A wonderful stay!
Four of us -- myself, a friend from California, and my brother and sister-in-law -- had a most wonderful time staying at Kim and Jacob's fantastic cottage right on the beach at Akumal. We felt extremely well-looked after -- Edgar and Karen made sure everything was spick and span every day, and, being without a car, we were very grateful that Edgar could pick up groceries and take us to the ATM when necessary. We also had Edgar cook for us a few nights, which was super, and Kim's gifts of food and drink were highly appreciated! It's a really beautiful place -- extremely private, with its own little lagoon in front, but easy to walk to the softer sands to the left of the property to get deeper into the water for a good swim when you wish. And then you can walk 3 minutes to the right to Jungle Fish for dinner when you fancy a change (we enjoyed dancing to the lively cover band one night!). Very very tranquil -- we read, did yoga, played Scrabble, drank wine and talked -- and never stopped marvelling at the beauty of the location: thank you so much for everything, Kim and Jacob!

Beautiful family vacation spot!
We loved our stay at Isla Escape. Jacob's house is beautiful. My 3 sons, ages 7, 15 and 17 are all asking to come back. As a mom, I felt very reassured that we were in a safe neighborhood. The house was private even with other houses right next door. The garden was beautifully maintained with multiple places to sit and relax. The house and yard were cleaned daily, and on our last day they even offered to do our laundry so that I don't have a pile to do when we get home - what more can a mom ask for?! There were kayaks, life vests, some scuba masks, and beach toys. The kids also loved seeing the hermit crabs and lizards that would pass through outside. The Jungle Fish beach club was just a short walk down the beach and gave us a wonderful place to relax with food, a pool for the kids, and drinks. We were able to explore all around Riviera with our rental car- cenotes, Mayan ruins, Isla Mujeres, swimming with the sea turtles at Akumal Beach, monkeys at Punta Laguna, snorkeling, fishing. This region has it all. Highly recommend!

Isla Escape is better than advertised
We stayed here for a week - two adult couples. We were very comfortable and able to completely unwind and relax. The property is on the beach and has a wonderful yard and covered patio so you can really be outdoors all the time if you like. It is a very quick walk from the best restaurant in Akumal - Jungle Fish. The host is nearby and very responsive and helpful.

My friends and I had an amazing time in Mexico! Casa Moonee was an absolute wonderful place to stay! My friends and I are so happy we went with the area of Akumal, it was a great spot!!! We adventured around and decided we made a wise choice! The sargassum in the Akumal area was extremely minimal compared to other areas. We felt safe and everyone we encountered were so nice! We treated ourselves to a special swanky dinner at Alux restaurant, very high end but worth the experience!! We didn't have a bad meal anywhere we went and the service was great for us everywhere. I highly recommend Akumal dive shop, Emilia was a wonderful dive instructor and the Dos Olos Cenote dive was magical! No fish or coral but a beautiful dive in a cavern like setting. Jacob and Kim were amazing hosts and gave us wonderful recommendations for our adventures! I also highly recommend getting the private massages at the cottage, it was wonderful and relaxing! I would highly recommend Casa Moonee to anyone! Such a beautiful and peaceful vibe!! We rented a car and I highly recommend that!

The property is location is amazing, right on the beach and about 200 yards from a pretty cool reef for snorkeling. The checkin and put were smooth and the hosts are there every time you need them. We will be back for sure.

The pictures don’t to the property justice. Located in Akumal between Playa del Carmen and Tulum, close access to everything. Your own private beach with snorkeling and kayaking steps away. Kim and Jacob were kind and courteous hosts. We would definitely stay here again!

Well-appointed beach cottage right on the beach with a lovely private garden and patio. Beautiful sunrises. The 3rd bedroom is a loft with twin beds, making the place a little tight for 6 adults. Recommend water shoes for the beach, due to rocks. Owners are super helpful and accommodating.

