Had a great time. We loved the rec room area with large kitchen. Disappointed no swimming in the lake. The fireworks on July 4 th were unbelievable. Almost 1 hour. Will be back.
My family and I had a great stay! We had a wonderful thanksgiving lunch with family and friends. The space to preparing for the meal to cooking to enjoying our meal was more than enough room for all 18 of us. The games and area for kids to play was great. The hot tub was a big hit as well. I would highly recommend staying here to anyone! We are already discussing a stay in the summer as well!
We enjoy the stay and the neighbors were great. We did a lot of fishing we did a lot of catch and release due to the size and limit. Plenty of room for everyone and kitchen in rec hall is the best to use with large groups
Spacious mountain cabin was perfect for our growing family! There is enough isolated space to get babies down for a nap while the older children and adult could still interact! The family room, pool, hot tub and big kitchen are away from the bedroom so there was always a quiet place to go.
The cabin is well stocked! Everything we âforgotâ to pack, we found in a cabinet somewhere!
The entire wedding party and their + 1âs were comfortably able to all stay in this one location. Having the lake and fun things to do on the property was an added bonus. Property managers were great to work with.
Our family was very pleased in this property. Needs some TLC and updates to the listing (pool table, ping pong table, grills, ect..)
My contact was very prompt in getting back with me on any questions or concerns I had.
All of the kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms were fully stocked and had everything anyone would ever need.
There were plenty of pool toys and lake boats for all of us.
I highly recommend staying here and would likely book this again myself.
Thank you
This was our second year here for our church retreat. It is ideal for such a gathering. The dining hall is very well equipped to cook, serve and clean up for a large group. There is plenty of room to accommodate sleeping such a group and there are plenty of bathrooms. It is close to lots of hiking trails and close to a bowling alley for evening entertainment. We had a great time.
The house was great for our family. Unfortunately hot water was not available upon checking in - and it never did become satisfactory.
The pool was frigid- not heated as per the information
14 family, 17 months to 68 yrs thoroughly enjoyed the stay. Plenty of clean Mountain air. Great space and views. Lots of entertainment when not on the lake. The lake is wonderful. Steps to canoe, kayak and paddle boats. Great breezes and cool nights. Red room is full of entertainment. WE we rarely had tv on except for a rainy day. Comfortable home with about everything you will need. Hiking, parade, ice cream and great rodeo highlighted our stay. Highly recommend a visit
This place is huge! We had 7 families and only 2 families had to share a jack and jill bathroom, but otherwise we each had our own bathroom. There are multiple kitchens and places to relax. The kids watched a movie downstairs while the adults played games upstairs. The best was the beautiful constellations we could see at night. Some of our friends brought their ice skates and went out on the ice every day. This was a great stay to ring in the new year. Some of the furniture/sheets seem a little outdated and a few cobwebs here and there (it is a remote cabin afterall), but for the most part we had a really wonderful time!!
Our group enjoyed our time at the Westcliff Lodge very much. We had the main lodge, Rec/ Hall Dinning, and the tower.
The bedrooms are very nice and a plus is that they have a private bathroom for all rooms except for two rooms sharing a jack and jill bathroom. The quest enjoyed the rooms and the living room area on each floor were great for visiting and we enjoyed watching a video series with a lesson and one evening watching a movie.
The tower was great for the overflow, The top of the tower had amazing views of the stars enjoyed by all ages of the people attending our retreat.
Our group enjoyed the Rec/Dinning Hall. It was perfect for our group, allowing all of us to eat together. The grills that were provided made the meals a bit easier. The swimming pool and sauna were used by all ages of those attending.
The kitchen in the dinning hall had everything that we needed to cook and prepare our food. The refrigerator and freezer held all the food we brought to prepare the meals during our stay.
The only negative comment for our stay I would share is the Rec/Dining rooms were not as clean as the main Lodge. The kitchen needs a good cleaning, the stove was very dirty. We choose to do any baking in the stoves in the Main Lodge.
We did not get to use the Lake due to an algae problem. which was no fault of the Westcliff Lodge, we were looking forward to the water time on the lake.
Our family - 18 of us from 9 to 91 - had an incredible time at this lovely rustic property. From watching sunsets on the top of the tower to playing ping pong and pool in rec hall, there was no end of the fun to be had. Thank you to the owners for the great hospitality.
We enjoyed our week at this property. The stay was fun and very relaxing. We stayed in the lodge most of the time for visiting and cooking so we didnât heat the main part of the house up. Worked for us since the pool and hot tub was in the lodge. Would recommend this property to others.
This property has everything you need for everyone. Space, pool, lake, ping pong table, pool table, paddle boats, ....it is a great spot. This is our second year here . Everyone has a great time. Checking in and out is simple, communication with the host is great. Quick response and even gives you addional information you may need.
Property was reserved for families meeting up for our daughterâs wedding. The âkids,â from 7 to 20, had lots to do and also quiet spaces to read or draw. The adults were very happy with the kitchen set-up and ability to chat while keeping an eye on the younger ones in the hot tub and pool.
