Old Charm and Walkable
I read the description and reviews thoroughly so I wasn’t surprised by anything. The interstate on-ramp right outside the window isn’t ideal but we knew about it in advance and brought earplugs/sound machines. The only thing we couldn’t have planned for was the construction of the house right next door. They started working at 7 am each day which was noisy. It’s obviously a temporary issue no one can do anything about, but be aware. The house had great charm, the location was awesome - we walked almost everywhere (down king street to the harbor and market was a little over 1.5 miles), but for 2 women traveling we felt safe and had a great time! Beds were comfy. They had coffee and filters for us which was nice. And they don’t make you clean the whole house at checkout. Ha!

Overall Decent
This was a decent place to stay. It was at the far end of King Street which means lots of walking. Our biggest complaints were 1) they don’t provide much toilet paper and 2) the road noise at night is pretty bad. The highway is VERY close and there is lots of activity late into the night. None of us slept well.

Weekend visit with friends
Perfect for a party of four for a long weekend. Most of the time we kept our car in the driveway and walked into the heart of Charleston. Many breakfast choices within a few blocks. Great having two bathrooms and loved the hardwood flooring without. Enjoyed the complimentary bottle of wine upon arrival!

Not a comfortable place
There is an expressway immediately behind the house. Noisy The bed is not comfortable. There was constant, late night noise from the apartment next door. The master bedroom door latch does not work. The hot water in the guest bathroom runs at a trickle. It is difficult to close and lock the front door.

We're sorry you didn't enjoy the home. The listing does clearly state that there is a highway nearby and that light sleepers may prefer a different location. We have tested the noise levels many times and they are not loud. We do ask guests to read the listing and all notes thoroughly before booking and before arrival to avoid disappointment. As for noise from next door, we encourage our guests to reach out by text so we can follow up and make sure everyone is being respectful. We note that you didn't raise any issues with us at all during your stay so we are disappointed to receive a 2 star review. The home gets many 5 stars from our guests looking for an affordable stay in Downtown Charleston.

Disappointed in Charleston
There were three adults who stayed three nights in this unit. Here are the pros and cons: Pros - The unit has two parking spots dedicated to the unit. - The unit is two levels with the (2) bedrooms/bathrooms upstairs - There was detergent pods/softener sheets with washer/dryer to use. - One section of the neighborhood walking toward King Street appears safer than walking the opposite direction. Cons: - Unit is outdated and has a stale odor upon entering. -Neighborhood is very noisy at night. -The unit backs up to the interstate and you can hear the cars/trucks at night. -The itrip company that manages the unit only supplies first round of paper products. We ran out of toilet paper on our third day and were told they would not restock. - The front door was very challenging to open and lock with the deadbolt. The owners left a bottle of red wine and cookies upon our arrival; this was a nice gesture. However, I would not stay in this unit again.

we're sorry you didn't have a great stay. We do note the noise from the nearby road in the listing. We also advise all guests to read the listing and all emails sent so that you are not surprised. As other guests have noted the location is quite safe. The home was throughly cleaned prior to your arrival and we could detect no odor. We do supply the first round of paper products which is usually more than enough for a 4 night stay.

Great quick weekend stay
What a cute place! The grass backyard is perfect for small dogs. The beds are super comfy. The open downstairs area lets everyone spread out. The only negative (and it wasn’t a big deal for me at all) was the noise level from the cars on the highway at night. It can get loud. We all really enjoyed our stay! Thank you!

It was fine!
Pros: location was great. It was affordable. Nice to have 2 free parking spots! Cons: had big problems with the WiFi. Hosts tried to fix remotely. Didn’t work-went a day and a half with no WiFi. Somehow got locked out of house-code wouldn’t work. Sent new codes but they wouldn’t work. Had to wait 20 mins for host to come to repair. Finally got WiFi but NO FOOTBALL. No local channels on TV. All problems got fixed but was a hassle.

