No heating
Great service with friendly staff. They seemed to be short staffed as had to wait for bar staff to come back. The bar top was very sticky hence fruit flies. We have stayed many times and enjoy it here. The menu seems cut back somewhat and was so cold, no heating or fire. Did not sleep well 😕

We will be back
We had booked two rooms for one night for a family party. The staff are fantastic nothing was too much to ask Grace is sooo helpful and friendly. We had two superior rooms they are big and airy, we had everything we needed and more. The bed was comfy with lovely linen and extra pillows in the wardrobe. These are not the newly refurbished rooms but they are very nice and I thoroughly enjoyed my jacuzzi bath! We had lunch in the restaurant and the food was delicious with great service. Breakfast was scrumptious too!

Overpriced and slightly smelly!
The room for one person cost £289 per night. On entering the room there was a smell of bad drains, there was no hanging space for clothes, only shelves (no hooks, wardrobe or hangers!) and the fabric headboard was stained. This was more of a travel lodge level of accommodation and even that has hanging space! Breakfast is served 8am onwards which doesn't really work if you are staying for business purposes. The positive point of my stay is that the staff were lovely and friendly and made me a bacon sandwich in the morning to takeaway.

Lovely staff, very friendly. Room was very large with large bedroom. Breakfast was absolutely fantastic.. All cooked to order. My husband is a vegetarian and this was not a problem at all. Would recommend..Beautiful pub too

Not great.
Bathroom had cobwebs around the toilet and the tiles look like they hadn’t been cleaned for a year . Breakfast was cold and tasteless (cheap products) It was laid out like a builders canteen with 4 pint milk bottles and loafs of bread still in the packets . The bar / restaurant area was cold in the evening and morning. Bed was comfortable however. I travel a lot and wouldn’t normally comment but felt the need . This place could be great if the effort was put in .

Disappointing Stay
I was very disappointed with the room. When you first walked in to the room it appeared cosy and quaint and well thought out. But on a closer inspection the cleanliness was very poor. Stains on the carpet, arm chair and dressing table seat. The sink had brown stains around the plug and the shower had the previous occupants shampoo down the wall or it could have been a cleaning product not cleaned away. There was also black mould and grime along the grout lines. I have taken pictures just in case the Green Man would like to address the issues. I did expect more from my stay.

Rooms were tired albeit clean, in the restaurant you could check menu by looking at floor and seat covers, yet they do employ a cleaner as she delivered your breakfast in between cleaning toilets

1 night business stay.
Room was a little tired but as it was a budget hotel you have to expect this. Room was comfortable and fascilites we're good. Bar and restaurant were excellent as was the food and service. Waiting staff were very professional. On the downside kitchen had to be closed on Friday morning due to maintenance issue so no breakfast. Note on door told me that refund would be made but have heard nothing after emailing them for refund.

I would return without hesitation
Huge room with a big comfortable bed. The ensuite was also large and had a lovely large corner bath. Food was top notch both in the evening and breakfast. Staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful.

The staff were very friendly on arrival but my room had no heating. When I asked to change room, they organised that straight away and I was located next door. However, the next door room also had no heating - I learned that they knew there were boiler problems on that floor so I eventually (1.5 hrs after arrival) was given another room upstairs. This was a lovely room, warm and clean ….. or so I thought. It appeared that the cleaner had sorted the bedroom out beautifully but had forgotten the bathroom!! Dirty mug in sink, loo not flushed, man’s underwear on the floor and lots of hair/dirt in the bath. Such a pity as I’m sure this was just an oversight - the staff were wonderful, the rooms are beautiful, the location is so handy to A1. Maybe just needs that wee bit extra on the quality control

Fantastic
Fantastic staff couldn't fault them. Food was amazing, very tasty. Room was nice but alot of dust around especially on back of TV and around the wardrobes etc. Jacuzzi bath didn't work but was still overall a fantastic place which I would highly recommend to all!

A satisfying stop over in a friendly country pub
The pub was strangely quiet for a Friday night, but we enjoyed our stay because the staff were friendly and helpful, the food was excellent, and there was a good range of drinks on offer

Not worth the money - unless you like the 1970s.
Below average for the price. There was an event on and I obviously was given the worst room. Looked like something from the 1907s. Dated, musty. Very unpleasant. Food was below average, fried and greasy meal. Breakfast was tired - few veggie options and what was available was overcooked and uninviting.

Your stay at this place will very much depend on which room you get. Some rooms are refurbished and look out onto fields the others are drab and look out onto the parking lot with a bright lights that are left on all night. We were supposed to stay there for 7 nights but we got possibly the two worse rooms available. We left after just staying one night - there was no one around to discuss changing rooms or anything. There seemed to be a lot of commercial travelers that stayed only for one night - I’m not sure why they didn’t consider that and put us in one of the nice rooms seeing as we had made a booking for a longer stay. If you’re looking for a charming English pub stay then this is not the place for you

Excellent overall - professional staff
Despite a check in error of epic proportions on a 2 night stay, the problem was sorted for my next nights stay and the staff could not have been more apologetic. There was clearly a massive slip up somewhere but they did everything they could have done and more to correct the situation. Special thanks to Adam who took control of the error and corrected everything in the most professional and empathetic way possible. So my opinion went from not ever wanting to stay here again to being made to feel that I would actively book here again and I will, based on the extremely professional and pleasant staff and glorious venue. Well done to Adam and the team for retrieving what could have been a poor experience and turning it in to a very positive experience. Many thanks.

Nice stay.....
Beautiful beer garden around the pub. I was in a room just through the archway. But I think there were rooms above the pub. I picked the hottest day of the year to be there. So as there was no air conditioning it was a little uncomfortable to sleep. Obviously had windows open but the pub is situated on a crossroads on a busy B road so very noisy. However, room was compact, shower was good and everything else what you would expect in a normal hotel. Only criticism nowhere to hang clothes! There was an iron there.....but what's the point if nowhere to hang stuff. But plenty of area just to put something protruding from wall to accommodate. Had an evening meal there which was ok. But where they excelled was the huge full English at breakfast. That alone set up my marks 8/10More

stayed at the Green Man many times over the years with my family and grand children. we liked the chalets and its close to where we visit , The Shuttleworth Collection.the only few niggles i have is perhaps more choice of draught bitter im not a real ale person and some modesty curtains in the bathroom as people can see in despite the frosted glass.
