My family and I (a group of 6) stayed at Heiðrún's place in February for several days. We were impressed by its cleanliness, how well stocked it was, and how warm it was (we even had to crack open some windows and turn down the geothermal heating to the summer setting, despite the cold weather). It took us a day or so to embrace the wind and rain, but we were able to enjoy the nearby Glanni waterfalls, hikes near Bifröst, Snaefellsnes Peninsula and National Park, and Húsafell, and the fjords to the north. It was an excellent location to see the auroras, because there was not much light pollution. Heiðrún was a very responsive host and answered all questions very quickly!
We only had a couple of issues during our stay:
- It was a little bit difficult to find the house when we first arrived (it's the third turn after the gate!), but that's mostly because Google Maps does not have updated road maps for the housing development there.
- The gate was a bit of an issue, because only two in our group had cell reception during our entire trip (though the others were able to message over wifi at the house and our hotspot). It was often frustrating to coordinate calling to open the gate when our group split up.
- The ceiling leaked after several days of sideways rain, but we were able to manage it with some towels on the floor. Nothing major! I messaged Heiðrún about the issue; she was not able to fix it during our stay, but said it should be dealt with soon.
We would absolutely stay at this or any other property Heiðrún has!