Isla Escape aka “the Flying Dutchman”
Had small group of 5 adults (2 over 90) to celebrate my mothers100th birthday. Property as a pied-a-terre as part of Casa Moonee was functionally, aesthetically and beachfrontly one of the best recreational property experiences in my 57 year travel history - which is extensive and broad. Ownership applies Dutch and Korean attention to detail - services and amenities aplenty - all meals cooked on site with full electric induction infrastructure, outdoor cooking snd refrigeration et al - bedrooms with fantastic mattresses - housecleaning and landscaping included as much or as little as required and arranged and most importantly one of the next beachfront with native coral break water assemblage fostering the singularly most inviting tidal pool sand experience in all of Akumal - even those really fancy places around the bay to the south. Parking access on site removes headaches - access to 307 and all the Mayan riviera make this a sweet stay. All my family (direct and extended) live to Jacob and Kim (captains of the ship - or what I like to call the Flying Dutchman which is a true Isla escape ❤️ From my 100 year old mother who went in the ocean (one of her most favourite things to do in life)

Fantastic !
I brought my girlfriend Lauren for a quick anniversary beach get away and this little bungalow was perfect. Clean and comfortable with AC and fans if we wanted to cool off. We loved the direct access to the beach the the private lagoon. The hosts Moon and Jacob were incredible. Moon was so kind and gracious to us, we even enjoyed a meal together. The house is located in an private area of Akumal a short walk to the the hotels and restaurants and more busy beach area. There is some nice snorkeling to be had directly in front of the house. We lounged in the palapa and hammock every day. There is also a really nice small beach restaurant just about 200 yards south called Jungle Fish that we went to nearly every single day. Great food and fresh fish and lobster are brought up in a boat directly to the restaurant every day. We also used the outdoor grill to cook our own fish ! Overall fantastic house, hosts and location.

This place was the most relaxing home for two couples. Jacob was a fabulous resource of information and conversation! Every evening we went out with a flashlight to help local volunteers with marking the area of nesting sea turtles. We even watched a meteor shower one night!!

Amazing Cottage
Words can’t describe what a beautiful piece of property this is. Pictures don’t do it justice at all. Great location, easy walk on the beach to Akumal and all the restaurants. Super quiet and private at the cottage and the owner Jacob lives next door. He was such a great host, had a wealth of knowledge on all the questions we had. If you’re looking for a sanctuary with a constant breeze and view of the azure blue sea, look no further. Jakob has created a wonderful spot to sit out, day or night, on the comfortably furnished patio or right out at the edge of the property just over the beach. Kayaks will keep you busy as will a short walk to town on the sand to grab a bite at any of a myriad of restaurants. But if you’re like me, busy is the last thing you’re looking for!

Yes, this really is a wonderful place with a great host. It was perfect for two couples. Comfortable beds, inviting outdoor spaces and peaceful. Easy walk on the beach to the restaurants and shops of Akumal. Akumal is a delightful location away from the bustle of Tulum and Play aDel Carmen, but close enough to both for quick day trips. Three house is located on a quiet road of private homes and condos with friendly neighbors. Truly special.

This property is amazing. Right on the water. Everything you need is provided.
We have stayed at many properties around the world and Jacob’s home is at the top. Low key and chill. Great for just hanging out and doing absolutely nothing but taking in the scenery and enlightenOmg your senses. A bit tight for 3 couples as one bed is in the loft so pretty open. Great for a small family or two couples. We had 6 adults and it was fine. Daily cleaning. Kayaks and some snorkel gear. Water shoes recommended as while there is a lovely patch of beach right there, it is rocky along the shore. Loved everything about the area with a restaurant within 500 feet or a 15 minute walk to Akumal beach where there are many choices. Enjoy!

A piece of paradise
The pictures only begin to do the beauty of this place justice. Jacob is a great host and Ismael and Margerita are wonderful people. Bozo (one of Jacob's dogs) is a love sponge once you start scratching her at the base of her tail. Only one slight caution. Walking from the house to Akumal Beach restaurants is somewhat impractical (especially the return trip). JungleFish to the south is quite walkable. Tequilaville in town is a bargain (go on Friday for the ribs) and Imelda's had the best breakfast $4 USD can buy.

