Beautiful space steps from the beach
Lovely property clean and very close to a nice beach you can walk to. You definitely need a car for this area and if you have one it’s great. I did not, so the location was very difficult to get to and from via Uber or taxi because it’s in a pretty remote area including 4km of dirt road. Other than that the place was awesome! I had a bit of trouble when I first got there not realizing there were two buildings and which one was the correct building and unit, but the property manager was responsive and helpful when I reached out. Overall great stay!

We are sorry about the dirt road of which there are many in Costa Rica. Many times the best kept secrets are located in the remote unspoiled areas of Costa Rica. If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing, laid back area, then Casa del Gecko could be your place. A car is best in Costa Rica as it allows you to explore the wonderful places in the area.

Perfect spot!
We loved our stay in this unit. It was exactly as described, surrounded by wildlife, featured a perfect ocean view, and allowed us to enjoy quiet evenings after exploring Conchal Beach, Playa Flamingo, and Playa Grande during the days. We even did a day-trip to Nosara! Thank you for having us!

Affordable Paradise!
Our best stay during our 16 day visit to Costa Rica! Comfortable, well-appointed condo with a serene balcony view of Playa Conchal. We went to 3 different beaches in the immediate area and enjoyed them all. We had most of our meals at the on-site restaurant. This condo is located in a quiet area away from the hub-bub of the Tamarindo area.

Quiet and relaxing
This condo had everything we needed and more. The owners were a delight to deal with providing very detailed package information as did the property manager. We were able to get a car rental referral name from the condo owner as well which was also exceptional service. We had a nice stay at Jerry and Sue’s place. There are some nice beaches within a very short driving distance and they had tons of great recommendations for places to visit and eat nearby. Very nice views from the balcony as well!

Hosts are great! Property is well stocked and makes things easy to cook at the place. The dishwashing machine wasn’t working while we were there and the water had an issue so we had to drink from bottles but the hosts were super nice and provided us with loads of drinking water bottles. The condo was beautiful with amazing views. The property manager was easy to contact when needed. The staff on the grounds are beyond kind, especially at the on-site restaurant (the truly became friends). The beaches are super close and accessible. It was the perfect vacation.

Good Condo! There were a few quirky things. Wifi was spotty! If you want to watch a movie via netflix it is painfully slow. We walked to 2 of the beaches. Concahl was about a 10-15 min walk on the very busy dirt road. Pirates bay beach was a bit further, 40ish min walk down a very busy dirt road

First complaint that we have ever had about the internet speed. Perhaps it was a local issue at that time. As for the beach access roads being busy, this is quite normal during Christmas and New Years as many people including the locals head for the beaches on holiday. Excluding holidays, the beaches and roads are much less crowded and sometimes deserted at times. Thank you for the positive review.

Little Gecko, big value
They say good things are hard to find, and in this case it’s true. The road to Casa Del Gecko is a bit of the long and winding road type and the first indication of an entrance to Condor Heights is comically a non-working entrance that has no road behind the grand gate and huge sign. After finding the second and real entrance around the corner, you are led onto the grounds and up a rather harrowing path up the hill to the unit’s parking lot. Once there, the building and unit is quite nice and substantially built. The unit was ideal for our family of four with the two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The furnishings were quality pieces and all were very tasteful. Howler monkeys off in the distance can wake you in the morning and invite you to partake of the amazing views off the balcony of the master bedroom or the living room. Views from the on-site restaurant and pool also beckon as they entice you to explore the beaches in the not too distant area below. Even the fully equipped kitchen has a great view in the other direction while preparing or cleaning up after meals. There is plenty of seating between the round dining table (4), the kitchen counter (3), the two couches (5), the settee (3) and the two small patio tables with chairs (6). All in all, we had a great time here and the unit served all of our needs spectacularly. It was spotless as we arrived and the AC worked flawlessly. Your only challenge might be to find the current very tiny resident Gecko that wanders around the unit. He’s cute.

Get away from the crowds
Nice condo in an out of the way location, but with great access to fantastic beaches. Jerry and Sue are excellent hosts- full of information and very helpful. I’m crying as I write this because we’re headed back to the states to sub-zero weather, and we have enjoyed nothing but sunny days in the mid-90s here. Oh well, back to reality.

Wonderful stay!
This is a very comfortable well- appointed condo with full kitchen & cookware, washer-dryer & dishwasher. The view is lovely and it’s walking distance to gorgeous Playa Conchal. and within fairly short driving distance to other beaches. The unpaved 3-mile road to the property is a bit of a slog, but we got used to it. Definitely better with an ATV. The restaurant and beach recommendations Jerry & Sue gave us were right on the money and so very helpful, as was their property manager. We’d definitely stay here again.

I believe you wanted to say SUV instead of ATV. The unpaved road was recently repaired and is in easy passable condition any type of vehicle including a standard 2 wheel drive sedan. The rainy season is hard on the unpaved roads and it sometimes takes a little time for proper repairs to be made.

