We are so sorry for your experience. It was our last room available and it was a pet room, hence the old flooring. Our standard is much higher and we didn’t meet it for you. Please accept our sincere apologies.

This guest didn’t even stay with us. He cancelled day of, in the busiest week of the year and got upset about the cancellation penalty.

Dear Brianna, We are very sorry we could not offer the price of 2 people for your reservation of 1 adult, 4 children and 2 dogs. Please understand that laundry, cleaning, wear and tear, and utility cost differences make it impossible. The good news is we are still the least expensive way to lodge medium and large families in Taos County and unlike other hotels, at the SnowMansion everyone gets their own bed. Also our world class location, old world hospitality, cute, clean and unique rooms, guest kitchens and the beautiful gardens next door have to count for something. We are very sorry for your disappointment. I can see how when you stay one night and come late and leave early and pay event weekend prices, you may not realize, use or appreciate, our thoughtful amenities, comfortable common areas, great outdoor seating and expansive grounds. You might also miss our world class location and old world European village with cafes, shops and galleries. And you might not care that even on the most expensive night of the summer, we are still 100 less than any other hotel in the area. We are a small hotel and not always perfect but the vast majority of our guest really appreciate what we do and have unique and enjoyable experience. Thank you for the review and for telling me that while you found the room clean and the staff really nice, that the room seems over priced at $200 per night. Yes he prices was higher Han normal which happens in this town when the big hotels are sold out or close to sold out. We died replace the mattress that you found springy and the bathroom sink valve that didn’t give you the water pressure that you needed. My guess is you loved our world class location but were surprised by our unique 100 year old lodge and were mystified by house we manage to make our rooms so cozy and yet so expansive. We too wish our Lodge Studio Suites offered larger windows with better views and certainly recommend our Pearl Annex Suites for the price difference. But being able to lodge a party of 5, all I. Their own bed deserves an honorable mention. As does our beautiful village and gorgeous grounds. The clean and comfortable rooms also help. It’s hard to appreciate these things if you are a 1 and done type of traveler, staying 1 night, arriving late and leaving early. Your review must reflect the safe and thoughtful environment even though it is not the cookie cutter could be anywhere same old same old you are used too. Thanks for staying with us.

We are a little dumbfounded that you did not leave us any feedback as to how we could have improved your stay. We are sorry this guest was underwhelmed by their experience. I think it is mostly the wrong guests in the wrong room who only stayed one night and didn’t have the time to explore all we have. It’s funny and in some ways fitting this guest was reminded of the 1970’s. Dear Thomas, Thank you fort our feedback. I wish you had mentioned the warmth in the room while you were here. That could have been remedied with by putting the fan in the window to pull the night air into the room. Our WiFi is usually quite fast, though we admit it was up and down and all over the place that weekend. We do appreciate quiet in the lodge after 10 pm but there are plenty of areas to socialize after 10 pm in our social compound a short walk across the parking lot. Such are are the challenges of providing world class hospitality in a world class location in a historic building. Thank you for your feedback, we will use it to look for ways to improve.

This guest probably waited too long to make a reservation for Memorial Day weekend and had to take one of our more basic rooms because that’s is all we had left and a high price because most or all of the rooms in Taos were booked. It happens. We always get great reviews from our suites in the pearl annex. Our hotel, family and group rooms in the Lodge Building are great for adventure travelers, large families and groups. Our cabins are great for adventure travelers. Future guest who want old world elegance should book early and book our suites. Adventurers, large families and groups ask about our Lodge Rooms and Cabins. All guest who don’t check in too late and leave too early enjoy our hospitality and our our one of a kind, solar light garden. it is truly magical.

This guest walked in and walked out on Memorial Day weekend. They did not take a look at our beautiful grounds. They did not take time to interact with our amazing guests. They did not take time to marvel and enjoy our majestic location. They did not take time to what their needs were and what needs weren’t being met. They did not take time to inquire about the full range of our accommodations including our beautiful suites. We are sorry that we did not meat their expectations. We would have tried if we New what they were.

We are a traditional hostel in the best sense, “a full kitchen to cook your meals, a reading area with a fireplace, meeting people, and more” as you say. We do have private hotel/family rooms with their own bathrooms and shower as well as nicely appointed suites for those guest who do not wish to share a bathroom.
