Had a marvelous time on a long weekend. This was the perfect cozy place for a couples’ retreat. The house is very modern considering its history and age. It’s located in a quiet neighborhood just a couple blocks from Lake Tomahawk and all the activities available there. For walkers, it’s just 10-15 minutes from downtown. It’s an uphill walk for the first part, but so worth it when you don’t have to worry about parking! The upstairs bedroom is comfortable (VERY comfy bed!) with its own 1/2 bath. The only shower is in the ground floor bathroom. There’s a second bed in a nook off of the kitchen, so it comfortably sleeps more than 2 people, but it’s a very intimate space and would get crowded quickly with more adults. The hot tub does have privacy screening on both sides, but it also faces the houses in the back across the alley. This small but mighty house has pretty much everything you need including a well stocked kitchen, TVs in each bedroom and the sitting room upstairs, an airy deck, fire pit, washer/dryer, and an overall sense of bright relaxation! The host is wonderful! He was easy to communicate with and so very welcoming. I will 100% stay at the Mac House again the next time we’re looking for time in Black Mountain! The perfect home base escape to catch your breath for a while.
