Day five walking solo along Hadrian's Wall took me along the most well preserved sections and some of the most dramatic landscapes I've yet to encounter. Ending at Steel Rigg, I look back at the crags and lochs and feel a divine presence and energy that uplifts my soul in the deepest of ways.

Lovely quite place to stay
This is a lovely quiet place to stay, away from any disturbances. The welcome homemade lemon drizzle cake was very welcome and a nice touch. Beautiful scenery during the day and very dark skies at night for stargazing

Of Wilfrid's Benedictine abbey, which was constructed almost entirely of material salvaged from nearby Roman ruins.
