Oceanfront Condo with Artful Décor, Pool & Balconies

Playa Caribe 6 is a second-floor beachfront condo on the southern tower of Half Moon Bay, designed for families, couples, and friends who appreciate color and character. The Master Suite includes a king bed, tiled bath, and private balcony. The guest bedroom has two double beds with handwoven spreads and its own bath. Both bedrooms and living areas are cooled by central AC.

The living and dining areas are decorated with tropical fabrics and original artwork from local artists, while the kitchen is fully equipped with modern appliances. The open layout flows naturally to an oceanfront terrace where guests can dine, relax, or watch the turquoise waves. At the back, two private balconies overlook the jungle—one with a BBQ, the other set with a table for morning coffee.

Guests enjoy daily housekeeping, beach towels, purified water, parking, and 24-hour security. Shared amenities include a pool, loungers, and outdoor shower. The condo balances privacy with comfort, making it an excellent choice for groups of six.

Half Moon Bay is known for its blend of soft sand and coral rock, creating a unique shoreline with great snorkeling. Yal Ku Lagoon, Akumal Bay, restaurants, and shops are all within walking distance. A rental car or private driver is recommended for exploring ruins, cenotes, and nearby towns. Playa Caribe is one of Akumal’s most respected beachfront properties, known for its excellent service.

KINDLY NOTE: South winds may bring Sargasso Seaweed to some beaches throughout the Caribbean, including the Rivera Maya. While the situation is hard to predict for each specific week and area, we would like you to be aware as there is the potential to impact the beach and water entry.

We have a great list of activities and adventures completely unaffected by the arrival of sargasso that we would love to share with you. Beware of Sargassum

This condo looked just like the pictures in terms of the building and the inside of the unit though the unit had a bit of a damp, musty smell and the floors always felt wet. The people running the property were very friendly and available to answer any of our questions we had and provide assistance at a moment's notice when needed. The woman who cleaned our unit everyday did an impeccable job which was a good thing because even if there was just a crumb of food somewhere in the kitchen there would be a trail of tiny ants that would find their way to it. Unfortunately, the sargassum has completely taken over the beach and sea in most of Half Moon Bay and especially around Playa Caribe. The main reason I booked this specific condo was to spend the week with a beach right outside of the condo. Instead we had to find cenotes and other places to swim but at least we had a car. Beware that the beach down the road is $6US per person and if you want to drive the mile to it that is another $5. It also wasn't very pleasant to just hang out by the pool because once it sits for a while the sargassum produces a sulfer (rotten egg) smell. Personally, I think that this place was overpriced given the awful condition of the beach. I know that this isn't anything that anyone has control over and we made the most of it but I will not be returning and want others to be aware.

Amazing Christmas Vacation

We had a fantastic visit to this property Dec 2022. The location is unbeatable, the snorkeling top notch, and the neighborhood charming!! The condo was perfect for my family with 2 teens!! Everything was just as expected and we loved every minute. We rented a car, but really didn’t need it. The bikes were perfect for getting all around the area. We hope to head back again in the future. There is still so much to explore!!!

Wonderful Condo, Great Location

Loved everything about the condo and especially enjoyed and appreciated the local art. The location can’t be beat for view - couldn’t be any closer to the ocean without being on a ship. Once we wandered a bit, we decided we had the best location in Half Moon Bay.

Wonderful stay in Akumul!

This property is lovely! We stayed here in January, 2022 with our daughter and son in law. This 2nd floor condo is spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated and the view of Half Moon Bay is priceless. The pool and ocean were just steps away and La Buena Vista restaurant and a small grocery store are just down the street Everything was perfect and we would stay here again

Akumal gem

Playa Caribe has a wonderful staff and a great location. You can walk to town or two restaurants nearby. The condo was extremely clean and the staff accommodate requests swiftly and with great service. The pool is not heated but our kids and the others visiting did not seem to care. My only complaint is the entrance into the ocean is terribly rocky and getting into the water is really challenging without water shoes and even then I would say it is somewhat treacherous. The beach itself is beautiful but the seaweed has taken over, so not ideal if you love a quick dip in the ocean while soaking up your ocean time. I snorkeled but did not see any fish, my understanding is you have to go far out into the reef to see anything and most recommended using a boat. The condo itself is great and the people there wonderful. If you want a smooth beach I would recommend staying near Maroma or Playa del Carmen.

The property offered welcome shelter from the wind as it is set back. This however restricted the views along the coastline but never-the-less good views to open sea. The accommodation had a great flow and was immaculately clean. A great stay!

Wonderful experience!

We had the most amazing time at this condo! Myrna and the property manager Pablo made sure that we had everything that we needed. We had a toddler with us and we were provided a crib, high chair and netting on the balcony for extra security. The location of the condo is outstanding - right on the beach so that you could fell asleep and wake up to the sound of ocean. Also, though the Half Moon bay beach has some stones (so make sure you have the water shoes with you), it actually makes it a very excellent place for snorkeling. We would spend every morning snorkeling before lunch and it was a highlight of our trip. So make sure you bring your snorkeling gear with you!

