The Red Oyster House (ROH) is just as charming as can be. The hosts have put a lot of thought into the details and have provided many amenities, both small and large. Bathrooms are well-appointed with supplies and, most importantly, lots of hooks! The kitchen is quite small and not great for cooking large, complicated meals, but it is well-equipped. We made use of the gas grill. The fire pit area (firewood provided!) is a lovely area in which to hang out at sunset. The sunroom, which runs the entire length of the house and faces the water, is spectacular! What a gorgeous setting! We also spent time on the pier, using the excellent binoculars provided. For me, the most thoughtful amenity was a shed full of sporting equipment. We made use of kayaks and the stand-up paddle board, paddling far enough to reach some back coves where we saw herons, osprey, bald eagles, and river otters. The shed has two single kayaks, one double kayak, a stand-up paddle board, and a canoe. Everyone can get out there on the calm waters of St. Clementâs Bay. (Note that there is a nice sandy beach, but the bay has jellyfish, so no swimming). On your trip, be sure to see the St. Clementâs Island Museum and take the water taxi to the lighthouse. Eat at the Morris Point Restaurant, a tiny place with good food, right on the water. The hosts thoughtfully provide information on sights to see and any local events occurring during your stay.Highly recommend ROH!
