Welcome to Saint Philip Square, an award-winning collection of historic homes spanning nearly one city block in downtown Charleston. The John Bulow House at 174 A St Philip St Unit 4 is a second floor 2-BD 2-BA gem with modern comfort and Charleston’s rich history. Just one block from King St; Recognized with 5 Carolopolis Awards and the SC Governor’s Award for Historic Restoration, this retreat offers a premier location perfect for families or groups seeking an authentic Charleston experience.

*This unit has a second floor spiral entrance: it could be a problem for anyone with mobility issues*
Bedroom 1 – King bed, spacious closet, computer/dressing table, and tasteful decor.
Bedroom 2 – King bed, ensuite bath with a rain shower, side tables with lamps, writing desk.
Living Room – Stylish sofa sleeper, swivel chairs, coffee table, bar, shiplap walls, elegant lighting.

Bathroom 1: Rain shower, handheld shower, marble and tile floors.
Bathroom 2: Stylish glass enclosed shower, tile floors.

Kitchen – Fully stocked with modern appliances, Keurig pod/pot coffee machine, and pantry storage.
Dining Area – Oval table with four upholstered chairs, seamlessly connecting to the kitchen and living room.

Spiral Staircase Entry – Leads to the second-floor piazza with cozy outdoor seating. Note: The spiral entrance may not be suitable for guests with mobility issues. An electronic hoist is available to lift suitcases and bags to the second floor.

- Landscaped parking for 1 vehicle.

This is not a typical short-term rental; it is not a renovated dependency or a newly constructed unit in an old neighborhood, nor is it situated on a tiny lot in a questionable or remote area. The old hardwood floors, tall ceilings, original moldings, plasterwork, windows, and doors exude a special warmth, character, and charm that is very difficult to achieve in new construction. The exterior copper roof and guttering provide additional warmth and character. It's the real deal!

- Access to The Wonderer, an exclusive adult-only resort downtown Charleston 2.6 miles away from Saint Philip Square (guests 25+ only; no one under 21 permitted at the pool).

- Guests must follow trash disposal instructions provided by the host.
- Please return all items and furniture to their original locations.

Great location and very comfortable place

 walking distance to endless shops, restaurants, and dessert places. The hosts were very attentive both with communication and their attention to details within the property. Everything was clean and comfortable at this property. Would definitely stay again.

Excellent Stay

In town for a funeral with sister; the 2/2 accommodated our needs well. Everything (shops, restaurants, etc.) within walking distance. By far, the nicest property I've used in Charleston: plenty of room, comfortable bed and furnished coffee (pod and carafe machine). Although not used, all kitchen essentials present. Wish we had time to unwind in the courtyard. Not an issue for us but be aware of the spiral staircase to the door. Will definitely return - thank you Jamie!

So well appointed and in a very great location

The property is so well appointed - they literally have thought of everything -which I really appreciate!!! The spriral staircase to this unit is fine - but if you have mobility issues or plan on drinking - too much - this could be dangerous! We loved it!

Charleston Stay

The property was very nice and a perfect place to stay for our girls trip. There were some issues with the hot water in the original apartment we had booked, and Jamie was extremely communicative and helpful and getting us moved to a different apartment while she had plumbers working on our original booking. Thanks to her it had little impact on our trip.

The description of the condo did not state we would need to go up a spiral staircase. We carried heavy suitcases up. We were not told there was a lift, which we did mot see until the last day and used to get heavy suitcases down. The lodging itself was very clean, convenient to walking, comfortable beds and great location.

A lovely Christmas

Having a full size dining table for 4 and very comfortable chairs was key for our family get together. The king beds were super comfortable and having 2 full bathrooms was also one of the necessities for our crew. One en suite is tiny size, but workable. The courtyards are dreamy, i would stay again.

Nice apartment in good location

Amazing condo in historical Charleston

Beautiful condo right in the middle of Charleston - I did not want to leave. The exterior spaces are charming with fountains and lovely sitting areas. Everything inside has been remodeled and is upscale. The rental is well stocked with everything you need - washer dryer are the best!! Management company is so responsive and helpful. I will be back!