Anyone looking for a private, beautifully decorated, cozy beachfront home to vacation in need look no further as Isla Escape is the place to stay. My family of three adult couples feel so fortunate to have been able to stay at this truly lovely property. We were greeted with a smile by the groundskeeper, Ismael, and his wife Margherita even though we arrived quite early while they were busy cleaning. Each day they came and made the house and yard spotless. The property is bordered by a private home on either side but you’d never know it as we never heard a sound from either one and the palm trees and other vegetation keep it very private. The beach in front of the house is quite a bit lower than the level of the yard so when people (very few) walked past we couldn’t see them from the house. The home is beautifully built, nicely decorated, and clearly well taken care of. It was well stocked and even had liquor left by the guests before us. Although we didn’t see the sea turtles themselves, they were nesting up and down the beach in the evening during our stay, each nest carefully marked with a Do Not Disturb sign the next morning. Jacob, who owns the property, was a great guy and was very helpful and gracious, available at any time, but not intrusive in any way. The barbecue propane tank had been emptied by the previous renters and, at dinnertime, in just a few minutes Jacob had another full one brought to us. He also offers contact information to have a masseuse come and we had the most wonderful deep tissue massage under the palm trees. Truly a dream vacation in a pristine place. To top it all off, my daughter and her husband’s flight left later in the day than the rest of us and Jacob rearranged his schedule to drive them to the airport in Cancun. Wow, how incredibly thoughtful, thank you Jacob for being such a wonderful host!

Perfect Home for our trip!
We had an incredible time at this property. The check-in/out process was VERY easy, we arrived a little early and they were able to let us check-in early which we REALLY appreciated. The house is very comfortable, and the backyard is an oasis. During the day the beach chairs were a perfect spot to relax and the evenings were spent enjoying our time under the palapa. The yard is kept immaculate each day by Ismael and the house can be cleaned daily if you choose by his wife, Margherita, We enjoyed getting to know both of them very much, such a kind and helpful couple. The location is very easy walking distance to the Akumal beach along the sand (we quickly found out you are not allowed to walk along the sidewalks that go the length of the beach unless you’re staying at the respective resort along side it. You will be chased! Lol) The beach is a short and beautiful walk though so it didn’t matter too much. We quickly befriended a very reliable and helpful taxi driver (Armando) and spent the few dollars each day having him drive us to and from the other end of the beach to the shops, store, and restaurants. One thing to note, as far as we found, there is not a street connecting the area the villas are located directly to the main part of town so the only timely way to walk there is along the beach. That’s not a bad thing necessarily, but if traveling with someone who has difficulty walking in sand you will want to plan on using taxis or renting a car to get around. If we return to Akumal we will definitely try and stay at this property again, it truly is a gem.

My wife and I were in desperate need of a week's worth of getaway time and we immediately seized the opportunity to go back to Isla Escape where we enjoyed a 4-night stay two years ago. Nothing had changed, and that was perfectly fine--exactly what we were wanting and needing. Jacob was again most welcoming and enjoyable to interact with, as were his crew. We highly recommend Isla Escape for those who are wanting a vacation away from the many crowded resort areas along the coast.

The house, gardens, sea views, privacy, outdoor sitting places, and tiled cooking unit were all a pleasure to behold and a delight to experience. Everything in the house was carefully and tastefully chosen, making it both comfortable and pleasureful. The housekeeping and grounds maintenace couple took excellent care of us and were delightful to converse with, as was Jacob, the owner. I highly recommend Casa Escape. Being an avid swimmer, the one disappointment for me was easy access to deep water for swimming because of the extended coral reefs, which I found difficult to manage, being elderly.

Great family vacation spot
If you are considering this property I would highly receommend it. We stayed 7 days with our three kids and had a wonderful time. The property is advertised truthfully, its clean, comfortable, safe but mostly spectacular. The pictures don’t do it justice. Our kids range in age from 14, 11 and 8 and all of them are already begging to go back. Jacob is a wonderful host that anticipates your needs before you arrive. The location is perfect for cenotes, exploring ruins, snorkeling with turtles or visiting the money sanctuary. If you want a truly special vacation spot book this property without delay.

