Description

Tour the mighty Hoover Dam—one of the greatest civil engineering projects in the world—and cruise Lake Mead on a Mississippi-style paddlewheeler on a combo adventure. On this day trip from Vegas, enjoy lunch on Lake Mead and get an in-depth look inside Hoover Dam with a knowledgable guide.

Get picked up from your hotel in Las Vegas and settle in for the scenic drive out to the snaking bends of the Colorado River. When you reach Hoover Dam, gaze at the 726-foot (221-m) face that stands between the Colorado River and Lake Mead. Head inside to enjoy a thorough look at hydro-powered generators that provide electricity for nearly 8 million people, examine exhibits that chronicle the dam's construction in 1931, and listen to stories from your experienced guide.

Back outside, make your way to the shores of Lake Mead to board the Desert Princess for a relaxing lunch cruise. Enjoy views of the dam from the open decks of this Mississippi-style paddlewheeler, and tuck into tasty sandwiches and salads for lunch. Snap photos of Fortification Hill's red rocks and flat top and keep your eyes peeled for colourful formations known as the Paint Pots. At the end of your cruise, catch a ride back to Vegas and your hotel in a comfortable, air-conditioned shuttle.

The Dam experience was fantastic! The river cruise was informative, though a live narration would have greatly enhanced the experience. The included lunch that was advertised as including a salad option did not. Pre made sandwiches (2options) thrown on a tray. I felt like I was in a school lunch line though I have had more pleasant experiences in a school lunch line

Lake Mead Cruise was cancelled part way through our trip due to maintenance requirements on the ship. A Lake Mead trip was offered the next day but we had other plans.
