The Daily Condo 201 at ATB

Dog-friendly King BD Full Bath in the Epicenter + Private Outdoor Balcony, Fast WiFi, Easy Parking, Perfect for Groups, Antique-Chic DESIGN

If history repeats itself, then may it always be a replay of Asheville’s Gilded Age. If walls could talk, then a centenarian newsroom would have some spectacular stories to tell. And if location is everything, then 120 College Street is the epicenter of all things Asheville.

Welcome to the intersection of past & present, to stories of the Gilded Age, and to the ideal home base for Asheville vacations.

Welcome to The Daily Condo 201 at the Asheville Times Building.
The space
Historic Building, Iconic Views! Heart of Downtown w/ Private Outdoor Space

Once home to the Asheville Times, the local afternoon newspaper and now the city’s most antique-chic address, this is IT: a 1-bedroom, 1-bath, 500 square-foot condo that breathes Asheville history, embodies the Gilded Age spirit, and incorporates all the modern amenities of the 21st century.

Stay in the Shadow of the Gilded Age

Asheville, built post-Industrial boom and riding so high it was almost Depression-proof, is unique among Southern cities. So, why would you stay anywhere but in the historic center? Located in the Asheville Times Building at 120 College Street, The Daily Condo 201 represents the heart of iconic Asheville: in the shadow the Jackson Building (check out that view!), at the start of the Urban Trail arts & history tour, and with easy access to the city’s exceptional dining, nightlife, and culture. Walk Score: 86 – “Very Walkable”!

Historic yet Contemporary Design
From soaring ceilings to original hardwoods, from antique doorknobs to one-of-a-kind artwork, from leather seating to century-old balustrades, the Asheville Times Building preserves the old while incorporating all the must-have new.

Private Outdoor space
Outdoor space may be hard to come by in downtown, but not at The Daily @ 120 College Street! Step out onto your own 160 square-foot, private brick-walled terrace: enjoy a meal (or just a drink) at the bistro table (seats 2), check out the western views over N. Market, and drink in that sunset.

Walk in the Footsteps of ASHEVILLE’S EARLIEST NEWS REPORTERS

There’s nothing more Asheville than living, breathing history. The paper – which changed ownership and names from The Asheville Daily Gazette, to The Gazette-News, to The Times, to The Asheville Times – witnessed the Golden Age of William Sydney Porter (pen name: O. Henry), Thomas Wolfe, and F. Scott Fitzgerald, among other Asheville art royalty. Indeed, 120 College Street is THE creatively prestigious address in Asheville.

Modern Amenities
From a 43” Smart TV’s wall-mounted in both the living room and BR, to streaming entertainment, dimmer lights to a street intercom system, blackout shades to keyless entry, Bosch washer & dryer, and stainless steel appliances, The Daily Condo 201 in the Asheville Times Building at 120 College Street has all the modern comforts you crave.

Fast WiFi
Go on, upload that Asheville selfie! With fast WiFi, you’re as connected as you want to be.

Easy Parking
You don’t need a car at 120 College Street but if you bring one, you’ll be happy to know that parking is easy to find, in lots, parking decks, and on street.

Locally Managed
Don’t underestimate the value of having an Asheville local in your back pocket! From filling you in on secret, no-signage bars, to being on-call 24/7 to help in a late-night emergency, to remote-rebooting the WiFi at a moment’s notice, our 100% local service delivers both a great experience and peace of mind.

Perfect for Groups
Traveling with other families or as a group? Good news! We manage all three residences at 120 College Street, to accommodate a total of 10 guests.

Antique-Chic DESIGN

The Daily Condo 201 at 120 College Street is a special place. It’s probably not like anything you have at home, but it is exactly the historic-yet-contemporary feel you seek in Asheville. It is historic. It is completely renovated. It is period-perfect.
It is home. Or, a home-away-from-home, at least.

Each of the three properties, The Gazette Condo 200, The Daily Condo 201 and The News Condo 202 the Asheville Times Building at 120 College Street rises to 10-foot ceilings and blends select antiques with new pieces, modern furnishings with neutral tones, sleek lines with strategic pops of ebullient color. Architectural walls dull sound, the kitchen is fully stocked, the closets are custom, and the bathrooms are completely renovated. You’ll sleep like a baby, thanks to custom drapes and blackout shades.

This is where modern meets old world, and it couldn’t be any more Asheville. It’s the perfect complement to your historic downtown experience, complete with a 160 square-foot outdoor terrace and bistro table seating for two.

A Piece of History

There’s nothing quite so Ashville as staying in a living piece of history. Specifically, a living piece of history where local news writers and makers once plied their craft!

We’ll tell you a little story. The 1880-1930 era was a pivotal time in Asheville’s history: This was the Gilded Age, a post-industrial and pre-Depression age that welcomed the railroad, grandiose living, urban development, and the creative minds of O. Henry, Thomas Wolfe, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and others. Asheville rode so high it almost side-stepped the Great Depression.

The Asheville Times Building at 120 College Street was originally built in 1914 for the Asheville Gazette-News; (later, the Asheville Times), occupied 120 College Street until the 1930’s.

Fun fact: In 1929, Thomas Wolfe would forever immortalize this time in his highly autobiographical first novel “Look Homeward, Angel,” a coming-of-age story that mirrored his life in Asheville and experiences at his mother’s famous boardinghouse, Dixieland, "the most famous boardinghouse in American fiction.” Just two blocks north on Market Street is the restored Thomas Wolfe Memorial State Historic Site and welcomes visitors Tuesday-Saturday.