Beautiful, Peaceful..Simply Amazing
We've stayed in some amazing spots on the planet, and this house on the beach takes first place for us. We were there February 2019 with our two sons ages 9 and 11. It was perfect for our family of four. Yes it's right on the beach, which is special to say the least. But for us what set this place apart from every other ocean-side property is the privacy of the beautiful "yard" that runs between the house and the beach itself. Jacob has been cultivating a shaded, tree-gemmed property for years and years. You walk out of the house towards the beach and find yourself moving through a gorgeous yard with a covered palapa, hammock, well-placed little tables under palms, and of course, lounge chairs where the yard meets the beach itself. The great thing is that there is a stone wall about 6 feet high at the beach edge, so you never feel that beach-walkers are walking through your space. While there are houses on both sides of the property, they are shielded with mature trees and plants. It feels secluded but it's safely nestled in a quiet area. The other thing we loved was walking to dinner every night down the beach, which took 10 or 15 minutes depending on which of the 8 or 9 restaurants you pick. We're pretty much foodies and spoiled with the San Francisco food scene, and the creative tastiness of so many of these restaurants truly blew us away. Jacob was gracious and friendly and helpful. He was present in all the right ways. We felt lucky to be hosted by him and to share - even if just for a week - his beautiful property.

We had a great stay in Feb for 10 days. Location is set back from the beach slightly, the outdoor space is excellent and is very comfortable and wonderful to relax in. Bring water shoes or use the ones provided by the owner to get out into the water. The snorkeling is very good right at the house. The interior of the house is very nice and decorated beautifully. You can walk to Akumal town in 15 min on the beach and to another restaurant the other way in 5 min. The owner Jacob is such a nice guy and so helpful with recommendations and making sure you are happy and enjoying your stay. He had so much food and drinks provided in the house we didn’t food shop for 2 days after our arrival! A nice touch we have never had in using VRBO for over 15 years. I recommend this villa, Jacob has a great home in a very nice location that anyone would love.

Secluded & Relaxing Waterfront Getaway
Jacob and his casita did not disappoint! He went above and beyond to help us with whatever we requested, and was the best host. Our intent when coming to this part of the coast was to spend time in Tulum, but we fell in love with quaint Akumal (especially the Jungle Fish restaurant down the way). A perfect place to stay
We have wanted a beach Christmas for several years and chose the Tulum area to make it happen this year. We are so happy we found Isla Escape. Five of us gathered from several cold climates and found ourselves in the perfect spot. The casita is charming- comfortable spacious rooms, a fully functional kitchen, and lovely outdoor lounging areas. We arrived late in the evening and were greeted by Jacob, who directed us to a great beachside restaurant just up the beach. Then we discovered the kitchen stocked with everything we needed for breakfast the next day! We enjoyed snorkeling every day, both right at the reef behind the casita and at a short walk down the beach to the bay with turtles. Those of us who didn't bring our own snorkel gear found what we needed at the casita. Kayaking was lots of fun too. Mostly we relaxed in the sun or in the hammock in the shade, read and chatted. Margarita and Ismael kept the casita spotless inside and out, and Jacob was a superb host- answered all our questions about where to go and what to do. The casita is easily accessible off a main highway, but quiet and secluded. It is an easy drive from the Cancun airport. There are numerous restaurants in walking distance. You can find most of what you need at shops in Akumal, and Tulum is a short drive to a large grocery store if needed. We enjoyed having a chef-prepared meal at the casita, as well as massages, all arranged by Jacob. We highly recommend Isla Escape as a wonderful place to stay, and a great alternative to the bustle, crowds and noise of a resort. We will absolutely return when we can- especially when the turtles are nesting right there on the beach! Jacob has created a real gem, truly an escape to paradise!

Fantastic Stay @ Isla Escape
Our stay in Akumal @ Isla Escape was just perfect. It was the first time to the Yucatan for myself, my husband, and two adult sons. The cottage, gardens, palapa, beach and view of the ocean was spectacular. We loved the privacy and quiet location for walking along the beach, snorkeling without other people, and lounging in the chaise or hammock. Theresa, who comes to the cottage each day to clean, was delightful, as was Ismael who cares for the gardens and beach. Jacob, who owns the property, provided us with wonderful advise and tips about getting to places, things to avoid, getting groceries, favorite restaurants, etc. Also, he's an intelligent, positive, thoughtful person and was so kind to share with us his knowledge of the area. We really enjoyed our conversations with him. We stayed at Isla Escape for 11 days and were able to visit two centotes, Tulum ruins, Chichen Itza ruins, Xel'Ha, Yal Ku, along with snorkeling it front of the cottage and down the beach towards Akumal. We had breakfast at the cottage every day and went out to dinner each night to wonderful restaurants in Akumal and Tulum. We could not have had a better vacation! Thank you so much Jacob!

