Description

Nestled in the mountains of Anamuya, this tour offers a chance to interact and observe monkeys in their natural environment. Meanwhile you're enjoying spectacular views of the countryside.

Begin your tour entering the lovely botanical garden, where you learn about the native plants and flowers of Anamuya. The following 45 minutes is catered to a guided tour that allows you to interact in close proximity with beautiful and friendly squirrel monkeys. These lovely and intelligent mammals have been trained by a Canadian couple with 35 years of experience working with animals, including 12 years at the Toronto Zoo teaching monkeys to trust and enjoy the company of humans.

This excursion is for all ages and is based in 5 acres of a beautiful portion of land which the monkeys have made their home. These monkeys have become totally trusting to human contact. They climb down from the trees to sit on your shoulders and eat from your hands. They enjoy checking out jewellery and sunglasses too. These monkeys even love to pose for the camera and sit to watch themselves on its screen.

Continue your tour through the eastern mountain range until you reach a colourful village, where you visit a typical home to sample fresh organic coffee, cacao and tropical fruits. At the end of this utterly enjoyable and amazing tour, you have the opportunity to browse through the Monkey Land gift shop.

This is an unforgettable experience for all ages.

This was fantastic! They are interested in giving tourists an experience, as well as proving a healthy environment for the monkeys. These are well cared for, well socialized animals. A few tips; if you are a serious animal lover and want a lot of interaction, go towards the front of the line. If you are concerned about wild animals jumping on your head, and you want to see someone else experience this before you, go to the back of the line. You are allowed to have the monkeys climb on you and eat from your bowl. You are not allowed to pet them or hold them, as it should be, they are wild but trained to trust being fed by humans. You can’t bring anything but phone or camera in with you. We didn’t bring enough cash, don’t make that mistake. There is a driving team, and 2 tour guides through the monkey area. This company also works with local farmers that produce coffee and cocoa, buying something will help them continue to grow an independent economy.
