Dearest Valerie, I am glad our rating wasn't any lower, since you are reviewing the wrong hotel! LOL! We are glad you got a good breakfast from Margaret, but she doesn't work here! We don't have a cook, or a breakfast, or a porch. We do have an employee named Fabio, our gardener, and he makes sure that we have a very clean patio and lots of lovely flowers! We are also glad we are not in the middle of the Riverwalk. We are actually probably 90 miles from the Riverwalk. We are on Lake Travis in Austin Texas. I hope you can come visit us sometime! ; )

We are so sorry to hear this! You were kind with your review nevertheless, and we thank you for that. It's always so hard to know how to reach the exact "right" firmness for a bed. We try our best, and every now and then, it's just not right for someone. Again, we are especially sorry you were so uncomfortable!! If we would have known, we would have loved to try and move you to another room!

What the customer does not mention was that it was unsatisfactory because the customer did not read the description that it was on the top floor. The customer did not look at the photos of the room to see that there were stairs. The customer was then upset that there were stairs. We have already refunded the customer through hotels.com as a gesture of goodwill to the customer. The customer needs to contact hotels.com for their refund. Even with the refund, the customer still finds it necessary to write a negative review.

It's always disappointing when people are upset because they don't read the info on our website. We state we have a lake view, that we are not lakefront, and provide a photo that shows that view. We actually have a pretty generous breakfast set up! Most of our guests love it! We serve 3 specialty pastries from 3 of Austin's best bakeries: A cheese croissant from Upper Crust, a cinnamon bobka from a specialty Jewish deli, and 2 raspberry bars from Whole Foods. Along with that we serve all of the following organic: 2 yogurts, granola, 2 milks, 3 mandarin oranges, 2 bananas, a pint of half and half and coffee and an assortment of tea. The guests texted me for a late check out. I replied that I could give them an extra hour. They texted back asking for another hour. I let them know that we only have one housekeeper, and that she is only here between certain hours, so we couldn't do the second extra hour, and I agreed to an hour and half. I let her know that we don't charge for late check outs, but how about leaving our housekeeper with a nice tip, because she would be staying later to accommodate them. Apparently that was not enough kindness for them and interpreted as "unfriendly". We don't serve bottled water, because Austin, and especially our water district has very good water. To top it off, they wrote a very sweet and appreciative note in our guest book, and then sent this litany of complaints. Go figure!!

We are happy you enjoyed the facility, and are sorry you were disappointed in your misunderstanding of what we provide. We do advertise specifically in all of our sites that we provide a "Continental Style" breakfast. It is listed under "amenities." We provide 3 specialty pastries from local bakeries, organic fruit, yogurt, milk, orange juice, granola, coffee, tea and half and half. Those types of items constitute the difference between a Continental breakfast and a cooked "American style breakfast" which is typically eggs, meat and some type of bread.

We haven't had such a low review for a long time. When someone feels so unhappy about something, we would love to get a phone call or text about the concerns someone has, so we have a chance in the moment to remedy it. And since it is a review, it's a kindness to the host to let us know what made the guest so dissatisfied so we can attend to it. As it is , it's a mystery...
