In the very early days of Seaside, town architect Richard Gibbs and his partner chose to design and build their private cottage in the woods just as Forest Street was beginning to be developed. Way Back is their original and renovated cottage in this heralded beach community. Among the most frequently rented and beloved one-bedroom Seaside cottages over the years, tranquil and private Way Back retains its Seaside architectural authenticity.
Way Back has a new fully upgraded kitchen and just renovated bathroom, two-zone air conditioning, and upgraded soft furnishings throughout plus the recent addition of a compact washer and dryer. A reserved parking place in front of the cottage leads via a timber boardwalk through a shady front garden with outdoor seating for two by the private grill to the spacious furnished front deck. The open-air front deck welcomes you with Adirondack seating for two overlooking your private lush front yard, a perfect location to enjoy your morning coffee or an evening nightcap. Furnishings and artworks have been updated in the ground floor living/dining/kitchen area, while the original timber walls and floors are reminders that inspired architecture and craftsmanship never go out of style. The compact stainless galley kitchen features new appliances, including a fridge/freezer/ice maker, countertop convection oven, four-burner gas cooktop, and a small microwave. The dining space features a compact table that comfortably seats two as the dining area. The living area features new furnishings with two swivel chairs and a new mounted large flat-screen smart TV.
Among the very few pet-friendly rental cottages in Seaside, Way Back is ideal for a couple or solo traveler. Positioned just three houses from the national heritage-listed Seaside Chapel, Way Back provides a private and relaxing connection to the core of Seaside. A stay at Way Back serves as the perfect venue for beach access (a five-minute walk), vibrant town center restaurants and shopping, and wooded trails for hiking and bike exploration.
An easily accessed staircase leads to the upstairs queen bedroom with a Juliette balcony in the treetops. The renovated bathroom features a large walk-in rain shower, heated tile floors, a heated towel rack, and new stone vanity and floors. Recent additions to the bedroom area include a clothes closet and a credenza with ample storage. New outdoor additions to Way Back include a gas BBQ grill, outdoor shower, and refreshed landscaping.
Rentals include high-speed wi-fi, cable TV in both the living room and bedroom, two bicycles, access to swim, fitness and tennis centers, beach pavilion access, and a beach bag of arrival welcome amenities, including wine.
* 3-night minimum Spring, Spring Break, Summer, and 2-night minimum Fall & Winter. Must be 25 years of age to rent and sign registration.
* Pets are allowed with certain restrictions and provisions. An additional $50 a day rental pet fee will be collected in addition to the flat $100 pet fee.

My wife and I (plus our 8 month old) stayed for 2 nights in this lovely Seaside Cottage/Tiny house. It was exactly as described. It is small and cozy - has everything you need for an enjoyable weekend. It is within the Seaside community and you get access to all amenities. The cottage was comfy and very clean. Also, shout out ot the shower, which had excellent water pressure. The vacation rental company was the best I've seen yet - super responsive, texted all the info on time, and honestly, there is nothing negative that can be said. 5/5 stars

Home is cute and sweetly stocked take home goodies. Bring your own K cups if you want to brew coffee at house. It very much is a tiny home so you have to get creative on where to unpack / store luggage. Location cannot be beat! Easy breezy walk to anywhere you want to go in the Seaside shopping/dining/beach area. Also backs up to WaterColor and easy walk to their boathouse for paddle boarding.

Fun Seaside Property
Small but perfect 2 person stay in Seaside. Ideal location walking distance to beach. Nussled inbetween two larger houses this property has everything you need and more to include heated bathroom floors. You may not have room to host a dinner party but all other amenities made up for it!

We had a great time at our Wayback cottage stay! My wife had never been so it was the perfect entry to Seaside and can’t be location. Just a disclaimer this is is a max capacity of I would say 2, maybe 3 adults, or 2 adults and a child, I would not book it for a party bigger than that. There could be a bigger shower and a washer/dryer setup but other than that we had a flawless stay!

Seaside Stay
The Way Back was super cute, very clean, and closely located to everything. Beach was beautiful and about a 7 minute walk. Lots of food trucks and restaurants 5 minute walk away. Two bikes come with the rental which was a nice bonus. The Way Back was perfect for 2 adults. Communications were great!

We also liked being in at the back of HC property for the quietness and privacy. It wasn’t very far to walk to the shop, amphitheater, food trucks/restaurants and the beautiful beach!