Great Stay!
The Sweet Spacious Suite was the perfect set-up for my husband and I and another couple on a weekend trip to Charleston! Two big bedrooms, each with our own bathroom. Walking distance to fantastic local breakfast spots and shopping on North Kong Street.

Great spot!
Stayed for 4 nights with my wife and mother. The location is brilliant, 10 min walk from the bars and restaurants on King Street. The living area is very spacious and the bedrooms with en suite bathrooms are great. The hosts were very responsive and gave us the options to check in early and check out late. Would definitely stay there again!

Perfect for what we needed
We needed a home base to move our daughter into college. This was a great location to spread out our local purchases and launder new bedding. Walkable to campus and all the amazing restaurants in the King St. area.

Great space
The apartment is great space, especially the large living area — great for hanging around. The beds were very comfy and the bedrooms were spacious enough, each with its own bathroom. The location is also really good — very close to King street and lots of dining and attractions. The rental also comes with off street parking, which is very handy. On the downside, the bathrooms could use a refresh. We also had a couple of issues with things being broken — the wifi was spotty, the dishwasher was broken, and the door lock malfunctioned and locked us out. However, they were very responsive — helping us to reset the wifi router and remotely resetting the door lock, and sending someone right over in person when the lock still didn’t function.

House on the edge of city
Received door code and a text when we could check in. There was a car parked in the driveway when we arrived. Owners had it moved within the hour, but we had to unpack our car from across the street. This house location is better suited for people looking to walk down King street, we drove mostly and parked in the garages downtown by the market. The freeway ramp is located directly behind the house so its very loud with the thin windows. There is no counter space in the bathroom it was hard to get ready since there's no where to set down your blow dryer or straightener or even a brush, and the walls have peeling paint. Windows in the back bedroom need black out drapes or blinds its very bright early in the morning. Bottle of red wine and cookies left were a nice touch (we drink white wine). Only 1 towel per person for the whole stay. We had to leave our vacation a day early when my son was called back to base, owners just said ok thanks. Door was hard to open and close it needs a handle on the inside.Thought the fees were excessive, but the house was clean and having a parking spot was great, just needs a fresh coat of paint on the walls.

Disappointed in stay - NEVER AGAIN!
This girls weekend with my mom and daughter was not the best due to this VRBO stay. The lack of responsiveness by the on call team to a safety concern with the carbon monoxide detector and the general “run down” appearance of the unit was disappointing. I sent an internal email to the company Itrip Vacations Charleston Beaches 4 days ago with a full list of specific issues (character limit here) but no response other than they were reviewing. In general, the house did not “look like” it did on the VRBO website. It was very evident that the website had professionally staged pictures. The entrance to this unit was at the back of the property and this porch and door are not even shown on the VRBO website. It only shows the front unit. The area in the back around the entrance to our unit was very unkept- (yard grass was about 8-10” high, weeds coming through stairs) as you climbed up to unit. Patio furniture table stained and just run down. Additionally, the general neighborhood was a bit “sketchy”. On the last night, we contacted the "after hours" number 3 times about the carbon monoxide detector issue and got no response, even though I was told that they would call. We ended up leaving and getting a hotel for the last night. With an 80 year old mother and a pregnant 30 year old daughter, safety was my biggest concern. Very disappointing! I have never had a VRBO issue like this ever!

We're sorry you didn't enjoy your stay. You contacted our after hours line about a malfunctioning CO alarm at 10pm. We responded to you by text and advised you to contact 911 if you felt this was an emergency or to remove the unit if it was a battery issue. You acknowledged the text and you stated it was a battery issue as yo had looked it up. You never contacted 911 but remained in the unit for several hours before deciding to leave. As noted in our follow up to your review emails and texts the correct procedures were followed by our team. if you truly felt unsafe despite the alarm only beeping intermittently and there being a second CO monitor in the home then the correct procedure would be to call 911, especially if safety was your concern. Which we advised you to do several times.

