizo nuestra estadia muy amena y agradable..

Hotel El Mono Feliz exceeded our expectations. We loved everything about our stay. The cabin was very clean and charming and the grounds were magnificent. Claire provided exceptional service and recommendations and the daily breakfasts were delicious. We also loved the charming village of Ojochal, especially the restaurants. We can’t wait to come back! A Superhost and her name is Claire!
Claire was the best host that we’ve had in our long travels in Costa Rica to date, she even came to pick us up from the bus stop and waited for a long time as our bus had been delayed, she showed us all the eateries during the drive and when we arrived at the hotel, she took the time to give us a glass of cold water, maps and key information. The breakfast options were delicious and I particularly enjoyed the nutritious overnight oats, it’s not something that is readily available in CR so was a wonderful treat. The service she provided was faultless. The grounds were a piece of paradise. We managed to spot some birds that we hadn’t before from our cabin. There was an abundance of birds and butterflies, a peaceful sound of running water from the river and lots of tweeting. Our only regret is that we didn’t spend more time enjoying what Hotel El Mono Feliz had to offer. The room itself was adequate but with lovely touches and very well sealed throughout to stop bugs from getting into the cabin. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone! Thanks all!

The property was A plus all around. The delicious breakfast each morning, the convenient location, the incredible garden, the beautiful pool, our lovely and pristine cabin, the up close birds and monkeys, but what really stood out was the kindness of the two wonderful managers, Mike and Diana. They made our last two days in CR the two best days of our trip. In a country of beautiful people, these two really stood out!

A lovely surprise.
A simple but lovely hotel in beautiful grounds. We liked it so much we extended our stay. Breakfast is different every day and is taken with views of the bird table where fruit has been placed. You will see so many different types it’s mesmerising. From our window we saw a large iguana in the tree every day. There is a viewing platform in the forest with seating where you can sit quietly to watch wildlife. There are many restaurants nearby so it was a good stay. The owners are helpful and friendly and are happy to help with anything. It’s a little out of the way but we loved that aspect.We can’t recommend it highly enough.

We booked in for 5 nights and discovered a marvellous place to stay. Mike and Diana were welcoming and hospitable throughout. They shared their knowledge of the area which enhanced our travel experience. The cabin was very comfortable and the garden setting was beautiful as well as peaceful. We looked forward to breakfast every day. Not only was it delicious but we were always entertained by a variety of birds.

Beautiful spot with very friendly staff and great breakfast. Stayed in the secluded jungle bungalow which was a real treat, surrounded by lush vegetation and plenty of birds. Close to many good restaurants.

Highly recommend to stay here! We were warmly welcomed by Mikey at their great place! In middle of nature, fabulous property with blooming fruit trees and many beautiful birds. The breakfast the chef and Diana were making was finger licking good!

El terreno es muy agradable, al igual que el servicio y trato de los gerentes. El desayuno sabroso y saludable. En cuanto a la habitación, atención de asegurarse la que les corresponde, pues la nuestra era muy pequeña (cama matrimonial + 30 cm de espacio). Pues no corresponde con respecto al precio y a las otras opciones en el establecimiento. Baños correctos.

Beautiful Gem
We really enjoyed our two-night stay at el Mono Feliz. Our hosts, Rhonda and Dave (caring for the hotel while the owners are away), were very friendly and accommodating. What we really liked were the listings of local activities and restaurants that were provided in a very quick easy-to-read format. Rhonda didn't hesitate to make restaurant reservations for both nights we were there. We enjoyed both restaurants - The Bamboo Room and Helonica. Lalo Tours is a short walk away from the hotel and my partner and I went on a horseback ride to to Ojochal Waterfall with our tour guide, Ricardo. He was a terrific guide and the horses we rode were well cared for and calm. The gardens at el Mono Feliz are beautiful and the hummingbird feeders very busy. Breakfast was tasty. An enjoyable stay.

Great place away from the “tourist “ areas. Comfortable and the managers made us feel like we were at home. Loved watching the hummingbirds in the morning while we ate the phenomenal banana strawberry French toast. The fireflies at dusk were a special treat.

CABANA NA FLORESTA
O hotel está localizado literalmente dentro da floresta, há um rio que corre nos fundos do terreno e para acessar a nossa cabana era necessário passar por uma ponte onde havia um crocodilo. O lugar é fantástico, a cabana é linda, bem decorada e muito completa. Entretanto, as janelas poderiam ser maiores a fim de que pudéssemos apreciar a vista e a sensação de integração com a natureza seria maior. O café da manhã é muto bom e o anfitrião ainda dá dicas de passeios e restaurantes. A minha única decepção foi o fato dos anfitriões não falarem espanhol, língua oficial da Costa Rica. Acho que isso tirou um pouco da espontaneidade da hospedagem, pois o charme de visitar este lindo país é justamente a integração com o povo local e o idioma sem dúvida é fator fundamental para isso. Além do que é uma língua muito linda de ser ouvida com uma sonoridade muito agradável. Os anfitriões são muito educados e a funcionária Sofia foi muita atenciosa conosco, falando sempre em espanhol.

Muchas gracias por tu maravilloso comentario! Estamos muy contentos de que haya disfrutado su estadía ... los bungalows ... los ríos ... nuestro caimán :-) y el desayuno y mucho más. Pasaremos tus amables palabras a Sofía. Y, estamos de acuerdo, el español es un lenguaje increíble y hermoso. Algunos miembros de nuestro personal hablan bien, otros no, pero todos estamos trabajando en ello. Gracias de nuevo por permanecer con nosotros, y por ser maravilloso. Pura Vida!
