"Close Call" - Oceanfront Home, 4 Bedrooms / 3 Bathrooms

Bring the dog with you!! PET FRIENDLY!! "Close Call" is a charming and unique oceanfront retreat offering 4 bedrooms, 3 baths and breathtaking views of the sparkling Atlantic ocean! Relax and unwind as you watch the waves of the ocean roll in, while rocking away the day on the covered porch. The private beach boardwalk is just steps away from the warm sand and gentle ocean breezes. After your day on the beach, rinse away the sand in the enclosed outdoor shower, complete with hot and cold water. Prepare home-cooked meals and gather together in the family-style kitchen with room for everyone around the table. With a king bed in both the first and second bedrooms, a queen bed and a single bed in both the third and fourth bedrooms, and a sofa bed (linens not provided for sofa bed), there will be enough room for the whole gang! This cozy retreat comes complete with a dishwasher, washer/dryer, icemaker, free Wi-Fi, parking underneath the house, and much more! Please note that bedroom TVs are not connected for cable viewing, they are for use with the provided DVD players.

Pet Friendly: $250 Non-refundable pet fee is required and is limited to a single dog up to 50 pounds. An additional dog(s) may be allowed provided that they are pre-approved by PROACTIVE Vacations. Additional Fees will apply for more than one dog. Guests must crate pets when they are left in the home unattended.

Too expensive for condition of house

Roach, spider, ant invested, needed fumigation. Bath rooms clean, baseboards, etc looked like they had not been clean in years, we cleaned front windows and doors so we could see out . TV’s need to be updated, you can’t stay on beach all the time, would not stay here again .

Great beach. Dated house.

Fabulous beach. House has much deferred maintenance. Large fridge worked well including ice maker. Stove is old and scary with marginally functioning oven. Pots ok but only one small and one medium pan. Plenty of coffee mugs, plates, and bowls. Set of large glasses and a few wineglasses. No bar glasses. Minimal counter space and minimal cabinet space for food storage. New stair treads but majority of porches, handrails and boardwalk are deteriorating with splinters and popped up nailheads. Bathrooms clean and functional but not vented. Only one double hook in each-no other hooks or towel racks.

expected better for the price

The number of rooms was accurate. Under the home there is a good outside shower and the concrete pad was convenient for our motorcycles. The furniture in the home was decent. Kitchen had working appliances and a big table with good seating. Advice for kitchen, clean from top to bottom (cabinets, light above sink) before renting again. Bathrooms were filthy (jack-n-jill bath had accumulated soap scum) and it appeared the floor corners and under the beds had not been swept for weeks, dust bunnies covered a gummy bear, old business card and candy wrapper when I reached to get an earring that had dropped and rolled. Ants surrounded the back door and wall, but a maintenance person was sent the next day. My advice, if the decor isnt going to be dusted, take it out - there was thick furry dust accumulated on fake plants and lighting. Was disappointed with the cleanliness of the, considering the recent COVID epidemic.

Close Call

The location is fabulous and the upgrades to the front deck and stairs are a plus. The new LVP floors helped with sweeping up the sand better and the water pressure was excellent. The kitchen is in definite need of a renovation because the cabinets are falling apart and the stove is a hazard. The stove is so old that the electric stove top grates were not completely plugged in, covered in foil, and bent which made cooking more difficult and worrisome for safety hazards with turning the stove top areas on and off. The oven is very small and the kitchen utensils were dull and not organized. There was not much room for our personal food because the pantry was locked. The back deck is in need of repair to avoid splinters. We enjoyed our stay, but felt the need to contact the rental company several times to avoid responsibility for the clogged washing machine hose, the dryer struggling to dry, the front bedroom window leaking and the cabinet door coming apart. The rental company was very responsive, but not what we want to be dealing with during our vacation. We understand the wear and tear on a beach home, but if amenities are advertised, they must be in working condition.