Charleston Girl Trip
This unit was very clean and the location was great. Walking distance to all the shops and restaurants. The unit was a little hard to find…we didn’t realize it was in the back of another unit but we messaged for assistance and was quickly helped. The road noise was a little disturbing at night but we just turned on the sound machine on our phones and it was much better. Check in and check out was easy. The Charleston area was very nice and we had a great time.

The location is undesirable. It’s next to a major highway and you hear the cars and trucks night and day. Of course that can’t be changed, but it wasn’t mentioned. The the porch and interior need some decent furniture and a fresh coat of paint. At least it was clean.

Please re-read the listing. We do clearly state that "We are close to the crosstown parkway which may impact light sleepers but our db readings show it isn't loud enough to be a disturbance." and further that we provide a white noise machine to assist you in sleeping. You can avoid disappointment in future by making sure you read the listing and all reviews. As with any urban setting you are going to get urban noise. The plus side is that you are close enough to walk to most of the downtown attractions.

Just what we needed for a group of four in town for a golf trip. Easy walk to everything downtown has to offer. Convenient bathrooms attached to the rooms. Patio space for relaxing and playing cards. Island Provisions is a great coffee/breakfast spot just down the road!

Nice place & as described
The place was clean and comfortable for 2 couples. The TV was small, & we weren’t able to hook up our subscription services to watch for some reason. We were busy exploring, so it wasn’t a deal breaker, just nice to relax after a long day by watching TV. The WI-FI wouldn’t connect or was very slow for everyone’s iPhone’s, but again, didn’t ruin our stay, just something to be aware of. We had to drive & pay to park as it is a ways from the Battery & Rainbow Row. But we walked King Street and felt safe even after a later meal. We would stay here again- didn’t have any issues and the hosts seemed very nice for the minimal interaction we had via text!! Happy Exploring this beautiful city!

We enjoyed our time in Spacious Suites. The layout was perfect for 2 couples. It was clean, accurately depicted and close to the Historic section of town. They have added blinds and curtains to most of the windows. As others have said, you can hear the freeway traffic, but it did not disrupt our sleep.

House was perfectly as advertised. Plenty of off road parking. Very clean, welcoming and well equipped. Proximity to town and main route out of town (which meant you could hear the traffic at night but was not a problem for us after the first night, especially with the sleep machine provided) it was super easy to explore not only Charleston but surrounding areas as well. Close to shuttle/bus stop and very walkable to a lot of shops/restaurants. While we didnt need to reach out at all, host was very responsive. We had a great visit and would definitely stay here again.

A lot of potential with some repair and paint
Sweet Spacious Suites has the potential to be a nice place to stay. The location is good with places to eat close by and in less than a mile, you can easily walk into Historic Charleston where there are many shops and restaurants. We also chose it because it was dog friendly, and it had a small yard for dogs. We liked that there were full sized appliances in the kitchen including a washer and dryer. The Wi-Fi was easy to access and with good connection. The communication with the hosts before and throughout our stay was very helpful, which we appreciated along with the welcome gift of wine and cookies. It was clean and there was also plenty of room for us; four adults. Unfortunately, I must be honest for future guests and say that this house is outdated and does need a lot of work. The front door is very loud and difficult to open and close, as there is no door knob inside. You must grab the dead bolt with your fingers to get the door open. Paint is peeling off the walls so new paint would make it nice. I agree with another guest review in that in the bathroom, there is nowhere to place or hang a toiletry bag so wall shelves or over the commode shelves would be helpful. When cooking is done on the other half of the house, the food aroma does consume this house. I accidentally overlooked the fact that the small yard is a “shared yard” so was startled when taking my dog out at night to find someone out there so realize someone that may happen. Overall, I feel it worked out for us but for the rental cost we were charged and all of the fees added on, was excessive for this particular house. Once it is updated and repaired, it would be a nice place to stay.