Quiet and Relaxing

We stayed at Myrna's condo for one week and loved it. Perfect location for a quiet, relaxing vacation, and the place is larger than the photos portray. Loved the opportunity to snorkel anytime we wanted (the beach is rocky so bring water shoes). Pool and purified water is a nice touch. Akumal beach is crowded with all inclusive resorts/tourists; half moon bay is quiet, relaxing, chill. Loved it and plan to return ASAP

Wonderful relaxing trip

My husband and I loved this property. Just darling, lots of space, a full kitchen (not used by me)!! and lovely Mexican artwork. Akumal is a great small quiet town where you do not need a car to get around. Bikes, walking and golf cart rental seem to work best. No large Hotels, just a small quiet community with lovely restaurants and a nice place to relax. We had beautiful weather, lovely calm ocean for snorkeling right out our door and delightful restaurants within minutes of beach walking from the condo. Would highly recommend and we shall be back!

Best location on Half Moon Bay

The owner of this unit has done everything possible to make your vacation comfortable and enjoyable. The unit is equipped with everything advertised and more. The photos are recent and the unit is kept impeccably clean by the housekeeping staff. We got exactly what was advertised. The unit is at one of the best entry points on HMB in terms of sand and rocks (Bring water shoes), and the staff rakes the beach daily. The water is 100% drinkable due to the filtration system they use. Furniture is in excellent condition, and the beds were comfortable. each room features its own balcony in addition to the large balcony off the living room. The 2nd floor is high enough off the street to not be bothered by noise, high enough to enjoy a view of the beautiful bay, but not so high that you spend too much energy going up and down the stairs :). The AC works (too well< I wanted to turn it off and just sleep with the windows open). Plenty of hot water, though operating the shower was a bit beyond my abilities and usually I ended up turning dials until something good happened. The unit has beautiful local artwork. Fantastic value for price paid. The fridge was showing signs of age on the outside but worked great on the inside and they keep so many filled ice cube trays in the freezer you'd need to invite 30 friends over for margaritas before you'd run out.

Playa Caribe #6 in Akumal was Fantastic!

We stayed at Playa Caribe #6 from October 16-22, 2019. When looking for our trip, we were waffling between a few of the condos available at Playa Caribe (e.g., do we want to be a floor higher, a balcony that is just a titch closer to the ocean, etc.). We were really attracted to the layout of #6, the art as well as the white backdrop and all of the traditional, colourful Mexican decor. It was, exactly as described and absolutely lovely. Myrna Sparks, the owner was very helpful. She made sure that we knew where everything was in the condo, provided us with an information package on where to eat and things to do in and around Akumal. My husband had several conversations prior to our vacation, which was really appreciated. Myrna asked Augustin the property manager to have Israel pick us up at the airport and we knew before we left where we could stop on the way to Akumal to buy groceries for the week - we stopped at the Solinaro (sp) in Playa del Carmen. It is a huge grocery store that had everything and more that we could possibly want. We were well stocked. Just after we settled in Patricia came bustling in with her arms full of goodies for us, which we enjoyed throughout the week - also very appreciated. Patricia came every day to clean our condo and was a fantastic resource for us. Augustin also arranged bicycles for us to rent for the week and helped us whenever we wanted to go somewhere. Everyone was always very cheery. We spent a lot of time at the pool, the beach and also in the water. We snorkeled and visited the magnificent sea turtles. One morning, 4 condos down, the gardener called two of the certified turtle rescuers who live in a condo on Half Moon Bay to come and rescue baby green sea turtles that were hatching, but being attacked and eaten by racoons and signets. They rescued 23 baby sea turtles that they returned to the ocean later in the evening. Seeing that was so exciting. We had a wonderful relaxing holiday and loved staying at Play Caribe #6 - thanks to Myrna Sparks, Augustin, Patricia and Israel!

Great place to stay!

This condo is inviting, bright, cheery and immaculate. The view of the ocean is wonderful. The balcony is a good size with nice outdoor furniture. Bed was very comfy with soft, upscale sheets. Great water pressure and always had hot water to shower. It was nice to be able to drink the water in the condo and not have to hassle with bottled water. Pool and deck area were kept sparkling clean. It is a short walk to restaurants and several small convenience stores with basic supplies. There was quite a bit of sargassum during our visit, but the owners did a good job spraying the sargassum several times a day to alleviate the bad smell. The owner, Myrna, was very helpful and great to work with. She was able to accommodate our early arrival check in and late departure which made things much easier for us. I highly recommend this condo.

We had a wonderful stay at the Playa Caribe and fell in love with the little town of Akumal Before arriving we were provided a detailed list of what to expect and a great list of attractions and restaurants to visit during our stay from Myrna. It was helpful and took away the guess work. We arrived to beautifully decorated condo with an amazing view of the ocean. The condo provided everything we needed during our stay. The front office helped us with any transportation we needed but had to wait a little while for a response. There was plenty of room for the four of us I would highly recommend this condo and can't wait to go back! The Fenster's Montana

Perfect spot. Beautiful condo, aesthetically and well supplied with everything we needed.

Everything was thumbs up but for the occasionally music from next door that wafted to our serene porch experience and children and other talkative guests by the pool sometimes louder than we’d like. But we would happily go back. Host Myrna couldn’t have been more helpful- most helpful and attentive as we prepared to go . Akumal’s half moon bay is a gem of perfect read walk snorkel eat at Buena vida two mi utes down the beach or La Lunita for a little fancier. The Cenote five minute walk away is dreamy.

Wonderful condo in a quiet Akumal setting

Our family of 4 had a great stay in Playa Caribe 6 the week of May 19-26th. The condo itself is a pleasure to be in: nicely decorated and well taken care of. I really enjoyed looking at all the artwork. The kids loved the beach and the pool. There are several great places to eat, including our absolute favorite on the beach within walking distance.