The owners were very kind and responsive. The only glitch was they had trouble with hot water for showers. Only has a couple minutes of hot. Someone was sent out but could not fix it. Fortunately, it was not good out and everyone enjoyed being together as they donât live in the same areas. The owners really tried to help.
I stayed here with my whole family, siblings, inlaws, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews so we had a large group of all ages and there was something for everyone. This is a beautiful location and property and close to Westcliffe which is a beautiful little town we very much enjoyed and frequented the Peregrine Coffee Roasters coffee shop which is absolutely delightful. The lodge and grounds are spacious and great for large groups. The hot tub and pool were great. It was pretty clean on the surface inside the house therefore our stay was mostly enjoyable. However the whole property and Lodge just needs some routine maintenance, it looks overgrown on the outside like it doesn't get mowed or weedeated and windows looked like they hadn't been cleaned or cobwebs cleared in a very long time. Inside there was a dire need for more towels and especially beach towels for pool and hot tub as we all flew in and couldn't bring our own. Lots of lightbulbs were out. We had planned to make pancakes one morning but changed our meal plans as the frying pans were very old and scratched and not very useable. Other dishes were good just had to be washed before use as there was evidence of mice in them. The whole place just needs a good deep clean. One of the bedrooms had a strong puke smell and we didn't discover till the last day while stripping the beds that there was puke on the inside of the blanket. One of the bathtubs had hair and bugs in it. A few of the bathrooms doors didn't lock. The ad was very unclear about the sleeping space in the house, it only lists the beds in the bedrooms and completely omits the couches, pullout sofas and mattresses in the loft, and some of the sleeping space is in the game room/conference hall. There is also a huge lack of pictures so there was no way of knowing what the main areas looked like or what sleeping arrangements would be like. It is a very very rustic place but that's not a bad thing if you like that style.
Normally I would not nitpick at a few little things cuz it's not a big deal but there were just too many things that were neglected.
Again it is a great place and I don't regret staying there but I need to review it honestly and hopefully some maintenance can be done soon. Sincerely, Maria
Overall, this was a wonderful way to spend our 50th anniversary. Beautiful house. So much room, and the best part was the rec hall where all 25 of us (11 months to 72) could be together. Fantastic kitchen. Our only problem was the pool was super cold and we couldn't turn it up (broken switch?) I am in contact with the owner about that.
Everyone also loved being by the lake. We also rented the tower, and that was a big hit with the kids.
Hope we can do this again sometime.
Dirty, communication was difficult. A one star location.
CLEANLINESS. -unit was NOT cleaned, came into a severely dirty unit. First the smell is overwhelming. Property is a mess from kitchen to bedrooms to out buildings.
KITCHEN -oven was filthy, pots and pans were thrown in the cabinet, -mouse droppings in cabinets,a serious health hazard. GRILL was not cleaned-TRASH was not removed from deck just off kitchen. Very difficult to get into dumpster located in front yard. Dishes in the kitchen were dirty when we arrived. Cupboards were completely unorganized and pots and pans were literally thrown in the cabinets, kitchen floors were filthy and had to clean kitchen prior to use. There were roaches, bugs inside dishes. NO dish soap, dirty kitchen sponge, and one kitchen towel that looked used.
FAMILY ROOM had extra couches stores theatre style , looked like carpets had not vacuumed or recently cleaned. LOWER LEVEL carpets had visible dirt, sheets were questionable. OUT BUILDINGS were full of spiders when walking through you could feel the webs across your face. GENERAL *we, as guests did the work of cleaning the unit. Not what we came to do.
BEDROOMS, master bed had questionable hair and one bedroom had big throw up smells. Sheets seemed not changed.
BASEMENT Mold smells, mouse droppings, dirty toilets. Filthy carpet
DISREPAIR in most had deferred maintenance. Like, dishwasher did not work. The filter was FULL of food, pasta and junk that we never ate. We cleaned the filter, (why did we have to clean the filter) and the unit still did not work. We ended up hand washing our dishes, this not ok. Dishwasher leaking under the flooring. Mold possible HOT TUB was overfilled and looked like the water had not been changed. Visible mold is everywhere around the base of the unit
POOL-unusable Cold, Cold. like below 60 degrees, It is also leaking severely under the pool safety issue . Mold is visible. We were hoping to use the pool.
LAKE -Deweese lake has so much potential but we were alarmed when we saw the flashing sign of T OXIC ALGAE, NO H UMAN OR PET CONTACTâ this was a health concern
in this VRBO back yard, which was a reason we picked this location is because of the lake.
SECURITY of the property was an issue as there are many doors that lead outside and alarming, one was unlocked when we arrived. Checked for squatters.
DOCUMENTED WITH PHOTOS.
The property was great, views and access to the lake very nice. The pool and hot tub added to the fun. Room for everyone and many things to do and explore.
Very nice, plenty of space for our family reunion. Some showers didn't work. Beautiful lake, but we couldn't use it at all because of toxic algae, and the boating equipment was broken or unusable.
