Old world charm

Publié le 16 oct. 2013
Les + : It's very laid back feel, like being transported back to the 50's Simon the cat
Situation : Stockbridge is a delightful little town We visited the Norman Rockwell museum which is a must if you are in the area Also Naumkeag house and garden
The Red Lion Inn dominates the high street in Stockbridge, so you can't miss it! We actually stayed in one of their guest houses down the street and had a beautifully appointed bedroom and bathroom. There was a communal lounge and kitchen where you could prepare breakfast if you wanted. There were plenty of places in Stockbridge to have breakfast We didn't actually eat at the hotel but did have a pre dinner drink in front of the roaring fire in the lobby

Weekend Trip Close to Home

Publié le 7 oct. 2013
Les + : Quaint country location, nice rooms, nice front porch overlooking main street.
Les - : Maybe additional staff would make the guest experience more positive. Some of the staff seemed overworked with little time for guest interaction.
Situation : Very nice location, close to home. We visited the Hancock Shaker Village which was only about 15 minutes away.
Wife and I booked a room at the hotel for an anniversary weekend. We stayed in one of the guest houses about a block away from the main hotel. Overall It was a nice getaway 2 hours from home. However, we were a little disappointed with the inconsistency of the service from the staff. While most were very pleasant and helpful, the bartender on duty both nights we were there never smiled and seemed to be overworked, he barely said two words to anyone. The earliest dinner reservation we could get for Saturday night was 8:00 pm. Even so we had to wait about 15 minutes for our table to be ready. The hostess was very professional but not very friendly or welcoming. Lighten up people, for the sake of your guests at least pretend to be enjoying your job. There is a large front porch at the hotel which overlooks the main street. There are several comfortable chairs and couches where guests could relax and people watch. There was a waiter who took drink orders and served guests on the porch. He could have used help as every seat was occupied and he was was working so hard he was sweating. It took a little while before he took your order and even longer to serve your drinks.

Red Lion Inn Disappointing experience

Publié le 9 sept. 2013
Les + : The antiquity...is about it!
Les - : All the above listed in 'experience'!
Situation : Perfect for touring Norman Rockwell and Chesterwood Gardens.
No complimentary coffee stations in hotel...no menus in room...no layout of hotel in room...no spa at hotel...I want to be pampered when I spend this kind of $/nite...I received MORE amenities @ the Hilton Garden @ Pittsford NY for $129/nite than the Lion could ever offer! Also part of our breakfast meal s/have been deducted from our bill and wasn't. Thought desk reception personnel c/have offered more information, rather than having to be asked so many ?'s. Very disappointed 2

Best hotel in the Birkshires

Publié le 24 août 2013
Les + : Its history.
Les - : Nothing. It was simply wonderful !!!
Situation : We had dinner at a little Bistro a few meters down the road. It is called "Once upon a table" and it was great. I highly recommend it.
T Our experience was excellent from start to finish. The check-in was friendly and efficient. The room was clean and neat (look out for the tilted floors in the lobby and 4th floor). Lunch and breakfast at the restaurant was superb. Make sure you taste their Apple pancakes.

What a lovely stay

Publié le 13 août 2013
Les + : the decor, the comfy beds, the food, the attentive staff
Les - : there was a bit of a back up a check out time. Offer complimentary coffee and tea throughout the day in the lobby or Tavern
Situation : Beautiful scenic views. Tanglewood for BSO concert. Hiking at Pleasant Valley Wildlife Sanctuary, Shopping in Lenox - so many quaint shops.
My son and I were out in the Berkshires to go to a Tanglewood Concert and the only place we could find with a vacancy was the Red Lion Inn. What a gem. We loved it from the moment we drove up. The hotel front porch was beautifully decorated with hanging flowers and rocking chairs. A lovely place to sit with a glass of wine, read and chat. Our room was so homey and comfortable. We shared a bath but never had to wait to use it. It was kept very clean. We had dinner in the main dining room at 9 pm. Our waiter was so attentive and helpful with wine pairings and the food was delicious. My son spent some time in the pool and though the hot tub was great! I cannot wait to come back again next year!

Charming historical hotel

Publié le 5 mai 2013
Les + : The charm and history of the hotel was the most appealing part. The random distribution of antiques in the hallway on eveyr floor was very enjoyable.
Situation : There are some nice little shops in Stockbridge, plus the Norman Rockwell museum is not far away. There is a lot of local theatre in the summer.
This is a beautiful historic hotel and we wish we were staying more than one night. We were fortunate to have a corner roomthat included a sitting area and many windows. Every room is furnished differently, each full of antiques. The room was very clean and the beds very comfortable. The room had an old world appeal to it, although the bathroom was modern. Staff were very helpful and friendly and the overall atmosphere of the hotel is very relaxing. The environment itself is rich with history and fun to explore. The building is old so it has its share of warped floors and a few cracks, but that only added to the charm. There is nothing more relaxing than sitting by the fire in the main lobby or out on the huge front porch on a rocking chair on a warm spring evening. Stockbridge is a very small town, but within the hotel, there is the option to sit in common areas and relax, or eat or drink within one of three establishments within the hotel itself. We would love to stay there again.

Romantic get away

Publié le 10 janv. 2013
Very romantic setting. We go back very year and just after the holidays is the best time of year - rates are lower and there is still lots to do in the Berkshires.
