We had a wonderful stay at the cottage, really enjoyed walking into the air conditioned living room, rooms and bathrooms were clean and neat, beds were comfortable. Would note that the bedroom on the right needs curtains because there are lights on outside the building that you cant control and they were shining bright all night long, there are curtains in the other room so please add these in for future guests in the 2nd bedroom.
Perfect location. Walked everywhere except twice to the pickleball courts. Lovely place. Spotless. Only concern for us, because we are in our 70's, was stairs & bathrooms were upstairs. We would stay again. Extra bonus was the awesome entrance & backyard!
We were in town for parents' weekend and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. You can walk everywhere! The beds were amazing, the bathrooms greatâsmall but perfect, and each room had its own bath. The living room was a great size, the kitchen had everything we needed, and the little back yard was perfect for an evening glass of wine. This is a wonderful home, and we will be sure to stay here again.
We loved our stay at Southard Cottage for a quick family trip to Charleston. The location was perfect for walking to fun neighborhood spots and Stay Duvet included thoughtful touches to my our visit great.
Property was clean. Beds were comfortable. It was nice having two outdoor spaces - small porch near the front door and a seating area outside the back door. The house could use some fresh paint. The bathroom sinks (small) did not drain well.We had a difficult time with the TV since an account had been set up by a previous occupant. We figured out with some time spent doing so.Stay Duvet was very helpful with parking passes and answering any question that we had during our stay. There are some great restaurants in the area.
Love this area of Charleston - walkable to tons of great restaurants and shops. The property was perfect for my group of 3 with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It had everything we needed!
Cozy cottage in a great location. Historic Charleston style property so you really get the feel of history. Neighborhood is full of good restaurantsâŠa foodies delight. Short walk to King Street. Didnât really need to use our car except on a couple of occasions
We had a great stay. The house is in a great location, walkable to so many things. The shower got hot fast and the king bed was comfortable (we didn't use the second bed). Everything worked in the house and it was charming. We did not hear noise from King Street. The only negative was the parking. I booked this place because it had parking, but a few days before we were told we had to park on the street because of construction. We were given parking passes. Our last night we could not find a space for 45 minutes so that was a bit frustrating. So if parking is important you should check on this.
The property was great, but construction was going on next door. The noise of the heavy machinery & the vibrations shook the house We also had repeated noise from the smoke detectors which was eventually fixed by the company.
The property was pretty much as described, except for the parking. The listing had offstreet parking included however, when we arrived, we found it that was no longer the case. Parking passes for the street were delivered to us before we arrived, and that solution worked out fairly well. We enjoyed the amenities of the property, including a very well stocked kitchen. At a block and a half from King Street, we found the location to be very good. Mostly quiet at night. The host was very quick to respond.
The listing is accurate and would have been a nice stay, but we had a series of bad luck. First, the instructions for finding the house and its parking were extremely confusing and took us to wrong locations. We drove around in circles for over an hour trying to find the house. Once we found it, there were tree servicemen cutting down trees on the property. They said we werenât allowed to park at the house and told us the homeowner said to park at the unit across the way. I messaged the concierge to verify and they said that wasnât allowed and that I would have to find a spot on the street rather than parking on the property. I booked this house specifically for the on-site parking, so this was highly disappointing. The tree service was there for the duration of our stay. They started work at 7am. I wasnât able to park at the house, they woke us up, and drug tree branches across our porch. They even accidentally cut down our WiFi cord. The concierge sent Xfinity to fix the WiFi. No one notified us of the Xfinity servicemanâs arrival. He did not knock and just barged in. This was very frightening to us. After all the trees were cut down, all the bugs came into the house. The house was full of caterpillars. They were on the walls, floors, doors, and furniture. We also had cockroaches, crickets, and small flying bugs in the shower. We had to leave a day early because the bugs were too much for us. Thankfully, we did receive a refund for the night we didnât spend.
Quiet location and worked well for us. Showers were great, but the rest of the bathroom, including the sink, are tiny FYI.
Walked everywhere. Highly recommend carriage ride to see the general area. Mesu was a really good restaurant with such unexpected cuisine.
The property managers were informative, helpful, easy to contact and communicate with.
The property was clean and comfortable.
The beds were very comfortable.
We had an issue with some water, but the property managers were quick to respond.
Decent property that fit our needs. Family of four stayed here for four nights. Kitchen provided the essentials for breakfast and sometimes lunch while we ventured out for dinner. Having parking available was very nice. We could occasionally hear people in the pool next door but for a house in an urban area found it to be quiet enough. Would recommend a stay here.
Property was clean and nicely appointed. Plenty of towels. Bathrooms were a bit cramped and bathroom sinks were incredibly small. (I had to press my head against the mirror in order not to slop toothpaste and water everywhere when brushing my teeth!)
I understand why they are small, as it seems the bathrooms were installed after the house was built and this was a very old apartment.
A couple of suggestions: My sister and brother-in-law were both struggling with allergies and used up the toilet paper quickly blowing their noses. Might provide a bit more toilet paper, or offer some kleenex in the bedrooms in order that guests don't run out.
Also, the rug in the living room is made of some sort of jute type material that is very painful to walk on in bare or stocking feet. Maybe put a different low nap rug in the living room.
A throw was provided on the couch. Perhaps if you could offer 1 or 2 more throws there, that would make things a bit more comfortable. The AC blows right onto the extended part of the couch and we found that we had to keep swapping the one throw back and forth to stay comfortable!
It would be great if there was a half bathroom on the ground floor. Again I realize that space is tight...maybe a small addition could be put where the door in the kitchen leads out to the front porch.
Finally, I'm an insurance adjuster so I'm extra sensitive to noticing hazards, but, you might want to consider putting a railing up on the front porch to prevent falls
Property was nice and updated and had everything we needed. We loved the outdoor seating area especially at night. Great location to walk Charleston. Master bath tiny but updated. We enjoyed our stay.
