We had a great visit. Plenty of zones to enjoy the weather or relax in the cool living areas. Firepit was a big hit. Kitchen has modern appliances. The long dining room table became jigsaw puzzle area to lure kids from screens. Beach is clean with white sand and gradual entrance for the kids. Lovely walkable town. Host was accessable and responsive.

Second summer renting

We enjoyed our stay so much last year we returned, only to find some upgrades!!! The garage was turned into a summer kitchen\entertainment area, the deck was enlarged and new furniture added. We love the layout that allows everyone their own space when needed. it’s central location permits easy access to downtown, nearby towns and events as well as quick access to Port Elgin’s incredible beach. The owners are quick to answer any texts and contacted us early on our stay to see if we needed anything, inquired about comfort and if we had any requests or recommendations. We couldn’t ask for better hosts. Already planning next year’s stay!!!

Despite an unexpected issue with the air conditioning during our stay, we were very impressed with how the owner handled the situation. We had a wonderful time. The cottage was clean and neighborhood was quiet. Nice to be fairly close to the beach and the downtown. My only complaint was the bbq was disgusting. Who ever was there before our visit left it a mess. But overall was a great week 😀

Relaxing getaway

Enjoyed the cottage very much! Teenage kids loved being close to town to go for walks and having their independence. Beach was a short drive, loved the sandy entrance for the water, no rocks. Cottage had lots of space, fit 8 comfortably. Loved the outdoor space, spent a lot of time on the deck. Thank you for a wonderful week, we hope to be back next year. Thanks Darlene

House is large , easily accommodates 10 family members. Kitchen is well equipped (fridge, stove, microwave, Keurig coffee maker …. Etc.). Place does need a good cleaning and new furniture (some of which are falling apart). Shower curtain was an abomination… needed to be replaced. Large backyard and beautiful patio with gas barbecue. Good location , close to town and beach (walking distance)

Wonderful spacious home!

We stayed at this home with a variety of age ranges from baby - adult. This home was very spacious and allowed for everyone to have their own space and were not crowded. The home was very clean and had so many basic amenities which was very helpful! The kitchen was well stocked with everything you need. We appreciated the individual AC units in the rooms so everyone could set their own temperatures. Only about a 10 minute walk from the main beach which was very convenient. Large backyard for our family to enjoy the sunshine, BBQ and have a fire. We really enjoyed our time here! :)

Better than expected in several aspects

We stayed in this home last week and loved many aspects. Clean! Excellent Air Cond, Wi-Fi, Netflix, Amazon Prime Large bedrooms and huge upstairs bathroom Well stocked kitchen. Fabulous deck with nice furniture, huge umbrella, new BBQ Perfect for families. Huge fenced yard. Quiet, residential neighborhood (unlike the cottage areas that are nearer the beach) OK, Yes, the downstairs 1/2 bath is small but big enough for most folks. We used it often. Yes, a 10 minute walk to the beach along a tree lined tree; a bit steep so most folks drive. Lots of parking at the beach. One Note: As with all century homes, the stairs are steep; these also take a turn halfway up. Be sure to use the handrail. The price: excellent value in our opinion for a house of this size. Not fancy, but clean, comfortable.

Great location, nice back yard, but too expensive for what it is

This rental is in a lovely area of Port Elgin, not far from the beach in one direction, and from the downtown strip in the other. The back yard is spacious and has a nice deck and BBQ. We really enjoyed the back yard and we slept well every night in the quiet of this slow-paced neighbourhood. However, we were left feeling that we hadn’t got our money’s worth from our week’s rental. Why? Well, to start with, don't be fooled by the photos and how this house is staged on-line. If you're expecting something higher-end, given the outside appearance of the house and the price charged, you will be disappointed. The value just wasn't there when it came to the inside of the house. To be fair, the air conditioning system worked well, (there is a separate unit in most rooms and they run very quietly – almost silently), but there wasn't one in the main floor bedroom (only a ceiling fan). Overall, it seemed to us that the house had been renovated in a very hasty manner; it felt like an old house with a cheap modern make-over. For example, the door on the first-floor bedroom did not fit properly and did not close at all, while the doors in the other rooms usually stuck, so that they made a loud noise when you shut or opened them. There was no screen on even one of the windows in the sunroom, which made it stuffy and unpleasant to come and go from the building. The electrical outlets in the dining room on the common wall with the kitchen didn't work, and the floor underneath the vinyl flooring was soft & spongy in several spots. We also found that the rug in the living room, under the coffee table, was dirty (it smelled like a wet dog) and the upholstered chair and couches in the living room were dirty, stained, and uncomfortable (much too soft). The place was cheaply furnished, in other words. The carpet on the stairs was filthy all the way up. We couldn’t help feeling that the focus was on making money from the rental, rather than the enjoyment and comfort of the customers. For us, this place, despite its great location, roominess, nice deck, etc., did not offer good value in terms of comfort, style, and extras. It is a real shame, because it could be so much more than it is (and should be, at its current price). However, if you are part of a group of people and your focus is primarily on the outdoors, rather than home comfort, this place might work well for you.

Great location, not for people with allergies

Great location, mid point between the main shopping street and beach. House is stocked with everything you could need. Nice back yard and deck. Unfortunately I didn’t realize that allowing pets would mean dog hair and smell throughout the house. Also there is a very strong odour of mildew in the front entry and front bedroom. People with allergy sensitivities beware.

Great location, 10 minute walk to the beach, 5 minutes to down town. Four large bedrooms. Great back yard , lots of room to play games, sit and eat on the deck, camp fire, propane barbecue. . The host was quick to respond. Main floor has lots of space, kitchen , dining room and TV area. Air conditioning was great on hot days. We hope to book again next year.

Déception mais bien situé et belle cour et patio

Lave vaisselle brisé, propriétaire le savait, aucun rabais ni empressement à régler le problème durant la semaine. Toute la vaisselle dans les armoires était sale, même avec restants de nourriture dans les assiettes. Les divans du salon et chaises de salle à manger étaient tous tachés, on devait les couvrir pour s’asseoir. Par contre, lits confortables maison bien située, très belle cour arrière et véranda, grand rangement devant la maison pour paddle board etc.

Advertised as steps from the Beach. It is not but rather requires a drive to beach. Extremely intrusive neighbours as this is not a Cottage but rather a House in a Residential neighborhood. Old Cottage poorly updated. Very musty smelling. Grounds are unkept.Main floor washroom is smaller than a phone booth. For the price this place is a rip off for sure. Owner does not respond to questions posed. Very disappointing stay. Would never return. Terrible rental!
