No shelving in the bathroom and nowhere to put clothes etc in the bedroom. The place was clean and smelt fresh

A great hotel in a good location close to the sea with an excellent beer garden backing onto the canal. Fantastic food let down by a slow service between courses. The room was clean and comfortable although the extractor fan for the kitchen was directly outside the windows. Easy access for those who needed to leave early with a key dropbox and friendly efficient staff on reception and behind the bar. Bus stop outside to take you to Lancaster, Morecambe or pther destinations. Good walks along the canal in both directions.

One night stay
An excellent one night stay at a very reasonable price. A little warmer than ideal during the night. But otherwise a lovely, relaxing stay. Staff are lovely. We chose to eat and drink at the hotel, both for evening meal and breakfast. All food and drink was of excellent quality. A really good eating place, not a pub.

I have to what a lovely hotel, the food in the bar is outstanding and will definitely be back! The rooms are lovely and clean and very spacious.

Arrived after a long work shift, was seen to quickly and politely. Once I had showered I went down for dinner which was served promptly and was delicious, I then went to bed and leapt without disturbance, really nice place

Lovely stay
We booked 2 double rooms for 2 nights for our son's graduation and were very happy with the rooms and facilities. The 'power' shower was a particularly pleasant surprise. The staff were friendly and helpful and although we didn't eat there, it was always busy so clearly very popular amongst the locals. There is also a lovely beer garden which we availed ourselves of and enjoyed a bottle of wine. We would definitely recommend The Royal Hotel.

Great place to stay
Great to stay and really convenient for getting in and out of Lancaster. Really friendly staff and parking just across the road and really safe. Great full English breakfast by the way. Great for the price and would highly recommend.

HEATING ISSUES AND INCORRECT CHECK OUT TIME
The room was quite good with a comfortable bed. On arrival the heating was not on, so we asked the manager to sort it out. He got the heating in the room and the bathroom on, but it only stayed on until about 10pm. After that it never came on again and we were very cold in the morning. The worst thing was that we apparently needed to be out of the room at 10am. OK if you know about it but arrangements were in disarray when we were down at breakfast, 10.15 and told we had to be out. We booked on Hotels.com, which stated check out was 11.00.am and we organised on that basis. Expedia and Agoda also show 11.00am check out The staff insisted it was 10.00am. Really annoying and disruptive. Our son had another room and wanted a lie in, but was turfed out at 10.00am The hotel has a bar and restaurant. The food and service on the evening were excellent and I would have given the place a higher rating if it wasn't for the problems above. They need to get the times changed on booking sites to avoid this problem. Breakfast is served from 9am, which may be a problem for some.

Attentive staff and friendly
The room was clean and acceptable. The staff throughout were attentive, friendly and helpful. Food was excellent. Be aware on a busy road so if you are a light sleeper the front facing rooms can be a little noisy. Nothing can be done about this though

The rooms were good for an overnight stay with ensuite bathrooms. There was plenty of free parking across the road. The pub was very well furnished, and the food was excellent. Overall it was a lovely overnight stay.

Perfect location for my needs, reasonable standard
Quick easy check-in at the bar, small single room comfortable bed fully functional shower, large lovely old stained glass window across one entire wall, frosted glass so you can't see out but it overlooked an internal shaft with pipes etc so you would not have any view if the window was clear. You can only see half the TV screen from the bed, you have to sit at the foot of the bed to watch TV fully, slightly irritating but not a major issue for me. Tea and coffee provided, a couple of biscuits would have been appreciated.

We found our stay to be excellent, the room to be very clean and good food. We like to open the window but found the kitchen extractor fans very noisy mounted on the flat roof outside our bed room. We would stay at the Royal Hotel again

Diving trip to Capenwray
Diving trip at Capenwray. Needed an earlier breakfast than 08:30 though -half an hour earlier would have helped. Other than that everything was spot on
