Canary Cottage: Pet and Family friendly

We invite you to escape to the tranquility of Canary Cottage, a beautifully renovated fishing cottage just a block from the water`s edge. Immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Buckeye Lake and enjoy all the modern amenities this charming cottage has to offer.

Relax in the hot tub on the front deck while taking in the stunning views of the lake. Gather around the fire table on the patio for cozy evenings under the stars. Inside, you`ll find a newly renovated kitchen with all the essentials, a spacious dining area, and a comfortable living room with a large ROKU TV for movie nights. The first floor also features a luxurious bathroom with a walk-in shower and soaking tub, perfect for indulging in some self-care.

Upstairs, you`ll find three inviting bedrooms, each with a comfortable memory foam mattress and a ROKU TV. Wake up to the peaceful sounds of the lake and start your day with a cup of coffee on the balcony overlooking the water.

Canary Cottage is located just a short walk from Papa Boos, a favorite local spot for waterfront dining and live music. With limited parking space on the property, we recommend a four-wheel drive or all-wheel drive vehicle during snowy or icy conditions. Our property is also equipped with exterior security cameras for your peace of mind.

We strive to make your stay at Canary Cottage a memorable one, and are always just a call, text, or message away. Book now and experience the perfect lakeside getaway with your loved ones. Pets are welcome for an additional fee.

We do not allow outside guests, other than those on the reservation, on the property without prior approval from us.

Canary Cottage is something to chirp about

Great experience. Proximity to Buckeye Lake was overestimated. Only way it could take 6 minutes is if I crawled home from Boo's. Would certainly rent the place again, and bring Mom, Dad, and dog with me!

Needs Maintenance

You can tell this property was once nice, but it is in desperate need of maintenance. The hot tub lid was ripped, there was trash sitting around outside, the outdoor furniture was unusable, broken and moldy. The hot tub had clearly not been cleaned, there was a lot of dirt and debris at the bottom, we did not get in. The inside was pretty clean but it needs a deep clean. The window seals have not been cleaned in years a thick layer of dust and dirt were caked on. The stairs were covered in dog hair and dirt, especially the white edge going up. I did not feel comfortable not wearing shoes inside. comforters all needed washed, sheets were clean but good thing we brought our own blankets because there was not even a top sheet on the master bed. The water smells really bad, I get its near a lake but I think the well needs shocked. There were some positives, our kids loved the train table and the toys. The back yard was nice, we spent a lot of our time in the back. It was within walking distance to a few restaurants. You definitely can't see the lake from this home, like advertised. Expensive for what you get.

Disappointing Stay

My family and I arrived to a mess. There were dead bugs, horrible smells, animal urine, feces, unclean items, and areas. We spent two days cleaning just to feel comfortable in the space. It was that bad. We were thankful to have a laundry room to help with dirty bedding and towels. I would not return to this rental. This house is in dire need of a deep clean, replacement of items, and a remodel.

Spacious home in a convenient location

Spacious home on a relatively private neighborhood lot. All the basic amenities were included. Smart TVs in all the bedrooms and living room. A comfortable home for a family stay, and our family includes our 3 small dogs.The host was accommodating of our furry friends, only a modest pet fee was added. Nice outdoor space with a large yard on one side of the home, and a deck with hot tub plus parking on the other. The property is near, but not on the lake. But you can see it from the driveway. Overall, a great value for the price!

Family Vacation To Buckeye Lake

All in all we really enjoyed our time at this VRBO. The hot tub was great and you can tell well cared for - we used it multiple times a day during our trip. The hands-down best part was the amenities for children. The train table, highchair, crib and baby gate made the stay very family-friendly.

Family weekend trip

We booked this house for a weekend family trip. We traveled into Columbus each day for Quarter Horse Congress, and the house was very convenient to the interstate. We stopped each morning at the Buckeye Lake Coffee Company on the way to Columbus, and enjoyed their seasonal drinks. The location was quiet and within a short distance to shopping and restaurants. The communication with the host was great and it was a very easy check in and check out process. The house was clean and had everything we needed. We didn't get a chance to try out the hot tub on this trip. We did really appreciate the welcome basket! There was only one bathroom downstairs and as others have stated, the staircase is very narrow - so my grandmother slept in the living room on the lower level. There was plenty of space for just the four of us. We were happy to have found this rental and hope this community continues to allow rentals in the future.

Good location, not great for tall people.

Good location. Close proximity to the lake and Papa Boo’s. Kids loved the hot tub. Plenty of room for all of us (4 adults and 3 kids). If you’re tall, though, this may not be the house for you. I’m 6’7” and couldn’t stand up straight in the kitchen. Hit my head on low beams a couple times. One other member of our party is 6’5” and the the low beams got him a couple times as well. Just be aware that you’ll need to consistently duck your head in the kitchen area if you’re 6’4”+.

Everything about the property was very nice. We had considered taking my 80 year old parents with us and am very glad we didn’t. All 3 bedrooms are up a very narrow staircase and the only bathroom is on the first floor off the kitchen at back of house. It was ok for us, although inconvenient. Everything else about the house was fine.

Great Trip

The home was exactly what we needed. I was traveling with my baby and there were all the amenities I needed for him. The only issue is the upstairs was a hot but in an older home that can happen. We will be returning for future visits!
