The family and I stayed at Wilmington Beach as our daughter was participating in a summer marine program at the nearby UNC Campus in town. The house worked well for the three of us and could comfortably accommodate four people. It’s well situated towards the end of the island, with easy access to the beach. This part of the island was quiet, the tranquility interrupted by the occasional landscaping crew trimming the hedges and whatnot. The water in June was quite nice. The house has an outdoor shower to the side that makes it convenient to wash off the sand. The washer and dryer, which is in the garage, came in handy. The house itself was in good working order and was well provisioned with cookware and the like. The hosts provided plenty of beach towels and chairs, as well. The front porch gets a nice sea breeze during the day. It’s pleasant to sit outside and watch the parade of people walking, talking, biking, and carrying their surf boards to the beach. The back porch is enclosed. It makes for a good, quiet spot if you need to tend to work during your stay. Overall, we can with confidence recommend the house to a beach-loving family of three or four that values easy walking access to the shore and a tranquil stay.
