The host charges a substantial security deposit and withheld some of ours because she alleged we had broken the door off the microwave. Expedia/VRBO will not approve a review that mentions dollar amounts, so I will just say the amount she withheld was well above what we paid recently to get a new microwave.
We did not break the microwave door. The host did not contact us to ask any questions, she just kept the money. When we contacted her to dispute the charge, she refused to give any of the money back. VRBO refunded us the full amount after we provided a screenshot of a review from another guest ~2 months prior to our stay documenting the microwave door was already broken as well as screenshots from videos taken during our stay showing the door handle was intact.
Otherwise, I agree with recent reviews expressing surprise about the high average review score. The unit is run-down. Issues include a lot of mold in the bathroom skylight, peeling paint, broken furniture, partially broken appliances, worn carpet, stained towels and furniture, etc. Surface cleaning was pretty good, but the unit could use a deep cleaning. The oven was very dirty with lots of food debris.
The beds are comfortable. The location is great for access to Seattle Center Park. There is a lot of traffic noise and window coverings let in a lot of light - bring ear plugs and a sleep mask.
