To be clear: there are several different room types at this property and others may well justify its current 9.4 rating, however that's also shown specifically for the "Standard Queen Room" we had and it's hard to believe that's accurate.
Firstly, it's small. Tiny - enough room for the double bed and a bench with a fridge under it and microwave, kettle and tea making facilities on top. Plus, two bedside tables and one case stand. There are no other horizontal surfaces so most of our stuff lived on the floor. The bathroom is similar with virtually no space to put clothes down. It's up a flight of stairs - mentioned in the advertising but quite steep. And here's a first in a lifetime of travels - no window! Do you filter for this on the booking sites? This really should be mentioned as it could be important to some.
Enough criticism as there are many good points too. Best of all is the location, a few steps away from the middle of the main street. Hence all the shops and cafes are a short walk. German Inn right next door is good for a casual meal until late afternoon. The room was extremely clean with a wealth of toiletries and free bottles of water. The owner is extremely helpful, with plenty of sightseeing tips if you need them. Plus, our room was certainly at the cheap end of the range for Hahndorf. Consider paying more for a better room there.
If you are not claustrophobic and will be out most of the time then this room might serve as a relatively inexpensive base.