Paradise Found!
We really enjoyed our stay at Isla Escape. We were greeted by Jacob and his two furry friends, Tina and Bozo who we kind of adopted that week. Jacob was very helpful in directing us to restaurants and sights to see. The casita is perfect for four people. We usually made breakfast there and then went out for dinner. We had chef Martin prepare a dinner for us one night and it was delicious! We loved sitting on the beach, reading and snorkeling and also walking down the beach to go to dinner. Isla Escape was very relaxing and we would love to go back. Highly recommended!

Charming, secure, comfortable and perfect for our family of 5.
We spent a relaxing week in this immaculate beach house. The kids played on the beach, we enjoyed using the canoes, we took many a relaxing 15 minutes walk down the beach to Akumal for meals. Right on the beach but safe & secure. The owner lives right next door, has the fridge stocked with a few essentials when you arrive and is available to ask any questions. You can’t do much better than this - Highly recommend!

Wonderful stay at quiet, well furnished beach house. Jacob was extremely helpful with advice and took care of all of our needs. We were able to snorkel right off the beach and a quick walk down the beach to many great restaurants. Highly recommended!

Fantastic
Beautiful holiday in every way- peaceful, close to great attractions, perfect location to either just relax or enjoy the wonderful amenities of the area. The house was perfect for our family of five and our children had such a great time. So glad we held off and did our family trip just before schools back in! Starting out the school year with wonderful family time will be such a strength in the coming year. Thanks Jacob for sharing your little bit of heaven!

I'm hesitant to write this glowing review only because I don't want to let the secret out, making it hard for us to secure this place in the future....but really, Isla Escape is a true gem. Jacob, who lives next door, was incredibly accommodating; he came around just enough to be friendly and helpful but he also let us enjoy the space as if it were our own. The house is very clean, beds are comfortable, and the outdoor area exceeded our expectations. Definitely consider hiring the chef, Martin. Overall a perfect vacation....

Paradise Found!!
Isla Escape is our favorite HomeAway/VRBO find to date! The setting is incredibly beautiful. The hospitality shown by Jacob, Margarita and Ismael made this trip even more special. From the groceries left in the fridge... to the bday bottle of vino.. to the kids pool set up for our 4 daughters...wow! It was all just wonderful. It was the perfect place for my family of 6. Thank you so much for offering your lovely home, Jacob and Kim! We plan to return.

Absolutely wonderful
My girlfriends and I had the best time here. The house had all the things to get us started when we got there. It was in walking distance on the beach to the town center and the view is fantastic. The beds were comfortable and I really enjoyed having so much hot water at a beach house. We were very impressed and would go back in a second. Thank you so much for your hospitality.

Awesome! Quiet and relaxing. Loved the Location
Jacob was awesome. The cleaning service was great and friendly. They did a great job. Easy to work with great location. There are a lot of wonderful restaurants nearby and close to activities. We would come here again!

Truly AMAZING!!!
Amazing!! We had the opportunity to spend time in both of the owner's homes and loved them both. It was our last vacation before our youngest girls (twins) went off to college and it made for great memories. We were greeted with open arms by Jacob. His staff and Margarita took very good care of us. I will miss my Tina and Bozo. Will definitely be back to visit them all. Tina and Bozo can always come live with me!!

A fantastic beach cottage that more than lived up to expectations.
Isla Escape is everything it promised and more. We spent 4 days there and hardly left the cottage. It's right on the beach, with a perfect view of the sea. We swam with turtles, went kayaking and snorkelling. Sitting on the veranda with a sea breeze was the perfect place to while away the time catching up with family who had travelled in from different locations. We even took the dog! Ismael and Margarita who are the managers were so helpful. Would love to stay there again.
