We have stayed in several VRBOs and this was by far the worst experience. The inside of the house was beautiful but there was no usable outside space and as we were traveling with children that was a big draw to making this choice. In the backyard the owners pet chickens, 8-10 of them, were there and for two days had run of the entire backyard so due to chicken poop we could not let the children play out there. The owner came on four occassions to tend to them putting them back in their pen twice, clipping their wings and then picking one up to take to another location. The fact that there were pets left at the property should have been disclosed, that would have been a deal breaker for us. The side patio looked lovely in the pictures but when we arrived was so filthy it was unusable, I reported this when we arrived and the owner came at 10pm and cleaned it, which was a little late I think. The patio stayed clean for a couple days but then was covered in bird poop due to the birds that were nesting in the two ceiling fans. I was in contact with the management company throughout the stay and now that we are back home have heard nothing from them. I believe we should be reimbursed some of the rental fees for the lack of usable outdoor space and VRBO should definitely disclose when animals are at a property.