Great service!
The first morning I caused an expensive problem in the kitchen. The staff had it miraculously fixed within 24 hours! The owners and manager made sure we did not worry and urged us to continue on with our vacation. Absolutely incredible response. We are so grateful. The condo is super lovely. Very comfortable beds and pillows. Couches are great for hanging around and reading. Supplied with plenty of good towels. Kitchen well stocked. It was really hot during our stay and the AC worked perfectly and kept us cool. Washer and dryer is very convenient! We loved hanging at the pool. The bar and restaurant staff were a lot fun. The food we ate for lunch was very tasty. The beaches nearby were fun to explore. We enjoyed most dinners in Tamarindo. The gelato at ENJOY in Hauacas is not to be missed!! We had a very memorable 4 nights at this condo. We would come again and recommend to our friends!

Beautiful condo
The condo was very clean, spacious, comfortable and nicely decorated. Our favorite part was the balcony with an amazing view. We enjoyed watching birds while eating breakfast there. We liked that the area was quiet and not crowded. The beach is 5-10 minutes drive and we were the only people there in the mornings. The pool was nice, my son liked the ice cream served in the restaurant by the pool.

Wonderful stay in Matapalo
It is a very lovely and well equipped condo. It was very clean, had new paint and nice décor. It was great having a washer and dryer in the unit, the restaurant on site was very good too. Great view of the ocean and beautiful pool. I would only suggest you get your supplies (snacks and drinks) on your way to the condo because once you get there you won't want to leave.

It was a treat to have the hotel and restaurant opened. We didn’t expect that. The pool was always clean, and the condo was everything we had hoped for; fully equipped to make our experience very enjoyable. The owners were very good at communicating. Beautiful place & and friendly people!
Enjoyed it all! So blessed to spend a week admiring God’s handiwork! The condo is great, so is the building, amenities, and landscapes. Love the view from the balcony and the fans overhead there! Very nice place and perfect area for exploring the different beaches. 15 minutes from Tamarindo. 5 minutes from 3 other nice beaches! the Condo is very nice and there is actually a nice guest book put together by the owners that answers all your questions about things to do and Costa Rica

Great stay! Perfect Location!
The condo was very well equipped and had everything you could need. The views are beautiful and waking up to the sounds of wildlife was quite amazing. There are several beaches within walking distance or a short 5 minute drive. If you are looking for beautiful beaches that are not swarming with tourists you will love it here. The owners gave us so much information on the area beaches and restaurants. All of it was bang on and we had many great meals and beach days.

Great Property, Extremely Good Deal
Casa Gecko is an awesome place where you can disconnect and enjoy a beautiful view at a great value. I stayed at Casa Gecko during August 2018, since the moment I booked, the owners were available and shared with me a great deal of information regarding the property as well as the area (I loved all those insights). The owners let me know that rain had eroded part of the road to the property (last couple of miles before arriving) and invited me to contact the property manager (Walner) in order to check road conditions (Walner took some pictures of the road and sent them to me). Although I took a AWD, I would have just as easily taken a sedan or a car with some clearance as the roads although not pavimented were in not that bad of a shape. However I do appreciate the concern and fluid communication that existed. Once in the complex, you could see that it was well kept and very quiet. The pool was well kept and refreshing. Although the restaurant was closed I met the manager (Don Victor) who invited me and my family to a BBQ in order to celebrate mother's day. Pork was delicious! Regarding the apartment per se, it is much better of what the photos can tell. Place was significantly ampler than anticipated, all spaces were well defined, and the rooms were pretty spacious. Kitchen was stoked and the owner left us some complimentary items to use (coffe, salt, olive oil etc) . Of course the terrace takes the cake with it's beautiful view. Hearing the nature was such a blesing. Finally, the beach, literally walking 10 mins (road has a lot of shade as trees surround the way) takes you to playa conchal which is a pretty long beach with a lot of trees for shade. I've stayed at the playa conchal resort and visited that part of the beach and prefer this side (casa gecko) better. Although there were more families there it truly felt that the beach was for ourselves as the closest person was like 10 meters away. If you prefer to take your car there is a parking and locals that guard your vehicle. All in all it was a extremely good experience and I am grateful that I had the opportunity to visit this house. I'll recommend it to everyone planning on visiting the area. Thanks to the owners and property manager for such an amazing experience and for always being there for us. Regards, Jose

Thank you for your kind and detailed review. It obviously took some time and thought to do so. Casa del Gecko is not only a rental property, but it is also our vacation home. We currently enjoy it only twice a year, since we are both still employed. We plan to be spending more time in Costa Rica soon!

Quite location- close to beach
Great condo, minutes from some great beaches. It's best to rent a 4x4 to get to the beaches, unless you like walking in the heat. The closest restaurants are about 20 minutes away. We enjoyed cooking at the condo. The kitchen is adequately equipped, however the bbq was not functioning. Clean condo, with great views from the balcony & master bedroom. We hope to be back soon.

nice, quiet, felt at home
This condo is at the south end of the Playa Conchal beach area. It is not part of the Reserva Conchal, but has good security. It is a spacious 2 bedroom 2 bathroom unit with a nice ocean view from the patio. The master bedroom and the living room have walk out access to the balcony. For the money, I found it to be a good value. I would book this again.