Close Call

"Close Call" 's excellent location and ample room accommodated our family Christmas vacation very well. Beach access was a very valuable perk. However, there were a few things that brought the overall rating down. 1. Having to buy bath towels, dish towels, paper towels, was a hassle prior to our stay. We traveled across the country to get to this stay, with little expense the owner/manager could have provided, with minor expense to them, these essentials, and would have eased stress of their guest's settlement.It should be noted that this requirement was not listed in the property description and was not expressed to us until days before our flight. 2. Overall condition of the house demonstrated a neglect of some easy repairs and renovations that are overdue: a. Kitchen utility drawer, with all necessary cooking, serving and eating utensils is broken and only opens half way. b. toilet seats were loose and hazardous. c. One of the kitchen chairs has a very wobbly leg, needing repair. d. Pots and pans are old, warn, and unhealthy. e. Underbedding, pillows were soiled and in need of replacement. f. The living swivel chair is very very unsteady and feels like a roller coaster ride. g. Windows do not open. For winter stays, when air conditioning is not necessary, air flow is impossible without leaving the door open. It also would have also been nice to hear the waves crashing at night. 3. Finally, and by no fault of the owners, we were under an audio siege during our entire stay. The neighbor's renovation was load and disrespectful. No problem with saws and mechanized equipment, it was their "Music". From 7am- 4pm their awful metallic, with explicit lyrics, raged. Their audio pollution's volume level stressed their speakers to distortion. The beach was inviting on its own, but was also a refuge from this offensive sound bombardment.

Wonderful set up

The house is set up beautifully. Bedrooms and bathrooms spread out. Could use some updating with the walkway to the ocean. Several loose boards and rough handrails but all in all a great location

Beach Trip

The pictures on the post do not show that the left view on the back porch which is obstructed by an old house that sits too far or either this one sits to far back. You can't see the beach to the left at all. The right side view is somewhat better, but this house sits too close to the road as compared to the houses on either side. TV in the living room is nice and works well. The TVs in the bedrooms are not hooked up to the cable in the living room. This needs to be updated. They have updated the kitchen table and it is much nicer than the one in the pictures.

Good Beach House

The house was nice and located right on the beach. However, the windows along the beach side can not be open. The same windows also leaked rain water during a heavy downpour. Overall, the house was nice but we would find a new place to rent when we go back again.

Close Call Cottage

We had a nice stay in this cute little house right on the Beach. It is in need of some updates (as others have mentioned), but it was clean and convenient. Renters should know that it is located right beside an access walk for others (presumably renters across the street), though, so it is a bit "busier" than anticipated. Overall, it was pleasant and enjoyable.

Lovely week at the beach

This was a great house for two families with young children. The layout with 2 bedrooms on each side of the house worked well, and having 3 bathrooms plus the outdoor shower made it easy for everyone to get cleaned up after the beach. I mean, if you are looking for something really fancy and pristine, this may not be the house for you, but if you have an active family that is going to spend most of the time at the beach anyway, then this is a great option.

Clean and perfect location but dated

The good: We had a wonderful stay. Property as described and could not be closer to beach. Very clean and very comfortable beds! Lots of parking - easily 7-8 spaces under house and on driveway. Very private at end of April. No close public parking so only people on beach are residents or renters. Porch with rockers was delightful. And dog friendly!! Fresh paint and new floors. General store for necessary groceries and sundries, swim attire and ice cream shop ~6 blocks up the beach. We enjoyed but will look for more updated place and modern appliances next time. Full disclosure: Functional but dated appliances - might be 15+ years old. No Keurig but has ground coffee pot. Great WiFi but TVs are old with no streaming capability. VHS player ate the one tape there. Bed linens provided but nothing else. Not a single condiment or other pantry item. No TP or paper products. No towels or kitchen cloths. No hand soap. Bring what you need. Also, windows don’t open but AC was good. Dining “table” is a large kitchen island that is very short surrounded by kid size chairs. Not a good place for large family dinners. We were fine on the couch. One complaint: the mater lock holding key is very hard to open. Had to watch you-tube videos to make sure I was doing it right. Broke my nails. Took me 45 min at 8 pm on Fri night. I called emergency maintenance - no one answered nor ever returned call/message to see if I got in ok.
