Nestled just a short 10-minute drive away from the charming and renowned market town of Barcelos, this stone-built cottage underwent an extensive renovation project, which was concluded in July 2012. The outcome is nothing short of remarkable—a holiday villa that seamlessly blends contemporary comforts and modern conveniences with the rustic charm of its original structure. We are delighted to offer this splendid retreat to our guests who wish to explore the unspoiled beauty of the Minho region.

The villa promises absolute seclusion and is situated on an expansive plot, encompassing a beautifully enclosed garden with lush green lawns, an expansive outdoor barbecue kitchen, a private pool, a children's plunge pool, and a multi-sports area. As part of our commitment to ensuring your stay is enjoyable, we provide essential amenities such as WiFi internet access and air conditioning in the main house.

The villa is a single-story villa designed to maximize convenience and comfort. An open-plan, fully equipped kitchen seamlessly connects with the lounge area, both of which open onto the front terrace and the inviting pool area. The kitchen boasts granite countertops and a matching backsplash, along with essential appliances, including an oven, hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, kettle, and coffee machine. A convenient breakfast bar with four stools invites casual dining. The lounge area features two comfortable sofas, a satellite TV for your entertainment, a DVD player, and a music centre.

The villa comprises three double bedrooms, two of which feature twin beds, while the third offers a double bed. There is also a wheelchair-accessible shower room for added convenience. Additionally, we can provide an extra bed or cot for a child (7th person).

The villa's exterior is a haven of tranquillity, surrounded by charming stone walls and a paved courtyard. An expansive private pool measuring 10 X 5 meters with depths ranging from 0.90 to 1.5 meters invites you to take refreshing dips. A separate children's pool ensures that young guests have their own safe space to splash and play.

Sports enthusiasts will delight in the outdoor sports area, equipped with football goals, a basketball hoop, tennis facilities, and badminton equipment. A sandbox is thoughtfully provided for younger children. A shaded vegetable garden area, just a stone's throw from the pool, allows you to harvest ripe tomatoes and peppers to enhance your culinary creations. A pergola-covered veranda beckons you to unwind and soak in the views. Convenient private parking spaces for two cars offer direct access to the villa, ensuring your convenience throughout your stay.

Villa Barcelos boasts an idyllic situation within the unspoilt countryside of the Minho region and provides some of the best views you could hope for in this naturally beautiful part of northern Portugal.

The immediate area is rather quiet, as you might expect from such a tranquil setting. The Minho region is famous for Vinho Verde wine, so it's no surprise that there are private farms close by where you can enjoy food and wine tastings.

The charming town of Barcelos is just 10 minutes away by car and is a convenient place to stock up on the essentials, as well as treating yourself to some holiday mementoes. This small medieval town has a range of shops, supermarkets, bars and restaurants, with history around every corner. You'll love trying to spot the ceramic cockerels dotted all over the town and then learning about the famous legend behind them within the ruins of the Paço dos Condes de Barcelos.

Pottery, in general, is one of Barcelos' main claims to fame, with a museum full of sculptures to stroll around. The weekly market held every Thursday is not to be missed, as it's one of the biggest in Portugal and is just bursting with handicrafts, souvenirs, food and clothing.

If relaxing on the beach is more your style, then make a day of it and drive to one of the sandy stretches of the Costa Verde in under an hour. The scenery of the private beaches range from secluded coves to dramatic cliffs, and there are plenty of watersports to try on the open waves.