Great Stay!
Great location! Able to easily walk to great restaurants and the market. Could use a little updating and be prepared for the highway noise. But, it is clean, cozy and quaint. When we asked for extra towels they were right on it and even provided info on local activities. Good communication with the rental manager and reasonable price. Good times were had!

Cute Lil’ Place
Great location for those that don’t want to pay to stay in downtown Charleston, but you will want to rent a car or ride-share. Unit is clean and functional. Owners are responsive and helpful. Bring earplugs though, as night noise can be a bit much if unprepared. Neighborhood has some great offerings: check out The Daily and Barsa Tapas!

Wonderful location at a good price.
We spent nearly a week in Charleston, and this property was a nice home base for our family of four.. It was slightly more affordable than some of the other short-term rentals available in the area, but it would have been more appealing even if the price had not been taken into account, because many which were available were so "generic" (painted white, identical furniture, etc) that they seemed to be staged by the same company. The unit was very clean, though we were a bit confused when we first arrived because there were several children's toys scattered across the back yard and driveway. We believe these are related to the tenant in the front part of the building (who didn't seem to be there the entire time we stayed). The inside was very well organized however. The one negative related to the unit is that it only one house away from the highway - something we were already aware of from prior reviews. However, road noise was fairly limited at night, and didn't interrupt our sleep. Still, it was a great unit at a good price, only blocks away from some of the major attractions in Charleston. We would stay again.

Enjoyed our stay
We really enjoyed our time here. We were able to get in two hours early which I really appreciated because it was very hot that day. The place is clean, comfortable, and plenty of room for the three of us. The beds are very comfortable. It's a 7 minute walk from restaurants and bars on King St and 15 minutes from the visitor center on Meeting St where the tours go out of. Although it wasn't centralized, it was a $9 Lyft ride from all the fun stuff to do or a mile long walk. The beach is about 20 minutes away.

Great Charleston week!
We had a wonderful week. I brought my 80-year-old mother and another friend. The location was great for us- and I’m sure allowed us to notice neighborhoods off of the beaten track with cute little restaurants on the corners. Bathrooms are on the second floor so if you have trouble with stairs keep this in mind. I had to keep a close eye on my mother but we expected that going in to this stay. We would stay here again! I gave fewer stars for cleanliness because there were some details that had been missed by the cleaning crew- but I’m sure those details will be corrected in the future because of our communication with the owners. Thank you!

Perfect proximity!
The house is super close to all the charm Charleston has to offer!! Neighborhood eateries were quaint and easy to access. You are a short walk to free bus route which made it easy to come back mid day to drop off bags from shopping and to freshen up for dinner. We felt totally safe walking the city and neighborhood after dark. It was an amazing 5 days!

Great weekend stay!
We had a wonderful stay here! It was a long weekend girls trip. We had four adults and very much enjoyed our time. The location to upper King St was perfect, just a short walk and we enjoyed many local restaurants/coffee shops nearby. It is close to the road which we knew from other reviews so we brought earbuds or headphones and it was fine plus there is already a noise machine in the one room. Check in was easy and the place was very clean, would definitely recommend!

Charleston getaway
My husband and I and our 2 labs enjoyed our stay in Charleston. Although the home is older, it is clean and is in a great location. We walked multiple times from the home down King Street all the way to the city market and back (it is a bit of a walk but there are side walks the entire way). We decided to take a petty cab one night due to impending rain but felt perfectly safe walking back the other evenings. They have basic kitchen supplies, so we did make a couple meals there but there are also some great restaurants close by. Finally there is some road noise from the highway but nothing that was bothersome.

Great Location, Exactly As Advertised
Stayed three nights here and it was great. The unit is walking distance to the bars/restaurants on King Street, but far enough away where you can sleep peacefully at night. Everything about the place was as advertised and the check in/check out process was quick and painless. Would definitely stay again.
