We had a wonderful stay here and would absolutely come back again. Great location, walkable to/from the Clipper and downtown, shops, restaurants, etc. Quiet and safe neighborhood, beautiful property with a garden, plants, and the apartment had everything we could need...a full kitchen, private patio, comfy living area, standard bathroom, and cozy king sized bed. It was the perfect place to rest in the afternoon and come home to after a long day of exploring.

My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property! The property is located in a prime location in walking distance to amazing restaurants and downtown. The host left us a delicious welcome gift of homemade brownies. A couple other notable perks of the property were the very comfortable and luxurious king sized bed, the luxurious bath robes, real coffee creamer for the coffee and the cute dogs sometimes hanging out in the back garden!

Was in town for a soccer tournament and stayed at this cute little retreat. Easy check in and checkout. Great little neighborhood close to town. Nice place with a great garden area. Would stay here again if we are ever back in Victoria.

My husband and I stayed here with our little dog over Christmas. It truly is a small jewel of a property. It’s in a great location in James Bay, just a couple of blocks behind the Parliament buildings and walkable to everything in downtown Victoria. Being in this area over the holidays was magical. The unit is small but cozy and very well laid out. There is a lovely little garden and sitting area in the back, which was nice to look out on, but would be great in the summer. The host, Dianne, lives in the main house on the property, and she is readily available for any questions, but not intrusive. The house is very well stocked, with everything you might need, including a selection of teas and coffee, instant oatmeal, milk pods in the fridge, and even homemade brownies. The king sized bed was very comfortable. We appreciated that it was dog friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend It to anyone looking for a lovely apartment in a great location.

Thank you Diane for a wonderful stay! We were very comfortable and relaxed here. Diane made us feel so welcome, including our dog Rosie. We were welcomed with a holiday poinsettia arrangement and fresh brownies.Some things that we especially appreciated - stand alone cottage, meaning there were no people above whose voices or footsteps could be heard, the unit was brightly lit thanks to two skylights and large windows in the living area which was especially appreciated on cloudy days, the back patio is very private with lovely trees, pots and furniture making for a nice view out the patio door, the kitchen is small but very well stocked, the bed was extremely comfortable, several real plants made it feel more like home, coffee, tea, oatmeal packets and some other helpful pantry staples were provided and you can’t beat the location in James Bay! A few things to remember: there is no door to separate the bedroom from the living space, the primary entrance to the unit is into the bedroom. These can be noted from the photos. There are other units for rent in the main house meaning there could be other people outside in the main part of the back yard. None of these things detracted from our positive experience but just a reminder so you are not surprised. Thanks again Diane, we hope to return.

The unit was separate from others, well stocked, clean, close to waterfront and shopping. Stayed for two weeks. Traveling with handicapped husband. The unit offer no stairs, walk in shower, which were necessary for our needs. Happy with overall performance

We absolutely loved the location of this property in terms of the James Bay neighborhood and proximity to downtown. It was very walkable and convenient to leave the car behind. There were some unexpected issues. The property does disclose there are dogs at the host's house (which this cottage is in the backyard of), but we didn't expect them to in the yard of the cottage, waiting outside our door, or barking for lengths of time outside the cottage. Also, the property was described as private, yet there were many different people visiting in the gated backyard where the cottage is. We could hear people talking and often saw them on our way in or out or out of the kitchen window so we left the shades closed the whole time. Lastly, there is a problem with black mold inside this cottage. It's heavily present on the washing machine ring, is covering areas of the main doors, and is in the window seams. We experienced allergy response during this time and would have left if it wasn't cost prohibitive for us to find another place. We stay at a lot of vacation rentals and never experienced black mold. The place seemed clean other than that. The good news is that the bed was incredibly comfortable and the bedding cozy. If it were more private and didn't have mold, it would have been perfect.

Diane's private garden retreat is in a great location. The one bedroom cottage has all the necessary amenities needed to cook and enjoy a delicious meal using local ingredients purchased at a nearby grocer. The private patio is super! And, always important, the bed was very comfy.

Property is in great neighborhood. Close proximity to downtown Victoria and Beacon Hill park. Very walkable. Host was very nice and left us brownies. Property was less private than we anticipated. In order to access the guest house, we had to go through the host’s shared backyard and the guest house was basically in the backyard. The clothes washer was also moldy, which gave the place a bit of a musty odor.

Clean, quiet, 5 minutes on bike from the ferry dock. Lots of space for 2 including a lovely private patio we weren't expecting. Well stocked with coffee and other necessities. Host was as nice as anyone could possibly ever be in letting us store bikes/bags while we were out and about. As it turned out too, staying with Dianne and her house full of adventurers was also exactly right for providing us some advice, inspiration and wisdom during some big work/life changes. Which made this an amazing restorative getaway. We'll be back for sure!

Diane has a unique residence/B&B. My husband and I throughly enjoyed being so close to historic Victoria. We were able to walk to both the tourist center as well as the neighborhood attractions like restaurants, parks and local coffeehouses and art galleries. One of the best parts for us is being able to pick up local seafood and cook it in our Garden Retreat! We are looking forward for a return trip.

Location, location, location! This wonderful little property was 1 1/2 blocks from the Parliament Buildings. There was easy access to everything downtown and waterfront. It was quiet, elegant, and comfortable. Diane was right on site, and available for questions. Off street parking was available. The kitchen was well-equipped, and the private garden was wonderful! We cannot speak highly enough of this property.
