Lassen A-Frame Cabin w/ Hot Tub
Summary: Immerse yourself in this A-Frame home surrounded by the tall pines of the forest. Thumper A-Frame at Mount Lassen is your next stop to experience tranquility and fresh mountain air. This two-bedroom home also with a spacious loft/office is perfect for your next visit to the Lassen Volcanic National Park or any of the beautiful lakes, waterfalls, or hiking in this area. We are excited for you to experience what it is like to live in a unique A-Frame home, nestled in the massive pine trees.
The Space: There are plenty of places to sleep in this two bedroom and Loft: one upstairs loft (queen), one bedroom on the main level (two twin beds), one bedroom downstairs (queen bed), a daybed with trundle in the downstairs living room (two twin beds), and extra bedding for someone to sleep downstairs on the couch (not a pull-out couch). The loft/office has a beautiful view of the floor-to-ceiling windows looking out at the tall pine trees. You will love the sight of the beautiful light streaming through the trees in the morning. Both bathrooms have a tub/shower combo, blow dryer, plenty of towels, a pedestal sink or vanity, and storage. There are two large living areas and one dining table for you to enjoy during your stay. The fully stocked kitchen makes it easy to cook meals and the local coffee will help you feel right at home. The space has been designed to make you feel like you are in a mountain lodge while also highlighting the stunning architectural features of the home.
LASSEN LOCATION The home is only twenty minutes from Mount Lassen National Park and forty minutes from Burney Falls. There is plenty of hiking, camping, fishing, hunting, and lakes to explore nearby. Shingletown is a quiet town with a small food market, pizza store, and thrift/antique stores. You are also close to Redding (a 30-minute drive) where you have access to a larger city with more options for food, shopping, Sacramento river, and Turtle Bay.
LIVING & DINING AREA Our living room is just the place to relax after days of exploring the wild beauty of the region. You’ll find lots of natural light in here – and woodsy decor rooted in a rich mountain lodge feel. Curl up on the sofa for a movie, share stories, or play games and laugh. Other touches include the art of the Smokey the Bear and mother nature.
The dining area is open to the kitchen, making it effortless to interact between the two. Rustic mixed with chic sets a playful adventurous mood. Enjoy home-cooked meals at our wood table, which seats 7-8 guests. After dinner, settle in for a family game night with cards and board games, or have a soak in the hot tub before bed.
KITCHEN Our kitchen invites you to hang out and cook together, just like at home. It is convenient and bright, with sunlight streaming into the windows during the day. You’ll have all the appliances, cookware, and dishware you will need.
We also provide cooking spices and a coffee & tea station which includes a coffee pot, french press, coffee grinder, electric kettle, creamer, sugar, tea bags, and coffee beans from the local Northbound Coffee Roasters.
2 BEDROOMS & Loft This two-bedroom home with a loft is sure to impress: one upstairs bed in the loft (queen), one bedroom on the main level (two twin beds), one bedroom downstairs (queen bed), a daybed with trundle in the downstairs living room (two twin beds), and extra bedding for someone to sleep downstairs on the couch (not a pull-out couch). This house easily sleeps nine people comfortably. It's perfect for a post-adventure nap or a good night’s sleep. There are windows in every room and nature/wildlife artwork plus bedside tables with lamps, several pillows, and comfortable plush bedding. The bathrooms have a tub/shower combo.
FULL BATHROOMS The bathrooms have plenty of space and amenities for everyone. The shower/tub combo is perfect for taking a bubble bath or bathing children. To make your stay even more comfortable, we provide these amenities: shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap, lotion, cotton swabs, and balls.

Guest Access: WELCOME GUIDEBOOK A few days before your stay, you will receive an email that includes a link to our welcome guidebook. It contains all the house information you’ll need, as well as recommendations for dining, activities and adventures. In addition, a printed version will be in the house during your stay.
CHECK-IN & CHECK-OUT Check-in is after 4:00 pm and check-out is by 10:00 am.
The house is located easily off Highway 44 in the community of Shasta Forest Village. You will have private access to the Thumper A-Frame at Mount Lassen and all amenities during your stay. You can access our home at any time with our secure, keyless entry.
PARKING & SNOW REMOVAL There is a large parking area for four vehicles off the street, in front of the house. It is easy to get into the house where you can park really close to the entrance. During a heavy snow season, it’s possible the driveway will not be plowed all the way to the house, but a shoveled walkway will be made to access the front door. Guests are asked to park in the driveway and to stay off the street to ensure our streets can be plowed, especially when snow is expected to fall. Residents/Guests are asked to stay informed about forecasts of snow accumulations and to plan accordingly.
The Neighborhood: The Shasta Forest Village community is right off Highway 44 and easy to get to from Shingletown. The community is very quiet and you are located just around the corner from downtown Shingletown.
Getting Around: It is easiest to get around by car. There is no local transportation.
Other Things to Note: Wi-Fi & CELL SERVICE This house is located in an area with limited cell and WiFi service. We do offer WiFi, but it is recommended that guests use the WiFi for browsing activities only during their stay. With limited cell service, it is recommended that you drive 5 minutes into Shingletown near Reeds for important calls.
PETS We’re happy to host your furry friends. We can accept up to two dogs or cats for a nominal fee. All pets must be house-trained. We ask that they not lounge on furniture without the protection of a towel or blanket. With regular sightings of bears on our property, it is recommended to keep animals on a leash, especially at night, to ensure you can move away from a bear and back into the house safely.
FIREPLACES & FIRES Outdoor: We have an outdoor fire pit. We allow open fires but ask that you use the hose to put the fire all the way out. Thoroughly douse the fire with large amounts of water and ensure it is no longer smoldering. In the summer months, fires may not be allowed due to the high wildfire risk. We will let you know if it is not allowed.
Indoor: The indoor gas fireplace is nice to use in the winter. Remember, heat rises so the upstairs gets really hot really fast. We do provide heaters upstairs when needed, but with the design of the house and the fact that heat rises, you rarely need them. There are windows to release hot air if necessary.
BBQ: We have a large BBQ for your use and we hope you can make some delicious meals during your stay. We ask that you turn off the grill and then turn the propane gas tank all the way off. Once the grill is cooled, then cover it back up with the outdoor cover.
QUIET HOURS Thank you for observing our quiet hours between 10:00 pm and 7:00 am. This ensures the peace of the neighborhood and our standing as courteous neighbors.
TRASH DAY As our trash day is on Tuesdays: an employee may come to the house on Monday evenings to roll our outside trash bins to the street. The bins are then returned near the front porch on Tuesdays. One less thing for you to worry about!
GUEST LIMIT The home can accommodate up to nine guests total. To minimize wear and tear on our home, unregistered guests are not allowed.
SMOKING To keep our home fresh and clean for everyone, smoking is not permitted inside. If smoke is detected, a $300 fee will be applied to your reservation. You can, however, smoke outside (please close all doors and windows).
